Due to convenience reasons, SHS will no longer be operating on this site! We are now located on facebook and are using discord for the chat. For information, our discord chat is here: https://discord.gg/84ue8Vv. It has been a pleasure meeting and serving everyone on this website, but if we wish to move on, we must start fresh in a new location. I hope everyone understands and we hope to see new and old faces. With all that is said and done, SHS is officially up and running again and we had our first tournament on 2/24/2017!! As discussed, we can still hold the 10 year anniversary party. - Thanks for you understanding! With love, Pijy

This is literally my argument for everyone who thinks Ridley will be a playable character.

Ridley is the number one reason that we are completely unable to discuss newcomer wishlists and prediction lists without flame wars and such.

I'm so sick of him..................

A sick part of me wishes he was in just to see every smash forum ever burn into the ground :awesome:

except us of course

Before the release of SSBM, were people arguing that Bowser was too big to be in the game? That's the question on my mind whether I see the Ridley discussion.

I personally don't care as to whether Ridley should be in Smash Bros, but none of the problems regarding a potential appearance by him are about his being a giant wyvern. Ridley was close to Samus's size in the original Metroid (like how Bowser was similar to Mario's size in Super Mario Bros, remember?), and if you honestly think they wouldn't do a throwback to the original Metroid game and put Ridley in as that exact same form and size, then you're not thinking about Ridley as a Smash Bros character, you're thinking about Ridley as a giant dragon like from the later Metroid games. The presence of Bowser alone defeats the argument that Ridley is too big of a character, because have you seen the latest Mario games? If Bowser wasn't in SSB up to now, and people were asking for Bowser in the newest SSB, would the same argument about character size be thrown out there like with Ridley? Would the same reference to the old games (Metroid and Super Mario Bros) be made to point out that, yes, the villain in question could be a similar size to everyone else? Why would the same arguments being made about Ridley's character size not be made for Bowser's character size if Bowser was in the same situation?

Again, I don't care on whether Ridley should make it in, but his character size shouldn't be part of the discussion as to whether he should be in SSB. It just doesn't make sense as long as a diminished Bowser is standing there in Smash Bros, waving at everyone arguing about character size.

See the thing about it is that even if his size doesnt matter, the scale does. Ridley is full of awkward shapes and really spindly at points.... to just scale him down wont make him any better of a fit. Bowser has some really simple shapes to deal with, and on occasion he has been around the size of Mario before. The only game where Ridley has been the same size is when they have limited Pixels to deal with.

The guy mentions that in the video I posted. Ridley has only been a similar size to samus in the original metroid. If they were to use that version of Ridley, okay, I can see him being a character. However, since they like to use the newest versions of their characters in each game we would most likely be looking at Ridley from Metroid Other M. In that case his size and model would just be too awkward for him to be a playable character. Like Cloud said, Bowser has been a similar size to mario several times in the past.

Even if size wasn't a problem. Ridley would just look too awkward with everyone else just because of how he is designed.

Cmon guys does it really matter?.......in the end it is the choice of Sakurai and only time will tell if he is in.

No need to endlessly debate this.

This.

No arguments are necessary. We'll be seeing very soon if he makes it or not. Simple.
