For pete's sake, have none of you considered the application of using BOTH? It's annoying how so many decipt them as exclusive and very few people have the time or patience to run the sims for both...

<Insert all expletives of your choice here. :D >

Also, multi-universe theory. Physics becomes instantly stretched if you can find a similar one. :P

Well, the question was about a magical army versus a technological one. I suppose that using both would probably be the most logical idea, but I do not think that any engineer could be taught the magical arts, and no mage could be taught the technological arts. So I do find it somewhat unlikely, unless a group of scientists, engineers, and inventors allied themselves with a group of mages, adepts, and wizards.

Unfortunately, mages, adepts, and wizards do not exist. However, scientists, engineers, and inventors do...

RJ, you left out all of the things that they can do besides point defense, and "Magic Bolts".

For example, use some physics defying shit and cause a Volcanic Eruption that can cause the earth to be coverd with ash and dust.
And fire, did I mention FIRE... OH WAIT JENNA NO!

The RJRA Jenna technically cannot be classified a full magic-user, because she uses some technological weapons in addition to Mars Psynergy.

And I would think that magic has to comply to its own rules as well. It is not just godmodding, it has restrictions and downsides just like technology. And I cannot see "Magic Bolts" even denting heavy reactive armor, and saying that they can even come close to hitting aircraft is laughable to say the least.

If fiction was ever consistent and realistic, maybe that would be true. Unfortunately, it isn't.

With magic I could turn your fighter into a rusted ball of flying scrap if I wanted to with a thought, I could even shrink it down to the size of a pencil and make it a house pet.

Well...

It's All System-Dependant.

Don't even ASK, I can prepare a whole freaking essay about the right plot devices in relation to magic systems of varying kinds, except without technobabble or any real defining terms.

But don't ask me about geometry. PARTICULAR PROOF, Y U NO BE RELEVANT TO WHAT WE LEARNED THE ENTIRE YEAR?

What part of "magic has to comply to its own rules as well. It is not just godmodding" do you not understand? Fine, then. If you want to go the godmodding route, my temporal-shielded GTVA Colossus MKII is completely immune to magic, and can call upon the Halo Installations to remove all life from any world at any time if it ever so desires. Also, because it posses temporal shielding, nothing can possibly damage it because it is technically never anywhere at all.
