Yukino looked at Sayuri and stop what she was doing. she pulled back and looked under the table seeing the holster and gun. she looked back at sayuri and lifted the side of her shirt showing a handle to something. "Umm, safety is important these days. No telling," She glared at Takumi, "What kind of creeps are out there." She stuck out her tongue then looked back at Sayuri, "Don't worry, I have legal papers to carry them. But the obvious places are still a no no." She nodded and looked at Takumi, " No offense of course. But She's right. Internet sources are very unreliable."

She began to squirm a little as all this talk and no action had her a little bored. "Hey, how about I get us some snacks. I'll pay. So just tell me what you want, Sayuri." She smiled and looked at TaKumi, ".... I guess you too. But you better not take it the wrong way."

Takumi couldn't tell what Sayuri was hiding under her shirt, exactly
~pepper spray, a grenade, a gun?~
Suddenly Takumi felt like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time... he seemed to have gotten on thin ice pretty quickly with the two girls by just being friendly as always
It was no longer a good idea to stay anywhere nearby..
~But... Sayuri still seems really nice~
He couldn't help but think Sayuri wasn't all that bad, as for Yukino, he thought it was just a bad first impression on his part
"Well, if the internet is unreliable, why would it even exist? I mean, at least 1% of the info on it had to be true, right?" he asked calmly "then wouldn't it be better to at least have something to base assumptions on? Proving and disproving them later is your own choice... dah I mean" he interrupted himself
"I'd just go with my gut, but hey, guts don't really tell you much, now do they?" he tried cracking a pathetic joke, he was nervous.
The greatest teen detective was carrying some weapon and knew he was the vigilante
~although she has no proof, probably doesn't care enough~
And some goth chick was offering to buy him a snack
"No thanks" he politely declined "I'm not hungry, and i don't want you wastin' your money on someone you just met"
~As far as I know, you'd probably poison my food somehow~

He decided to use a tactical retreat
~It's not running away if i just walk away, right?~

"It was nice to see you again, Sayuri" He stood up "And also nice to meet you, too Yukino-san"

he was walking out the door, looking relaxed, but his shoulders very stiff under his loose dress shirt
"I'll see you sometime....Maybe" And walked out the door.

~Geez, I was just trying to be nice, but the cute one has a possible gun and the other more covered up one could've killed me if i wasn't carefull. Just what do they teach girls these days?~

He looked up at the sky once more "In a few more hours, the goddess of the heavens will cry herself to sleep, then a Silver Knight will arise to protect her slumber, since it's the only time she may rest"

Hmm." Sayuri watched Takumi leave. Despite fearlessly beating up hooligans at night, he scared pretty easily. To be honest, she felt safer with him sitting between them. Though he was a bit loud at times, she knew he was someone who could be trusted. "Not a good first impression, Yukino. That's why I tried to stop you when you were threatening him." She told her.

On the other hand, she wasn't sure if she could completely trust Yukino. Sure, there was absolutely no chance that Yukino was the one behind the disappearances, and Sayuri didn't believe she would ever kill someone, but her style and sense of humor were just a tad too mischievous. Sayuri knew she would be willing to treat her like a toy in the privacy of her own apartment, but if she was willing to trick her brother into seeing Sayuri after just getting out of the shower, how far would she be willing to go in a public situation?

~I can't worry about that right now, there's too much danger involved in this situation.~ She cleared her throat. "So, shall we continue our conversation?"

Yukino frowned and looked away, "I'm sorry Sayuri-san, He kind of annoyed me.... " she looked up and sighed, "but i know it doesn't matter.... but I tried to be nice at the end." She began to scratch at her arm a little. her attention went back at Sayuri asking if they could continued from before, "Y-yeah. Let's continue." She went back into her bag and took out the doll again. " Umm Sayuri... I am a bit scared. You would still protect me right?" It was safe to say that the fear started to set in. Yukino was a bully at times , but she was still scared of dieing. "Umm can we go some where else?"

"It doesn't matter if someone annoys you." Sayuri said. "You still have to treat them with respect. That's what I believe at least." She could easily tell that Yukino was afraid. "It's not just you. A detective's job is to protect everyone, that includes both you, and your brother." She didn't think she needed to tell her that the easiest way to do that would be to catch the culprit. "Sure, I need to make some phone calls, so I need to get back home. We'll talk as we walk." Having finished her atrocious lime flavored fruit drink, Sayuri found the appropriate garbage can for plastic bottles and tossed it in.

