Roleplayer: Stormy

Name: Kagamine Renzokuken
Alias: The Bright Shadow, Ren
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral Good

Kin: None

Status: Straight
Sexuality: Straight as an arrow
Loyalty: N/A
Occupation: Matagi

Height: 1.71m
Weight: 64kg

Likes: Green tea, music, cute things, animals, his steed Satsuki, and his mother's fue.
Dislikes: Dishonorable things/people, rude individuals, cowards, people who abuse their powers

Personality: Kagamine Renzokuken is a ranger, but a quirky one. He delights in music and art, believes in living for the joy of life, and thinks everyone should enjoy life as far as they can. Because of this, many people mistake him as one who can be discounted, or easily bullied. This is so much the better for Renzokuken, for though he is slow to anger, once roused, he is a terrible force to be reckoned with.

Habits: Renzokuken is often found where there is performance or music, drawn to it like a bee to honey. He never stays in one spot for long, and is prone to going to the rescue of those being oppressed or in trouble.

Inventory: A hand-carved woodwhistle, carving knife, various spices and the like for cooking, flint and tinder, rope, change of clothes, bandages and various herbs good for healing.
Weaponry: A pair of master-crafted wakizashis, called Touch of Justice and Gift of Peace gifted to him by a noble he helped, and Black Wind, his personal hankyū (shortbow), plus his quiver of arrows that he makes and fletches himself.
Ability: Renzokuken is a deadly archer, and excels at placing his arrows precisely where he wants them without sacrificing firing speed. If his opponents survives his barrage of arrows to get close, they will find that he is equally skilled with his two wakizashis, striking as fast as a snake.

Appearance

Biography: Renzokuken was raised in the mountains, and trained by both his father and grandfather in the arts of hunting and tracking as soon as he could stand. From them, he also learned the art of kyūdō. By the age of 12, he was able to go out into the forests alone, track and bring down a full-grown deer. Of course, he couldn't bring it back, so he never actually went alone. In addition to learning kyūdō, his grandfather, who had once served in the Daimyo's army, also taught him the Niten Ichi-ryū, acknowledging him as a master when he was 15. Partnering the strict training and discipline of his father and grandfather, was the warmth and love of his mother, who constantly reminded him that to live was joy itself, and who was also an excellent fue player. Renzokuken enjoyed listening to her play, and it was from her that he inherited his love of music. His father and grandfather permitted him to learn it as one of the few indulgences they allowed him, seeing it as part of bushido.

Then, several months after turning 16, a tragedy struck his life. It was a cold winter, and was a particularly harsh season so when Renzokuken went out to hunt, he found himself ranging further than he normally did. Eventually though, he picked up the trail of a small herd of deer, and tracked and brought down one fair-sized deer. Field-dressing and packing it, he began his journey home. He had been outfield for a week now, and returning to the little house where he lived took two days. When he returned, he found death waiting for him. The house had been set on fire, and he found his father and grandfather's unliving forms on the ground outside the ruined house, their shattered blades at their side. Numerous corpses surrounded them, all in no particular uniform, but having one red band tied around their arm. The barn still stood, and it in he found his mother, her throat slashed, her clothes ripped and torn. Fury and rage rose in him like he had never felt, but his father's lessons came back to him, and he reined in his temper.

Setting down the now-unneeded packs of deer meat, he buried his parents and grandfather in a simple ceremony. Then he picked up the trail of their bandits, and over the course of the next few days slaughtered them one at a time, always taking no more than two or three at a time, always taking him down in full sight of his companions, always unseen. When the last two remained, gibbering in fear, he revealed himself to them, and slaughtered them with his father's and grandfather's ruined blades. His revenge complete, Renzokuken returned to the destroyed shack, now partially hidden under the snow. He buried the destroyed swords in their respective graves, then searched the ruins for whatever he could use. In the remnants of his mother's room, he found, to his delight, his mother's fue, miraculously undamaged by the fire. He took it with him, and left, and returned only every year to pay his respects to his parents and grandfather.

Sometime after he started wandering, he came across an injured mountain elk. Rather then kill it, he bound its injury, and nursed it back to health. Shortly after it recovered, Renzokuken tried to leave, but the elk followed him. Finally, he named it Satsuki, for he had first met it in the fifth month, and it soon became a loyal companion.
There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
