All right, it's about time again for a tournament! In case you've not seen one of these tournaments before, basically, we make different kinds of setups. Once we have a setup, we play three rounds of two pools, and based on how those games go, half the competing players go to a final round, and from there, the winning players win a special title. Seems simple enough, right? So far, we've had standard setups, a couples tournament... this time, it's time to get creative. We want everyone to help us out with this round. Make a role! Just make a role and submit your idea here. We'll be taking these user created roles and making a setup out of those. Some preexisting roles too if we need to for balancing purposes, but priority will be given to member created roles as possible. I'll organise roles in this post as they're suggested. For now, go nuts. Village Mafia Third Party

Any kind of roles can be created, and we are currently planning to use third parties. Right now there is no limit on how many roles one member can make, but do be sure to give everyone a chance. |

Letter - Every night, the host gives you a random letter. If you can spell out any word in english using those letters, you can choose one player and do any action to them. (Kill/Protect/Investigate, ect.) To be able to do this, however, you need to use that word in a post during the day phase. You can not use the same word twice in one game. You also keep the Letters you have throughout the entire game. Edited by LetterSequence, May 19 2013, 03:37 PM.

Also, please discuss any suggested roles for balance purposes. For example, [19/05/2013 16:31:54] PSN Strykr (Sayer of Nothings): Danny, does the turtle ability work if the turtle dies? [19/05/2013 16:32:02] PSN Strykr (Sayer of Nothings): And does the turtle get revealed upon death? [19/05/2013 16:32:06] DannyTurtle: Hmmmm. I'm going to say yes to both. Okay so here's the full list of my roles I thought of, including the Divine Being. Well, I say thought of, when instead I thought most of them would be fun roles to use. Village (Name needed)-During the night, target a player. You will discover if this player visited anyone, and if anyone visited this player, but not who the visitors/visited are. Mafia Sacrifice-When you are lynched, you may cause a target player to die. You do not know who the rest of the mafia are, and they don’t know you. Third Party Divine Being-During the first night phase, select a player. You will have to prevent this player from dying for the rest of the game. Each night, including the first, you can choose to do one of the following: Prevent a player from one cause of death during the current night or a non-lynch kill the day phase afterwards, discover the role of a target player, or guess the role of the target player and if you get it right, kill them. You cannot use the same ability two times in a row. None of your abilities count as visits. You win if the player you selected survives to the end of the game, even if you die. Creepy Girl-On the first night, you give a doll to a player of your choice. This doll can be passed around by the holder. If the current holder of the doll dies, you win and end the game. You can joint win with this ability. Third-Party Partier (Cabbage Merchant)-Each night, you may give a player a cabbage. If all living players hold cabbages, you win and the game ends. Cabbages do not affect the role of the player holding one, and they cannot be passed around. |

These ones look like roles that have been used before, so I'm not putting them in the OP yet, though I could maybe be convinced on Sacrifice being novel? It's basically exactly the village cult role, though. |

Another role wooo Dog keeper (Village sided)- One night, you may select a player. Your dogs will learn that person's scent. The next night, select another player. You will learn if they are visited by the person you already have the scent of, as well as learn their scent in the process. Your dogs will forget the scent of the first person they visited regardless. The cycle can continue throughout the following nights. Edited with suggestions from others. Sorry, which side does this go to? Kind of head tilting on the role overall so if you could clarify or something. That completely sucks for the killers. Like there is no way to avoid being caught in the act with a role like this in play. Edited by Aviana, May 19 2013, 02:33 PM.

Nicolas Cage- Every night you can visit a player and show off your amazing acting skills. While they are distracted, you can change the target of their actions, if they had any. And then you throw flaming bees at them so they're too distracted to change it back. Mafia sided. Don't ask why it's Nicolas Cage, I just felt like it. |

look at all these people digging through the idea barrel for ideas better get all this shitty idea laundry out in the open then Joker (Third Party)- Once per game, you may decide to shuffle the roles of all living players (meaning Mafia members can become village-sided and vice-versa) and choose whether to become a vanillager or goon. It will be declared in-thread when the ability is used, but not who used it. You will win if you stay alive with whichever side you join. Alternatively, you will win the game if you reach the end of the game alive without using the ability. You will be investigated as Goon if a detective or similar role targets you. Sticky Grenade (Mafia)- At the beginning of the game, choose someone to attach yourself to. You cannot tell the other mafia members who you are attached to. When your initial target dies, and if you are still alive, choose another player. If that player is a villager, than you will kill them and yourselves (in addition to your initial target). If you do not pick a villager, you will not kill your second target, and will die normally. more eventually Edited by Ilvocare, May 19 2013, 03:42 PM.

