Due to convenience reasons, SHS will no longer be operating on this site! We are now located on facebook and are using discord for the chat. For information, our discord chat is here: https://discord.gg/84ue8Vv. It has been a pleasure meeting and serving everyone on this website, but if we wish to move on, we must start fresh in a new location. I hope everyone understands and we hope to see new and old faces. With all that is said and done, SHS is officially up and running again and we had our first tournament on 2/24/2017!! As discussed, we can still hold the 10 year anniversary party. - Thanks for you understanding! With love, Pijy

Lost odyssey = Final Fantasy in disguise
Final Fantasy = Amazing

What's with all the FF hate here? I just think that you all are jealous that your beloved Jrpgs are not getting enough attention because of Final Fantasy... which even I admit it does hog the spotlight a little bit, and some series suffer for it... and that somewhat makes me want to cry, as I love 90% of all Jrpgs so... ;_;

I'm not hating on the games, I'm just pointing out that many JRPGs (and Metal Gear Solid) are 90% cutscenes.

Well FFXIII has about 10 hours of cutscenes I think, and can result in an 80 hour game with going for finishing all the side quests, which is nowhere near 90% cutscene time.... even if you don't finish all the sidequests, it'd be around 40- 50 hours... so I think 10 hour of cutscene is great. Plus it's not like most modern non-rpgs can even offer 20 hours of complete gameplay, so for that game 10 hours of cutscenes is too long but for long games like RPGs it's a reasonable number.

Now there are some with bad pacing *CoughFFXIIcough* but, not all RPG are story fests.

You don't know what hyperbole is, do you?

On top of that, quality over quantity. I'd rather play ten hours of a great game than eighty hours of an alright game.

@Mattimeo:It all depends on opinions whether the game is good or great or even average. If you enjoy it the eighty hour game is way more worth it than the ten hour game.

@Indie: How are you going to win if you aren't stocked up to go fight the dungeon, and it just so happens that a town is the easiest place to find shit to stock up so stop dissing it there. Alot of games utilize the formula you just said, it's just how it works. You stock up, you go to Area A, you fight through this area until you get to the boss, you fight the boss, you win and head off to do it again. Almost any game with a story utilizes that, although they might not do the stock up part, and instead leave caches of items throughout the area to help you.
