Okay, so I was thinking about an anime called Shin Sekai Yori, where if a human kills another human (doesn't count if they kill a non-human), the killer dies. Now how would this apply to a mafia game? We have a human faction for the Village and a non-human faction (let's call them Queerats) for the Mafia. I envisage the follow scenarios would occur under the Death Feedback mechanic. 1) A Queerat is day lynched. Things proceed as per usual for a mafia game. 2) A Human is day lynched. Things proceed according to the following scenarios: a) If there is a dedicated executioner role that performs lynches, this role dies if and only if they are Human. This role is randomly chosen at the start of a game and democratically elected afterwards if necessary. Not decided if I want people to be able to resign from this role. b) If there is no dedicated executioner role: i) The person who suggested the lynch dies if and only if they are Human; or ii) The last person to vote on the lynch dies if and only if they are Human. Now personally, I've thought about each of the scenarios so much that I just can't pick whether or have an Executioner, or if I don't, whether to make it the person who voted last dies or the person who started the lynch. Hence why I've gone and posted here for some thoughts. Basically the point of this Death Feedback system is to make lynches a far bigger risk than they are currently so that lynches are only followed when there's a good bit of info backing them. Even the often ignored argument of "I'm a Vanillager, don't lynch me" carries some serious weight with Death Feedback. Obviously, it makes mafia far more powerful than it would be normally, so it'll need some serious balancing. Edited by LordQ, Apr 26 2013, 10:50 PM.

So it looks like I'm going with an Executioner type Public Role that will work like this: Wildlife Protection Officer You are responsible for the punishment of rogue Queerats and thus will always be at the forefront of a lynch. If a human is lynched though, you are struck by Death Feedback and are killed, but only if you are a human. The Wildlife Protection Officer will be chosen randomly from the players at the start of the game and may include Queerats. If a Wildlife Protection Officer is killed or resigns from their role, a new one is democratically elected during the day phase. And here's the setup I have in mind. Kamisu 66 (Village) Saki - Cop Satoru - Doc Tomiko - Bulletproof Shisei - Granny Villagers Queerats (Mafia) Squealer - Hooker Queerat Soldier With 15 players, I would probably go for an 11/4 split. Thoughts? Edited by LordQ, Apr 27 2013, 07:41 PM.

Hmm... I like the idea of having the punishment fall down on the person who initiates the lynch. It would force people to have some faith in their convictions. It's like knowing the difference between saying that you believe something is true and being willing to bet 20 dollars on it. |

I wanted to do that, but I was worried that people would just ask less experienced players to lead for them to save their own skins. |
