As an anime fan and frequent gamer I generally accept broken physics and subsequent hand-waving in relation to it, due to it being entertaining. Especially if magic exists in the world in question. How can someone wield a weapon three times his own weight and twice his size? Well his enemy can shoot lightning from her eyes and teleport at will, so I guess it doesn't really matter since he probably has some magical trait in his past.

The problems come along when in a world with gravity you can walk on air because of bad programming, or in a "realistic" show a 56 ton patrol boat gaining enough altitude to physically ram a Hind at 600 feet elevation by ramping off of a half sunk cargo ship... and then sticking the landing with no effort and no injuries to the crew.

I can accept a world that posses magic, however it must adhere to some system of rules.

It should not just say: "This peninsula is floating in the ocean because of magic!", or: "He can lift a weapon larger than himself because of magic!".

The series, in my opinion should instead at least say: "The peninsula is not stationary because the Elemental Lighthouse caused the tectonic plate that it was seated on to move.", and: "In addition to fencing, Elsa also taught Sheath Knight how to use magic to augment his strength, allowing him to wield much heavier weapons.", for example.

I know that some people may draw conclusions like these on their own, but I think it should be explained nonetheless. It drives me nuts when something ridiculous happens in a series and it just acts like it was nothing.

Or something slightly more sane, "This sword was forged out of a rare metal called _______ which is lighter and harder then steel, dont lose this damn thing."

unununium

I really don't think unununium would be it. I don't know about the properties, but don't most elements that have a one-one-number name decay really fast except in laboratory conditions?

well, they do decay very fast, even in labs, but as long as you are bringing magic into it, you might as well make up a stable isotope.

It would probably involve some form of alloy of various mundane and fantastic materials.

ROBERT JOE, YOU IS SANE PERSON! Now please tell us a sanity-valid method of doing that.

Any element with such a high atomic number would be rather heavy, and therefore the opposite of what you would want if your intention is to make large swords light. Also, unununium would decay in several nanoseconds or less into a lighter element, and would release a large amount of deadly radiation in the process.

Now, if the swords were made of lithium, the lightest metal (1/2 the density of water) I might understand that kid being able to hold them. Unfortunately they'd also bend like modeling clay, and react violently with water.

It could be made of some type of metal like compound.

Also, the unununium was a joke, I just wanted to be able to say it :P
