Jayden couldn't help but be annoyed by the obnoxious interruption from Kuro, and almost rolled his eyes at Kuro's obvious attempt to stroke his massive ego. Jayden didn't have to assume that; Kuro said it straight out for him.
"For your information, buddy," Jayden said, "I wasn't even here last year. I dropped out to handle some problems back home, and I re-enrolled just now. I even won my exam duel earlier today and got in Blue, but you're not able to see that either." Jayden wasn't going to bother mentioning his anxiety issues to Kuro; scum like him always used that stuff as ammunition.

"Why don't we prove it with a duel... y'know? To kick of the new year!" "You must show that you are worthy to be called an obelisk!"

Kuro pulls out his deck during the conversation. While doing so, everyone is in awe at the most powerful deck currently at the school. The deck seems to glow with a shadow-like aura.

Jason couldn't help, but notice the little discussion the three obelisk blues were having. He didn't want to get caught up in anything so he just began walking. He had no clue where he was going, but with how bad his day had been so far he didn't seem to care. It felt good to escape sometimes, and that was exactly what he was doing with his short little walk. No Avatar

Saranto stopped the instant he heard a duel mentioned. The first duel of the year was interesting and all, but an unofficial duel between two students? Well, that's even more fun. He turned around to see the group of Obelisk Blues, and approached them. "Did I hear someone mention a duel?" He interjected, " It's been a while since I saw a good duel, so I'd love to see a couple Obelisk Blues go at it. Mind if I watch?"

Jayden was growing more annoyed at Kuro. Kuro didn't even realize Jayden wasn't here last year, and now Kuro is up and calling Jayden out of the (heh, heh) blue for a duel right before the important event at the stadium.
"Look, I--" Jayden started to say, but then a Ra Yellow approached them.
"It's been a while since I saw a good duel," the Ra Yellow said, "so I'd love to see a couple Obelisk Blues go at it. Mind if I watch?"
Shit. People are starting to notice.
"Look here," Jayden said to Kuro and the Ra Yellow, trying not to come across as annoyed. "If y'all want to see two Obelisk Blues duke it out, there's a big ol' official duel to kick off the academy year at the stadium right now. I intend to see that, and you can either come with us"--Jayden indicated Chayne--"or forget about it."
Jayden gestured at Chayne. "C'mon, man, let's go." Jayden wanted to leave before Kuro pressed the issue, because God knows he was going to.

Jason begins walking and reflecting on everything that has happened to him today. He sucked at dueling and was scared to death of ever having to duel anyone. "Wait...Maybe just maybe I can make friends and improve my dueling skills!" Jason was extremely excited of the thought of actually becoming a good dueler. He decided to turn back around and head for the people he saw earlier. He might try and start up a conversation, and maybe even make friends. No Avatar

In the flash of an eye, and before he could even respond to Jayden catching up to him, it seemed as if all of the Duel Academy was upon Jayden and Chayne. The first voice to be recognized was Kuro's. His reputation was sharply described as vexing. There was nothing this kid would do for attention, like a starving artist for money.

Jayden was ready to leave, but more and more duelist heard Kuro's loud mouth and began to cluster. Chayne's cold and gray eyes shifted from person to person, seeing Blue, Blue, Yellow, and then even a Red approached, and through the thick of it all he even spotted Shon.

"Now hold on Jay, let's get something straight with Kuro, before we all head to the stadium." Chayne said, with his eyes held steady on Kuro, with a stern look.

"You claim a victory that happened over a year ago. It is one of the few losses that I can count on my hands. But know this: If you beat me this year, you can talk to me, again. Until then, you should muzzle your pride, before I have to show you what a real defeat looks like."

Chayne stepped to walk passed Kuro, but stopped midstride.

"Oh, and don't forget how quickly the last Blue that ever talked trash to me was dealt with. If I recall correctly, He got to make the first move, and lost before he could get a second."

Good ol' Jinzo #7 Duplication to Limiter Removal. The most priceless and utterly low level kill in my old deck. Chayne thought to himself.

"I'll see ya after the stadium bout, Kuro. You can bark your match against me to whomever you want. Just make sure you bring a deck that's worth the duel. Same goes to anyoone else, that wishes to try me." Chayne stated boldly, looking around the crowded area, then tossing his shoulder forward to get around those standing in his way to the stadium. He caught Shon, as he walked passed, locking eyes with him briefly, before moving onward.

Once passed the crowd, Chayne tossed his left hand up in the air, motioning for Jayden to come with, so that he could get him to catch up, and chat with him again, before being interrupted.

"The Agents and I will see you after the stadium bout, Kuro! Don't forget!"

