If you absolutely must post something random, then put it in this thread. I don't have an entry but I'll think of one. |

I think that I have found the greatest video on Youtube: Was that random enough? Actually, why do I, of all people, like Youtube Poop? I mean I hate illogical things, almost as much as I hate copper. And yet, I like videos like this.... Edited by Robert Joe, Jun 16 2011, 05:23 PM.

Don't get him started. To whet your curiosity, I believe his hatred has something to do with how copper bends too easily, making it bad for construction, and how it oxidizes in salt water to make a green patina. Now don't ask any more. |

GRRRRR, copper. Why do I hate it? WHY WOULDN'T I HATE IT? And yes, of course I mean the metal. What else would I be talking about? Where do I begin? Well, copper's strength-to-weight ratio sucks for a metal. I mean, you are probably better off using wood (Look at my signature) as a building material. And it bends WAY TOO EASILY. I once used a copper rod to hold up an extremely light weather sensor. And within a week the thing bent almost 15 degrees. Some copper piping leading to my well broke, costing me a few thousand dollars in damages. And copper wiring in my greenhouse almost caught fire once, although the structure was not in flames it still caused my heaters to turn off and my plants to freeze. Basically, I hate copper because it sucks as a metal, And it has caused my a lot of damages. |

Unfortunately those attributes are shared by more than half the metals in the world. Some of them are much worse too. Gold is a near useless metal, it's only saving grace is that it carries electrical signals well, but the fact that it melts at body temperature means that you need to contain the gold inside something sealed to even consider using it. Lead is so brittle that a person can chip it apart with ease. Add in a low melting point, no worthwhile alloys, and in inherently hazardous nature and lead is only useful as a cheap ammunition to be fired out of a gun. I could rant about how shitty palladium and cobalt are, point out all the terrible flaws that cadmium and zirconium have, and top it all off with an enraged wall of hate aimed at nickel and mercury, but I have neither the time nor the patience to go into such detail. At least copper makes good pyrotechnics, which is more than can be said about most metals. Too bad that copper isn't as useful as aluminum. |
