I have configured a basic 4GB Tekkit based server for general use by whoever wants to play, it is premium only at the moment so you will need to have purchased minecraft and requires a few simple steps to get running

• Visit Technicpack.net/download and grab the launcher from here
  
  Make a shortcut to this file somewhere easy to locate! it is required to play the game!
  
  
• Edit: Make sure you load normal minecraft at least once first using by selecting "Minecraft" on the left hand side of the launcher and clicking launch... you can then quit and proceed with the rest of the steps.
  
  
• Once it has loaded click select Tekkit Lite from the list of available packs on the left and click the small cog as shown in this image
  
  
  
  Then select Manual Selection, and choose 0.6.1 as the version before clicking save and launching the game.
  
  You now have everything required to join the server, continue to multiplayer and enter the IP address 199.241.138.117:25565 to play
  
  
• If you would like to Install a texturepack and are unsure how feel free to ask, I tend to use sphax PureBDCraft texture pack (they need to be Tekkit compatible to add textures to the added items otherwise the new stuff will look like vanilla while everything else is based on the texturepack)
  
  Use the instructions provided on the website!
  
  
• if you get lag you can install Optifine HD5 1.4.7 into the jar to enable fine tweaks of graphics such as disabling fog etc and improve performance, (THIS MUST BE PUT INTO MODPACK.JAR *NOT* Minecraft.jar)
  
  Windows/Linux Instructions:
  1) Locate your modpack.jar file. On Windows, it's in %APPDATA%/.technic/tekkitlite/bin
  2) Create a backup of modpack.jar
  3) Open modpack.jar in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc)
  4) Delete the META-INF folder. - DO NOT DO THIS STEP!
  5) Copy (drag and drop) the .class files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file, replacing previous files.
  6) Run Minecraft and test!
  
  Mac Instructions:
  1) Locate your modpack.jar file. On Mac, it's in <home>/Library/Application Support/technic/tekkitlite/bin
  2) Create a backup of modpack.jar
  3) rename modpack.jar to modpack.zip and double-click it to extract the contents
  4) rename the resulting folder to modpack.jar and open it
  5) copy the .class files from the downloaded zip into the modpack.jar folder, replacing previous files
  6) Run Minecraft and test!

  It may seem daunting at first but it really is VERY easy to pick up given a chance, there are millions of youtube video's to help out and wiki's you also have NEI which is very helpful

  By configuring NEI like shown in the video above you can click on any item on the right side of the screen (or search using the bar at the bottom) and it will show you the recipe required to craft it, pretty neat if you ever forget how to make something!

When you join rules will be shown to the west on the wall, basic commands are listed there and more will be added in the future for convenience... if you find any problems with permissions or in general please let me know and I will fix them up or add to the server A.S.A.P!
