For swords that ridiculously huge and ornamented, there are very few options for a material. Obviously, the kid would be unable to wield a single weapon half of that size if was comprised of iron or a similar material. And, because the weapons are still bloody weapons, they have to at least not break when they hit something.

I would assume that they are probably made out of a material like ABS plastic. I mean, the swords would probably be cut in half by a weapon made out of almost any metal (Other than shit metals like copper, of course), but at least the kid would be capable of lifting them, and he may be capable of dealing a bit of damage to an unarmored target if he strikes them in a weak spot (Like an eye).

Although, that is highly unlikely. As any world that still has people fighting with swords probably has not reached the Gunpowder Age, let alone advanced enough to develop synthetic materials.

Honestly, Sleath Knight should probably invest in small, non-ornamented, light melee weapons. Such as shortswords, perhaps. Of course, the most logical choice of weapon would be a firearm (Or better yet, to forgo combat on foot altogether and use an armored fighting vehicle), but I doubt that whatever world he comes from has invented them yet.

Maybe he comes from some really advanced really peacefull civilization that has no grasp of what a weapon would be, that is being invaded by a unadvanced, warlike nation that is still in the iron age?

Excuse me as I throw my faith in humanity into increasingly complicated kill scenarios.

I just looked at the Wiki for this series. And I can confirm that it DOES take place in a post-gunpowder era world.

.... Why would anyone sane use a bloody melee weapon when small, semi-automatic firearms are available? I mean, really?! Really?! How stupid would you have to be to go up against someone with a firearm when you have two ridiculously heavy melee weapons that you can barely lift?! The battle would be over in one f***ing shot, long before you got even close to being able to hit them.

When firearms are available, melee weapons are nothing more than an absolute last-resort. I mean, seriously. You are so f***ing out-classed that it is not even fun-.... Ugh... Sorry. I could go on all day...

Edit: If you think Avior's character is out of his mind, Lime here is completely brain-dead. THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT SHE COULD LIFT THAT HAMMER. NONE. EVEN I WOULD NOT BE CAPABLE OF LIFTING IT. AND HER ENEMIES HAVE FIREARMS....

At least until personal shields and, cloaking devices became available.
Even then, a silenced firearm (Or rather, Stealth Pistol) would be a more logical choice. And there would still be an arms race between sensors and cloaking devices.

I am working on the whole "Personal Shields" thing, though.

I have always found that to be illogical as well. Jedi call firearms, the more advanced weapon, "uncivilized". And yet, they have the audacity to use barbaric, lawless contractions.

@RJ's rant on lime

Same principle that every fictional lady with a hammer of death has. The hammer defies physics and in all other cases happens to have any and all forms of repulsors/etc. etc. to keep it defying gravity until the banhammer-to-death part.

For why they use outdated weapons, everyone is under mind control to maximize human stupidity and the high-intelligence low-wisdom issue until the stupidity has defied logic and you can kill things with it. Why would someone do this? How am I supposed to know.
