  • Host = Handicap?

Due to convenience reasons, SHS will no longer be operating on this site! We are now located on facebook and are using discord for the chat. For information, our discord chat is here: https://discord.gg/84ue8Vv. It has been a pleasure meeting and serving everyone on this website, but if we wish to move on, we must start fresh in a new location. I hope everyone understands and we hope to see new and old faces. With all that is said and done, SHS is officially up and running again and we had our first tournament on 2/24/2017!! As discussed, we can still hold the 10 year anniversary party. - Thanks for you understanding! With love, Pijy

Host = Handicap?

A "host" is the guy whose internet connection stands as a support for the match itself, with the others connecting to the host in order to play in the match. No host equals no match.

Often, the host has the advantage of less lag, slightly better re-action time, and better knife kills. So, how about we make it so the "host handicap" goes to the player in the tourney with the least skill (for example, someone who gets kicked around a lot by the rest of us)?

The experienced players know how to play in matches where they aren't host, so the handicap for host should go to the player who needs the handicap the most.

So, what do you think? Should we make this a rule in tourneys, where host handicap goes to the least skilled player?

Or make it so in smaller team matches, you have one person just to host and the rest of the people play.

No, they have just as much lag. It all comes down to connection. If someone with an already crappy connection tries to host, it makes the match just as crappy cause we have to rely on his to support us. There's also the chance the Host still has horrible lag while we won't so he still gets kicked around.

I have to say, i've found that being the host does give you a slight edge over everyone else especially when the host is overseas from you. I've found whenever i've been the host or had 5 bars while connected to a game i've got more kills in and survived more close encounters.

there is no need for host handicap smart one.
Host lag averages 20-40 ping, and so do close people. P2p playing is perfect on wii/360/ps3. Basically, there is no lag for the host. If the host knifes a player with 150 ping (kinda hard to shoot) it takes their time in milliseconds plus the opponents........well really my point is the less chance they lag. That's all. Even on PC dedicated servers there is no real advantage, and I know that I used to run servers as a co-admin.
note: on the wii i have not played enough to see what p2p is like, but no reason it would be different, but then again the wii does suck. XD
