  • Custom Fighters in SSB4

Due to convenience reasons, SHS will no longer be operating on this site! We are now located on facebook and are using discord for the chat. For information, our discord chat is here: https://discord.gg/84ue8Vv. It has been a pleasure meeting and serving everyone on this website, but if we wish to move on, we must start fresh in a new location. I hope everyone understands and we hope to see new and old faces. With all that is said and done, SHS is officially up and running again and we had our first tournament on 2/24/2017!! As discussed, we can still hold the 10 year anniversary party. - Thanks for you understanding! With love, Pijy

Unpredictability is something people experience all the time in Pokemon and Mario Kart, and we have no problems about it there. There are people like me and Ludi where we make some of the most creative sets for Pokemon and throw off our opponents from them not being able to predict the move set until it's too late. Mario Kart has that luck feature from the items you receive so unpredictability is something always on mind.
and thats why those 2 games have little to 0 competative scene, and aren't going up, but going down. The randomness adds fun, but removes skill. That's why the 2 most popular competative video game types are MOBA's and Fighting games, as they are 100% skill and very little luck, the only luck i currently can think of in a game is in UMVC when one of your character dies, it is literally a 50-50 chance whether the mix up they throw at you hits or misses.

here, we should no problems with it, if there is going to be a brawl tourney here with custom moves sets, I'm fine with that. Just custom movesets are not going to be in the competative scene is what i'm going to say, and if theres any clan wars etc, there wont be custom movesets in them.

We can't make the judgement until the game comes out, but if I had to make an early judgement i'd have to say that it could totally be viable for official tournaments. (I'm assuming that the customs would work like each special slot has 3 different SPECIFIC options. If each of the 3 options has customization on top of that I don't think it'll work out)

In Pokemon Smeargle can learn any move in the game but it only made OU because of 1 or 2 sets. And it still isn't even the most common pokemon in the tier. Someone sends out a smeargle, it could be a sub puncher for all you know but you want to know why it isn't? Because a sub punch smeargle would fucking suck. After you see that this smeargle is trying to sub punch you, you will laugh and switch to a set up pokemon, hit 3 swords dances and sweep. Same thing with the custom moves, yeah there are 3 combinations for each of their specials, but after a few months of the game, you probably know exactly which ones they are going to pick depending on the matchup. And its not like they can switch what custom move they can use mid game, after you see it the first time, you'll know which one they picked. Some Characters will clearly be a lot better than others because they have more diverse combinations, other characters will be a lot better because they just have one combination that is just better than every other character in the game, and some characters are gonna suck because all their combinations suck.

PERSONALLY the only reason I think it shouldn't happen as of right now is because it might take too long, but who knows until you do it.
