I have recently got the unexpected file format error for my project :o , boy was I annoyed  , I looked at every forum available on the net for a solution...and unfortunately there isn't really much you can do. :( But not all hope is gone. :) I spent hours working on my project designing maps and I wasn't going to give up on it without trying to get most of my data back. note: Actors/Animation/Scripts/Items/Common Events/Map infos/Classes.rvdata are or most cases corrupted and are not usable sorry Here is what I did First Step Create a brand new project! , open it up and start creating new maps to the equal to the amount that you had in your original project, I had in my '/data' folder up to map068.rvdata , which means you have to create 68 blank maps on your new project and save it. Now you could select all your maps from your original game and paste it onto your new project created and hope that should transfer all the maps safely. If it doesn't and comes up with a error than you might need to paste the maps 1 by 1 to eliminate which map is corrupted. unfortunately I lost some map data, I got most maps that I spent allot of time designing back so I was happy. Second Step Now copy over /graphics and /audio all over to your new project, don't worry that wont effect your game from not opening. hopefully most of your map designs should have crossed onto your new project. |