While they were walking, it was at the very first cross-walk where they ran into trouble. As Sayuri was about to cross the street, it appeared out of nowhere, a blue Toyota SUV with it's young driver slumped over the wheel, running the stop sign at a speed close to forty-five miles per hour, heading straight for Sayuri.

"I-I know... I'll be more nice to people. Or at least be more sociable." Yukino listen carefully to Sayuri's words. She followed her as she stored her drink and doll in her bag. As they came to the crosswalk Yukino saw the car speeding to Sayuri. She quickly and out of pure recklessness jumped pushing the both of them out of the way, Unfortunately the car barely, just barely grazed Yukino's right ankle. They landed almost on the other side of the street. Yukino got up and helped Sayuri to the sidewalk. She looked over to were the car was heading. The car seemed to crashed into the telephone pole a block away from them.

"Sayuri-san A-are you okay? " She looked herself over and checked her leg. Her right ankle had a bruise on it, but seemed to have just a faint nub pain. She quickly cheeked her neck for any cuts or any serapes. there was a small amount of blood and nothing more.

It all happened so fast, the speeding SUV, Yukino shouting, Sayuri turning to look to see it coming straight at her, Yukino shoving her out of the way, saving her life. Sayuri landing sprawled on the pavement as the vehicles tires passed, missing her face in a distance that could be measured in inches. As Yukino helped Sayuri to the sidewalk, she was too shocked to notice that Yukino seemed to be favoring one leg. She put her hand over her face, and her characteristic stutter had returned. "Oh-oh-oh-oh my g-g-g-" ~Get a grip, girl. you're supposed to be a tough detective. You've had brushes with death before, you can't freak out over something like this. You have to be in control of yourself.~ Sayuri thought. She needed to calm down. All she needed to do was take a few slow, deep breaths.

Deep breaths...

Deep breaths...

After repeating it three times, her personality seemed to undergo a change. She quickly looked to Yukino. "Hey, Yukino! Answer me! Are you all right?" She noticed the bruise on Yukino's leg. "Shit, you got hit didn't you? Try not to move that leg, you don't take a hit with that much force and walk away with just a bruise. If that car even grazed you, you could have a sprain, or worse, a fracture."

Sayuri looked around, noticing the people around her. A fairly sizable crowd had gathered to see what had happened. Sayuri pointed at one of them, a young hazel-eyed teenage girl with her cellphone out, and spoke in a loud, commanding voice. "You! Call Emergency Services! Get the police here! And an Ambulance!" Pointing to another one of them, a man wearing a business suit, complete with a sport coat and tie, wearing glasses with a poorly shaven face. "You! Bring me a basic first aid kit!" Pointing to a third onlooker, a tall stout man in a golf country club membership shirt, she gave him his own orders too. "You! Go check on the driver of that vehicle!" Sayuri was totally in command of the situation. She turned to Yukino. "Hey, I know it hurts but I need you to hang in there."

Yukino looked at Sayuri and smiled, but adenine in her system went away. "Y-yeah. I'm oww... okay maybe not so good." She looked at her ankle and sighed, "I think it's only a sprain... " She watched as Sayuri take command in the situation they were now in. She grabbed her bag and peered inside looking at the doll of herself. She sat closer to Sayuri to make it seem she was in pain and getting comfort from Sayuri. She whispered to her, " The doll's marks on the right leg are gone.... " It seemed pretty weird now. That doll was with her from the time she showed it to Sayuri to right now. She sighed and waited for the ambulance to come and leaned her head to Sayuri, "This pain isn't the worse I felt." She cringed a little as the pain got worse time to time.

The man who went to check on the driver of the SUV came back and looked discussed. He told everyone else, that the guys didn't make it. He didn't want to go into details and thought it was better that way. The girl on the phone included that the driver died. She told Sayuri that the cops were on their way.The businessman, who was ordered to find a first aid kit, wasn't able to find one in time. The Ambulances came to the SUV and the EMTs covered the body and told the cops that it was a missing person. The Cops walked over to Sayuri and Yukino. Of course yukino took over saying that she saw the SUV coming and risked her life to save her friend. The cops looked at Sayuri, "You are that detective. We need your statement and we'll tell the EMTs to let your ride with your friend here." they looked over at the SUV and continued, "Coincidentally, the driver is one of the missing persons in the doll case. It would be better for you to be at the hospital so they can hand you the reports."