These are only words you have Chayne, we will see how they match up to your skills on the battlefield!

Kuro didn't say much to anyone after Chayne said his small speech. While he walked back into the cafeteria, he saw a group of first year ra yellow students that overheard the conversation snickering at him. He then looked away from the students and pretended like they were not there.

Feeling angry and distraught, Kuro then slammed his fist down hard on the table. With one eye twitching, he said to himself "Chayne, I can't belive you embarrassed me like that.... you have not seen the last of me. You will pay!"

Kuro gulped down his meal and stormed off to the card shop to better his deck. He was determined to show the world that he was the #1 duelist and the likes of Chayne nor Jayden wouldn't stand in his way.

Jayden was a little shunned at Chayne's semi-speech, and shunned further still that it managed to shut Kuro up. At Chayne's gesture, Jayden gathered himself again and followed Chayne down the hallway.
"I remember you owning everyone with that Machine deck," Jayden started to say. "What's this about the Agents?"

Chayne glanced at Jayden, for a second, and then let loose a sly smirk.

"What if I told you, for every planet in the cosmos, there's an angel or 'agent' that symbolizes it? Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, so-on and so-forth. What if I also told you that there's one who governs all of them? I've constructed a new deck, something that just 'speaks' to me. You'll get to see it in action, when I deal with Kuro."

Jayden
Well, it must have spoke to Chayne, considering how he worded it at first. Jayden wasn't sure of what to say; he only really thought of his cards as a means to an end, just cards in a card game. He didn't mean that in a heartless way; just that they're a tool of tactics, like pieces on a chessboard.
Then again, though, there was something about a card in his deck, Beast King Barbaros, that made him feel like he could really rely on it. Like, a strange feeling where once Barbaros was on the field, Jayden didn't feel like he was dueling by himself against his opponent anymore, like Barbaros was a separate entity and not just another image printed on a card.
Maybe that's where Chayne was coming from.
Jayden smiled at the thought of Chayne whopping Kuro. "Yeah, make sure I don't miss out on that," Jayden said, but his voice quickly faded away and he hesitated.
Up the hallway, Jayden saw him coming his way.
Crowler.

Narrator
Crowler was, to put it mildly, steaming.
He walked right up to Chayne, staring him down.
"Well?!" Crowler said in that same old, lovable voice. "What the hell are you doing?! Didn't you even get my call?!"

Chayne reeled back, defensively, as Crowler's voice pierced his ears, while trumping over Jayden's. Regaining his composure, Chayne checked his pocket, to reveal a brightly lit phone, with a "Missed Call from Crowler" on the screen. Chayne sighed in disappointment.

"I must've missed it, when that ruckus with Kuro was going on. I apologize."

Nonchalantly, Chayne sheathed his phone, back in his pocket.

After buying cards from the card shop, Kuro sat down with his unopened packs - alone. He was always alone. Never made any friends, and when someone tried to talk to him he would always say rude remarks. Eventually, the teachers wouldn't even say hi to him in the hallway. Talks between the teachers were not nice either as they would always say "Oh, you have Kuro... yeah good luck!" No one wanted to be around him..... Chayne and Jaden was his last hope in finding friendship, but he screwed that up at last years tournament. It seemed like he only had on reason to live and that was dueling.

at least that is what he thought to himself while opening the packs. He finished opening the packs with tears rolling down his face and to his dismay, none of the packs held cards that would work with his deck.

He then took the cards he just bought, ripped them up and threw the pieces at Chayne and Jaden. He then ran down the hall back to his room. A few heads turned and saw the event though showed no pity on him on because of the act he did infront of everyone just moments earlier.

Within seconds a flurry of shredded and ripped card pieces were flying at Chayne's face, while only catching a blur of where they came from. After shaking some of the torn paper from his face, jacket, and hair, Chayne turned to see Kuro booking it to his room, down the hallway.

Storming after him, Chayne banged on Kuro's door.

"GET OUT HERE YOU LITTLE RUNT!"

The knocking persisted, along with Chayne's outrage at the disrespectful connotation.

"NOW!"

After growing even more irritated with banging on the door, Chayne threw a heavy right fist at the door, forcing it to move not even a little. Keeping his fist balled tight, he walked away, to resume his conversation with Crowler.

Gazing sharply at Crowler, as if it were his fault, Chayne apologized.

"Sorry... for that."

Saranto rounded the corner just in time to see Chayne get a faceful of torn up cards. He'd been trying to catch up with the Obelisk Blues for a while, but his laziness had caught up with him. Saranto caught up to Jayden, and asked him "What's going on? Why's Crowler here? Why is he punching his door!?"
