Now, why go up there when people are dying to get down here?

Game Name: Those Among Us.
Theme: Old Time Village.
Factions: Village/Cultist.

Primary Village Roles:
Seer – You may be blind but there’s almost nothing that can get past you. Each night you wander from your home to your shop, and the inner eye you possess shows you the role of another.

Alchemist – Two potions are held within your grasp: one of life and one of death. Each can be used only once but if used during the day you reveal yourself to the entire village. Every night you are away from home, working in your apothecary in a vain attempt to develop more potions.

Shield – You’re an honorable man who has a very protective streak, and each night you may leave your home to guard over another person. Alas, you are only mortal and your protection cannot extend to yourself, or those bound by fate. If one lover dies the other must, no matter what you do, and if the Blessed is to die the Cursed shall instead, despite your best efforts.

Villager – As the citizens of this small village you vote every day on who should be lynched for their crime.

Secondary Village Roles:
Cupid – You love to see people in love, and on the very first day you’ll use your powers to make two people fall in love; one of these people can be you. The two become lovers and are told who each other are with their goal being to be the last two standing, despite what they are. However, your powers have a dark side; when one lover dies the other commits suicide, being unable to live with out their love.

Drunk – Every night you stay too late at the bar and wander home in a drunken haze. The sad thing is you’re too drunk to remember which home is yours so you are never seen at home. You may wander into one person’s house per night and discover if they are home or not, before you pass out.

Hunter – Always on the lookout for prey you are never without your bow and arrow, though you would never dare use them with so many around. When you die, however, nerves get the best of you and a single arrow may be fired and whomever you wish. Beware, for with your death you could bring harm or good to your fellow villagers.

Idiot – A simple soul, you can’t quite help being as silly as you are. While everyone may be annoyed by your antics they take pity on you. When you are about to be lynched you shall be revealed as the Idiot, and the village is too soft-hearted to hang you.

Priest – On the first day fate has been placed in your hands and it is a great power you wield. To declare the Blessed and the Cursed is your mission in life, to find that who is worthy. If the Blessed is to die the Cursed shall die in their place, if they are still alive. Not even the Alchemist’s potion of life can protect the Cursed from their fate, nor can the Heart step in.

Heart – You have a large heart and many see that as a wonderful thing, but one day it will be the death of you. When someone is to die you may step forward and offer yourself in their place, and if you are to be saved you cannot use your ability again. Choose wisely, do not open your heart to those that do not deserve it.

Primary Mafia Roles:
Dark God – You’re the one that the Cultists worship, it’s you that they’re trying to please. Your powers are great, not even the Seer can see who you truly are; however, the drunk will see that you are never home at night.

Cultist – All your life you’ve worshiped the Dark God; it’s your mission in life to please them. Each night you leave your home to vote on whom to sacrifice in the attempt to gain the great one’s favor.

Secondary Mafia Roles:
Watcher – New to the cult you are determined to prove yourself to the others. Along with voting every night you may also wander to one person’s home each night and discover if they are home or not. You’re never home at night; too busy trying to please those who will never be satisfied.

Witch Doctor – The magic that runs through your veins has made you a prize for your cult. You’re so advanced in your talent that you can leave your home to stop a single person each night from using the abilities they possess. You cannot stop anyone from leaving their home, so while someone may be blocked they can still wander.

Channeler – You’re almost as vital to your cult as the Witch Doctor is; each night you leave your home to redirect the target of one person’s ability. This does not extend to switching who the Blessed/Cursed is, or the lovers; nor can your ability carry over to the next day. You’re also the thorn in the Alchemist’s side; if you redirect their ability and they choose to save a life they must use their potion, even if their redirected target is not dying.

Silencer – Quick as a snake and just as slippery, you sneak into someone’s home each night and place a curse on them. Your powers prevents the victim from speaking at all the next day, leaving one less person to speak out against your dark activities.

Other Roles:
Village Chief – The one that the village has trusted to lead them, you could be their downfall or their savior. At each lynch your vote counts as two and if there is a tie you will be the one to break it.

Notes:
Villagers win when all Cultists have died.
Cultists win when their numbers are equal to the remaining villagers.
Lovers do not lose their abilities after becoming lovers.
Primary roles must be used in the game.
Other roles must be used in the game.
Secondary roles are optional, based on the number of people signed up.
A day phase happens first, where Village Chief is elected and Cupid/Priest choose their targets.
The majority of these roles came from: http://www.pandoraonline.net/heRO_wiki/index.php?title=Werewolf_rules#The_Roles

Rules:
- Day Phase is 48 hours, Night Phase is 24 hours, no votes or night actions will take place after this time.
- Phases are extended for Heart and Alchemist only, so they can choose if they wish to save the person dying.
- You must play for your faction.
- Any role that uses an ability during the night must PM to say if they will use their ability or not; two nights with no PM results in an inactivity kick.
- Unless you are silenced you must post in the thread; two days of not posting results in an inactivity kick.

I'll have to read this more fully when I'm on a computer, but my first thought is that that is a really big game. o.o

It could be, yeah. If all the roles were used it would be fifteen people, but they don't all have to be used. I think it'd be fun, though, for everyone to be something.

Well, no, if all those roles were to be used you'd have 15 PRs. That's not even counting villagers.

In a way I had sort of intended for it to have no villagers, and all to be power roles. With how small some of the village power roles are, though, I tried to balance it out with the Mafia.

The problem with no villagers is a mass-claim on Day 1 means the maf has basically nowhere to hide. That's what vanillagers are for, partially; to give the maf some breathing room in the event of a claim.

And yea. 15 PRs? That is a massive game, and you probably wont get enough sign-ups for that.

Dont take this the wrong way: it is an excellent setup. It's just one this board does not have the userbase to reliably support.

I think she forgot to mention the secondary ones are the ones she's prepared to remove in case of not enough sign ups because I warned her about that.

Might've forgot to mention that. I actually forgot about the claiming thing too, I've played a version of this game before but claiming wasn't allowed. Didn't figure part of that into this. Thanks guy for the advice, I had fun writing up the roles.
