Well it's been awhile since anyone has posted anything actually relevant...

Anyways, I have started making progress towards making and actual SCC game in C++. There isn't much yet but this is a project I will be working on periodically. The source is hosted on a gitrepo so anyone can contribute.

I hope to see you guys again when I have anything more to report. Who knows, I might have something playable.

Are you going to be using any game engines or graphics libraries to render the game?

We are currently using SDL2 to render graphics. There are plans to move to opengl, but they aren't concrete yet. Plus, Delros is having issues updating to VS 2017 and we are starting to run into problems running newer cpp functions on his computed.

I think openGL will be fine since the game will be in 2D, won't have much of a physics engine, and won't have textures or shading. I also have experience with it so when you guys get to that point I can help more.

I'll have to brush up on my opengl sooner that expected.

I've done both 2D and 3D graphics in openGL. 2D is much easier. Just have to worry about height maps (like when two objects are in the same place, which one goes on top of the other?). Texture mapping is also much easier, but you have to get the proportions right or you'll get stretched or compressed textures.

I've done limited 2d in opengl, mostly screwing around with stuff from a youtube tutorial.

Ok, I merged my current branch into dev, what version of opengl do you recommend.

This looks interesting. Are you taking apart the flash version so you can translate the code? Or are you recreating the the game concepts from scratch? If you already have all the image assets, could you show me how? I’ve been having trouble finding and pulling the correct files from the game. No doubt I over complicated something, or I’m just not understanding it... :ermm:

As far as I can tell, most of the concepts are being recreated from scratch. The flash is impenetrable and the image assets were extracted a long time ago.
