THE WOLF

Roleplayer: Max
Literacy: Literate

Name: Satō Jinnōsuke
Alias: Ookami ("Wolf")
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Kin: He's serving as the guardian of Kamimoto Kagyou.

Status: Divorced
Loyalty: Kamimoto Dōjō
Occupation: Rōnin

Height: 179CM
Weight: 70KG

Likes: Yakiniku. He has a childish fondness for meat.
Dislikes: Vegetables. He hates vegetables. With a passion.
Personality: Brash, arrogant, headstrong, etc.
Habits: He has a habit of saying the exact opposite of what he means in serious situations. For example, when he wants someone to stick close to him so he can protect them he saying something like, 'Get as far away from me as possible so I don't have to look after your ass'.

Inventory: Ookami carries around a large satchel containing a copious amount of cooking additives like salt and pepper as well as random stuff like dried fish. In addition to that, he small money bag and a waterskin tied to his belt. Worn as a necklace around his neck is an oddly-shaped piece of black wood he says is a talisman.

Weaponry: Ookami utilizes a Japanese polearm-type weapon known as a naginata, which resembles a pole with a thin blade attached to one end. Ookami is capable of wielding the naginata with great efficiency, making use of the naginata's longer reach to overcome the majority of his opponents who use weapons with a shorter reach - like katanas. Ookami can adjust his battle style with the naginata to suit his needs. He can approach opponents with both a defensive and offensive stance. At the other end of his naginata, where the butt is, a slender knife is sheathed and concealed. Ookami uses this knife as a trump card in dire situations. Ookami also wears a katana, like most warriors, but he hardly ever uses it.

Ability: As mentioned before, Ookami has great skill with a naginata, his weapon of choice. He is also trained in the use of his slender knife, which he can use with minimal - but sufficient - effectiveness. Apart from his skill with his chosen weapons, Ookami also possesses great stamina, capable of sprinting across the countryside for about an hour without stopping. He is extremely clumsy when walking in open areas, like the city streets, but he is unexpectedly acrobatic when in cloistered areas, such as forests or enclosed rooms, which he uses to his advantage by leaping about all over the place. While he usually uses his naginata as his main weapon, Ookami can also dual-wield both naginata and katana at the same time, using his katana in a rather unorthodox way.

Biography:

Ookami's past is largely unknown and remains a mystery to even his closest friends. The people of Shimōsa know little to nothing about him, save that he was born to a middle-class family and that he prefers to be called Ookami; only a handful of people know that his real name is Satō Jinnōsuke.

The truth is, Satō Jinnōsuke was born into a middle-class family in Mutsu Province. He later enrolled in a dōjō and successfully completed his studies. At one point he was employed as a samurai after completing his warrior's pilgrimage. He later got married. Life was ideal. Then everything went wrong. Within the span of a year, Satō Jinnōsuke lost his family, his lover, and his unborn child. He fled from his hometown, left Mutsu Province, and roamed the land aimlessly, seeking a new purpose. He fought and won many duels. He served as a mercenary in various conflicts around Japan. He is rumored to have once even joined a gang of bandits, pillaging and plundering as he pleased. Abandoning the name of Satō Jinnōsuke, he took up the mantle of the wolf - "Ookami".

After much wandering, Ookami stumbled into Shimōsa Province and demanded to know who the best warrior in the province was. Upon hearing of a legendary swordsman who lived in the area, he started searching for him. Ookami eventually found out the man had a dōjō located near a river which was surrounded by sakura trees. Making his way there, Ookami found himself at the doorstep of Kamimoto dōjō and demanded to have a duel with the master of the place. After being asked why, Ookami simply said he wanted to prove he was the strongest. To this the master asked what would happen if Ookami lost, to which Ookami laughed and said he would join the dōjō if that happened. After he was promptly defeated, the stunned Ookami was taken in by the master and took up residence in the dōjō.

Years later, the master went out on an urgent errand and never came back; as a result, the dōjō and the master's young daughter was entrusted to Ookami's care. The grizzled warrior now resides in the dōjō whilst looking after the master's daughter and caring for the dōjō. Sometimes, he ventures out into town to gather supplies or perform an errand or two.