If it's one of the missing persons." Sayuri insisted. "Then it's best if I have a look." The man in the suit came back with a first aid kit, and Sayuri, acting quickly, bandaged up Yukino's right ankle with a temporary splint. "There." She said. "I'm sure the paramedics can do better, but this will do for now. Wait here." Rushing down to the crashed SUV, Sayuri took a look inside. Though the driver's face had been smashed in by the accident, it was unmistakably Anno Tatsuya, the second person to go missing in the town's string of bizarre disappearances. What's more, Sayuri noticed something odd. "He didn't die from the crash. The rigor-mortis is already at an advanced stage, it looks like he was dead for about a week before he even set foot in this car."

Sayuri wondered how the car would have even been able to drive with a dead man behind the wheel, but it came to her instantly. It was the killer. He was sending the police a message, that he wasn't going to stop. ~But it wasn't just that. It wasn't just that at all.~ No, it couldn't be a coincidence that she just happened to be crossing the street where the killer had chosen to send this car down it's one-way trip to certain destruction. He wasn't just sending a message. He was after her life, and had carefully planned and prepared to kill her without even laying a finger on her. He knew she was on his case, that's why he wanted her dead. And he almost succeeded. If only she had been more aware of her surroundings, more alert, she most likely would have seen him. He was definitely watching, he would be too excited not to.

Sayuri whipped her head around, scanning the crowd for suspicious persons, but she knew she was wasting her time. With his plan failed, he would have soundlessly slipped away, and her chance of ending his spree of killing right then and there disappeared with him. She had been to slow to realize what was going on. A mistake no detective should make.

"What are you standing around here for?!" She barked at the Paramedics. "Go help the one that's still alive." "Ah...Yes Ma'am!" One of them sheepishly replied, and they ran off towards Yukino. Sayuri stood there, head bent low, a million feelings of regret, shame, anger, and misery coursing through her. After a few seconds, she couldn't keep it bottled up any longer. Whipping her leg forward, Sayuri kicked a piece of shrapnel from the wreckage of the SUV that was lying on the ground, which flew forward and ricocheted off the passenger's side window, leaving a spiderweb-shaped crack in the glass. "Damn it all!"

But she wasn't beaten yet, she was still alive and now the killer had left her with a clue. Running over to the Police Lieutenant on the scene, she showed him her detective ID. "Detective Mifune Sayuri. I'm gonna need the license and registration on this Vehicle. I want to know where it was sold, and who bought it, if it was ever resold and who owns it now."

Yukino sighed as Sayuri gave her a temperately splint for her ankle. she watched as Sayuri went off to the SUV. she sighed as the paramedics came over and looked at her leg. They told her that it could be a fractured and that they are bring her to the hospital to get it checked out.

When Sayuri talked to the officers by the SUV. One nodded and handed Sayuri the license and registration. "We'll be sure to drop off the history of the car to you at the hospital. So, go with your friend, we'll bring you what we can from HQ." The officers went off in their squad car.

Yukino waved to Sayuri, then told the paramedics to let Sayuri come with her.

"I'll be coming along shortly." Sayuri replied when the paramedics asked her to accompany Yukino. "And I'm prepared to give my statement. I know exactly what happened." Personally, she didn't think coming along in ambulance was a good idea, she would be taking up space needed by medical personal to care for Yukino's leg. It's not like you could fit an entire family in an ambulance along with the patient, paramedics, and their equipment. They were made for a specific purpose, emergency transportation.

Eventually, Sayuri climbed into the ambulance anyways, finding a seat in the passenger's side of the cab. This way, she wasn't in the way of the emergency medical personal, but she could still call out to Yukino, or even go to the rear of the vehicle in order to see if she was doing ok. Yukino was loaded into the ambulance's rear on a wheeled stretcher.

"I'm right here, Yukino." Sayuri called from the cab. "Let me know how your leg feels every hour or so." While the paramedics, with their more advanced medical training, began putting some neater, higher quality bandages on Yukino's ankle, Sayuri fastened her seatbelt as the driver of the ambulance turned on the siren and the vehicle began to roll in the direction of the hospital, flanked by police cars both in front and behind.

yukino yawned as she was getting tried, but the pain kept her awake. She looked into the ambulance cabin at Sayuri. She smiled as they continued on their way. grimacing she looked at her leg, then back at Sayuri. That's when she noticed a stain of blood on Sayuri's left arm. "Sayuri, i think you put a little more effort in helping me then on yourself. You are bleeding." One of the paramedtics went up to look at Sayuri's arm. The trip was lengthy, but the arrived there.

