#1 I think we should change the Forum named "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" to simply "Super Smash Bros." We are being forced to abandon brawl all together and that title will no longer be relevant. #2 After seeing the recent Smash Nintendo direct, please vote on if you plan or do not you plan on getting the 3DS version, the Wii U version, or both. This will hopefully give the clan an accurate representation on how the future tourneys for this franchise will be played out. |

It's virtually the same game, just on different platforms. Having two separate ones would just be irritating, so one is enough.

| i disagree, its two different games. The stages are complete different. the controls are different. Just because you are good at one doesn't mean you are at the other. I vote both games cause i don't think i'll get wiiu...(we all know i'll change my mind when smash4 comes out) |

| Looking by the polls look like we should make it both titles just to cater to all players. Although I'll be getting both titles i'll be focusing more on the Wii U version. |

When we have something as big as two Smash Bros titles across two separate consoles in the same generation, I think it's actually feasible that we don't have to "pick one" at all. It's actually possible that a lot of Nintendo gamers, people who are likely to have both a Wii U and a 3DS, could invest in a copy of both games, seeing that they both have their differences (different stages, for example). Just look at how we approach Pokemon; we often tend to buy both versions of the latest generation if possible, if not at least one of the original two versions and the "third expanded version" (i.e, Emerald) that comes out later on. And that's just for exclusive Pokemon and a few other things; how would you think we'd approach two versions of Super Smash Brothers, of all things, that could have different stages just to start with? Pokemon just gives different exclusives that you can get in trades easily; these Smash Bros titles could have entirely different tournaments play out because of the stages, and possibly even just because of how the controls feel. Look at the poll so far: 2 votes for the 3DS, 1 vote for the Wii U version, and 10 votes for both versions. Personally, I voted for both versions because I plan to purchase both versions and I want to support both versions, and I have a feeling several others had the same thought when they voted for that. (Heck, just look at some of the other posts in this topic.) I believe that while there will be people sticking to one version out of the fact that the other version is for a whole another console and that they may not think it's worth it, I also believe that we as a fanbase wouldn't "pick and choose" between two whole Smash Brothers games. Rather, I think enough of us will support both games to the point where having to "pick one" will not have to be necessary. |
The whimsical top hat counters my bad luck.

| Indeed, also here is another reason to pick up both versions: The 3DS version and the Wii U version will have completely different modes. They have already announced that the 3DS version will have a mode called "Smash Run" that will play out almost like City Trial did in Kirby Air Ride. You and 3 other people collect power ups for your character for 5 minutes and then have a 4 person free for all afterwards with your boosts. I mean, doesn't that sound like fun to you? It sure as heck does to me! That is definitely something that we can consider on doing for fun after tournaments. And I'm sure that the Wii U version will have another mode that is just as fun! |

The smash direct was great. I will be getting the wii u version for pretty obvious reasons. i just saw bits of laziness on Sakurai's part of things. i love what they are doing with the characters and the online play except for the whole every stage having a FD option...it makes the game less unique and fun, keep in mind that smash IS A PARTY GAME. I think Sakurai is considering the competitive play in this smash which is good put it may hinder the main aspect of the game which is to be fun..but I guess hes appealing to both sides and stuff. I also dont like the splitting the whole zelda/shiek samus/ZSS and charizard thing. He basically wasted spots and tweaked a moveset and bam, a wasted spot which could have been used up by new additions. Hell even some assist trophies can be characters... I do like the fact they got rid of some of the annoying stuff in online play and the custom movesets. I just hope the roster is pretty big and more stages are announced. Other than that Sakurai you have impressed Almighty Slash. P.S. DACUS4Smash4 Mewtwo4Smash4 Roy4Smash4 |

| I voted for the 3DS version because i am getting it. I believe we should do both however. They both contain different content, and it will help maybe grab more players. Not everyone can afford a Wii U so lots of people might go for the cheaper option. SSB WOOOOOOOOOOO! #hype |

Splitting the characters isn't wasting a slot. Having 2 completely different characters in the same slot doesn't change the fact that you made 2 completely different characters. ALSO JUST SAYING CUSTOM MOVESETS SOUNDS HYPE AS FUCK |

Seeing on how like all of the votes are for both just about, we may as well go with both, I too have well voted for both.

no. i disagree. These games will have slightly different stages but a 3ds has almost the same ammount of buttons as the new Wii controllers. besides 2. (left bumper+right bumper) so they will have very similar controls. and the mechanics/characters should be the same. unless they plan on using the imbalances of the 3ds version to balance out the wiiu version. we will know when that happens, but if they don't the games will be completely the same. not to mention general smash knowledge transfers throughout games. I'm better than half of my states melee scene literally because i simply understand how smash works better than they do. The same goes for 64 and will also go for smash4 because its a smash game. just like a street fighter game, they dont change the core mechanics. edit: i probably wont have either for a while, and if i do it will mostlikely be limited to the wii-u. but i am for changing this to just a smash section, but put in subforums for brawl and whatever the new smash will be named. A few of the members are only getting the Wii U version. So, in my opinion, both would be the best way to make it work. Melee is still popular to this day. I don't believe that if we use both people will just grow bored of doing the same thing for two tournaments. They will be very similar, but they are kind of supposed to. They are the same game with a some differences, and things that make them alike. I can't afford a Wii U right now, and my best shot is a 3DS. Others might only have a Wii U so they would go for that option. In this case, it is about being fair to the members, and making sure that either game you get you can still participate in the tournament seasons and things like that. I believe we should be okay off of making both main games, but the calendar will undergo a change in the way we schedule them. |
