Less wide?

Hey there,

This is probably targeted specifically at admins, as they're the only ones who can edit it.

Do you think we could get the content section of this forum a bit less wide? I personally have a resolution of 1920x1080, and half the time it feels like I'm trying to read a document written in landscape...

I'm not sure what CSS element you apply to (I haven't fiddled with Invisionfree/zetaboards in a long time), but applying something like this in CSS would be really neat:

Code:

.forums{
width:90%;
max-width:750px;
min-width: 300px;
margin:auto;
}

Maybe you could be... Hmm... If Decel give you access to the Admin CP (like I did) then you could be able to alter our forum skin and such... But please check on Zetaboard Support forum if you need their help... Videogama was the guy who have made this forum from more than 2 years ago... If you check the calendar on the April of 2011... Then you might known about something about our pasts. However I do not know much about CSS coding... But I was the first one who invented the frame fror the first rankbars of this forum...

I personally have no idea how to do that. Spar might, but I don't think he wants to. Try zooming out and increasing the text size for your browser.

Decel did you forget how to give someone access to the Admin CP?

I cannot give someone access to the Admin CP without making them an admin. I can give someone access to some admin powers. However that seems unnecessary given that Dezonus has relatively few posts, and limited activity.

I don't quite understand the complaint. Are you complaining that you have a wide screen? Or that you don't like reading text that has more than twenty words per line? Or do you mean to say that you prefer text to be shaped more like a square, than a long thin rectangle? If you don't like how "wide" the text boxes are why not change the width of the window so that the text blocks aren't as long?

There's a bit of confusion as to what I mean. I copied this thread and the sites CSS to my PC, and discovered 2 things:

1. Zetaboards are styled mostly using tables...this method is very outdated and went out of use years and years ago...so much so that web devs cringe at its use
2. It's VERY easy to change it to how I'm suggesting

I took 2 screen grabs one of how it is now, one of how I'm suggesting. They're huge (and i dropped the quality so they load faster), so I'll post the links:

How it is now:

What I'm suggesting:

Right now, your post had about 45 words on the first line, with the tweaks, its about 23.

I don't need or expect AdminCP access for this.

All an admin needs to do is go into AdminCP.
Under Themes, click "Themes".
Pick the theme, and click "Edit Theme Appearance"

There should be a bunch of code on there. That code affects how the forum looks. Click at the front of it and hit enter twice to push it down a little bit (makes 0 effect to the forum, just is easier for you to read), then paste this exactly as it is:

Code:

#topic_viewer{
width:90%;
max-width:1000px;
min-width: 300px;
margin:auto;
}

That will make the threads much easier to read on a really wide screen (See the image above). Basically, makes it to be 90% of screen width, but not larger than 1000px, and not narrower than 300px.

Of course, you don't have to do that, but it would look a lot better if you did imo.

Oh... So I could be able to do that for the admin... As long I get back on my laptop as I get access to the Admin CP.

Well I just implemented your CSS in a backup theme... Just have to check the other threads through to see if it looks fine before implement it to our real theme...

Also check our new Coreling Theme! I've decided to made it public. It's not complete through... I just need to change the text color...

And here is the CSS of our new theme:
It's pretty long...

Code:

#topic_viewer{
width:90%;
max-width:1000px;
min-width: 300px;
margin:auto;
}
So let me guess... Is this the width limit?