As the paramedics wheeled Yukino in the two cops from before went over to Sayuri and walked with her as they followed Yukino, " We gave HQ the information on the car and what ever we could about the driver. We bring it to you within the hour." They took a good look at Yukino and Sayuri, "Do you want a couple of officers to watch over you and your friend, IT seems that some ones after you." THey looked at each other, they didn't want to disrespect the young detective. They just didn't want to have her a victim.

Yukino looked back at Sayuri and told her to stay a while. She sighed as one of the paramedics told her that they were going to do x-rays then surgery. "Hey, Sayuri. Stay if you want to. I don't want to hinder your case. In any case I'll see you soon." She smiled and waved to Sayuri as the doctors wheeled her in for x-rays.

"Don't worry about it, Yukino. You saved my life. The least I could do is see that you safely arrived at the hospital." Sayuri knew that an X-ray would only show if the bone had been fractured. If Yukino's injury was a muscle sprain, they would have to do an MRI.

As Sayuri examined her bleeding arm, she grinned. "It's a scrape. It's not that bad at all. Don't worry about me." To be honest, it was a little worse than she had told Yukino, but all it would take was some bandages, it was neither deep enough nor large enough to require stitches.

As a nurse at the hospital bandaged up Sayuri's arm, a uniformed police officer came in holding a file. "We have the information regarding the vehicle. It's quite a bit of info but unfortunately there isn't much to go on." He handed Sayuri the file, who opened it and began to read it.

The vehicle that had almost taken Sayuri's life was a blue 2009 Toyota Landcruiser. It was assembled at a plant in Kobe, and sold to a Toyota Dealership in Tokyo, where it was bought by one Mr. Koizumi Ichiro. Koizumi had purchased it for it's heavy towing weight and large carrying space, as well as it's off road handling, ideal for the camping trips he enjoyed taking in the country. However, while he was in a town near here in 2011, the vehicle was reported stolen. Police failed to convict anyone of the theft. A footnote in the file said that a man named Miroslav Tretiak, a Russian immigrant most likely, was questioned on the theft and was a suspect at one time, but the investigation against him was dropped because of lack of evidence.

There were some holes in the report though. Although the vehicle's production number matched that of the one purchased by Koizumi, the license plates were different, and the car he purchased was silver instead of blue. ~Well that just means it's plates and color were altered by whoever stole it, doesn't it?~

Closing the file, she handed it back to the officer. "Be sure to send me a copy of this. I know we don't have much to go on here, but I want you to send me everything you can on this Tretiak guy. Anything you can find out." "But, Detective Sayuri." The officer asked. "Isn't it against regulations to investigate someone for a crime they were already cleared for?" "Well, we aren't investigating grand theft auto, are we? We're investigating a murder case." She said, her intuition doubting that Tretiak was the killer. The officer nodded. "I understand. Yes, ma'am."

Yukino sighed as the X-rays and MRis were taken. They took her to a hospital bed and then went off to page her guardian. She sighed and took the moment to rest. She reached into into her bag taking a sketchpad. ~I might as well draw for a bit~

Luckily Rinmi was paged by a nurse who told him a girl with his last name came in with a detective. He stood up dresses in a lab coat and black scrubs this time. Rinmi sighed taking a file of an autopsy and some medical paper work. Walking up a floor she walked down the hall to where Sayuri was. He glanced at Sayuri then knelt down to her level. " Miss Mifune. Nice to see you again. Earlier I did an autopsy on a victim of the killer. I felt a bit sorry for her you know." He handed it to Sayuri and sighed, "I'm sure you'll find it interesting. It's a copy so take it with you." He smiled and left to talk with the doctors about Yukino. They needed his permission to do a small surgical repair on the fracture. They told him that after word that she may need to walk with a cane for a while.

The officer watched as Rinmi passed by. He went over to talk with Sayuri, "I'll get right on that paper work. But... That man. Do you know who his used to be?" He grimaced and sighed, "It's not very reinvent, but he was second in command of the Blood Cicadas. The gang who burned, robbed, and killed many people." He paused and coughed, "He's the only one who didn't go to prison..... and the only one who is still alive." He coughed again and began to walk away, "Be wary of Rin the Reaper."