Hmmmm, the joker role is interesting. What do you think about a version where you have to use the ability at some point in order to win? Otherwise the much safer play is to simply never use it. Also, bit confused on the Grenade role. Can you give me an example using names, maybe? |

Joker: if the player HAS to use it in order to win, then that seems silly, because he or she can just use it at the beginning of the game and just force the host to randomize roles for the game twice. They basically just become a standard villager or goon at that point. However, assume that some investigative roles start pursuing the Joker in question, and a lynch is being set up for whatever reason. They can then basically "soft reset" the game in order to get off the trail. You know what, maybe I'll consider adding a clause that the Joker is investigated as a Goon in order to make it riskier to not use the ability, but still HAVE a reason to use or not use it. SG: Presume Ilvocare is the SG. He picks Aviana to attach himself to, and cannot tell his fellow Mafia members that he is attached to her. If Ilvocare dies before Aviana, then the grenade is considered "defused" and only he will die. If Aviana is killed, either through successful lynch or mafia kill, Ilvocare must choose between the remaining players left alive as to who he thinks is a villager (if there's none left, than his choice doesn't matter). Presume there are two people for consideration to be chosen: Letter and Danny. Danny is a villager, Letter is a PR. If Letter is chosen, the SG fails, and only Aviana and Ilvocare die. If Danny is chosen, then Danny, Aviana, AND Ilvocare all die within the same round. Also you can technically attach yourself to whoever, but it's way smarter to not attach yourself to other mafia members. excuse me for being thorough Edited by Ilvocare, May 19 2013, 03:47 PM.

Footballer - Once every night phase you can choose a position to play. Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, or Attacker. Goalkeeper, you can survive a kill that night phase. Defender, you can protect another player that night phase. Midfielder, you can direct any actions done to you to another player. Attacker, you can shoot at another player, you kill them and are revealed in thread because you scored. You can only play in each position once. Village sided. The GM (independent): You're looking to form the best team possible. As such, once a night, you can select a player to draft. However, if the player is not a PR, then your pick fails and you don't get one the ensuing night. If successful, then the PR joins your team. Wins when his team outnumbers the rest of the players. Or when every living PR is converted. Not sure which is better. |

Third party: Chocolate Cock - You have been created with the most indecent intentions, inviting others to sin exceedingly with the union of two ancestral pleasures (sex and chocolate.) which you provide. You're filled with soft and perverse fluids that can ooze over anything you like, and you utilise these to your advantage, each night coating an individual, so that they can't move, and proceed to distract them with your sheer... majesty. This prevents your target from acting for that night. You may only target each player once. If you reach the point of having coated half of the living players, you leave the game a winner. |

Rules Lawyer (Village) - Once a night you may argue with the host over the result of target player's action, or the result of an action on target player (specify which, cannot target self). You may change that action to the action of any living role in the game, except your own. However, this will piss off the host, and any use past the first will carry a stacking 25% chance of you dying instead. |

Okay, how's this? Parasite (Mafia) - On the first night you may choose a player. You will attach yourself to them. Any investigation of that player will show them to be mafia. If that player visits anyone else, or if anyone else visits them, you will transfer to the other player. If you are passed to another player, you are informed that you have changed host, but not who your new host is. If you remain on the new host for a second phase, you will then be informed of their identity. If the player you are attached to is killed, you are also killed. I was gonna have a role named Magellan ;w; Dorkie Corkie- Starts off the game thinking she's a regular villager. If Magellan dies, she is stricken with grief and learns her true role. Every night, she can protect a player from ALL actions, such as conversions/investigations/distractions/kills/ect. She can only do this three times in the game though. Village sided.
