Right. Your shitty backyard ghetto-rigged car-battery-powered shiv launchers and rail guns have better range than, say, a hunting rifle. How many railgun shots do you expect to pull off before you need to completely replace the rails and power source, which could have been better spent on refrigeration.

Actually, i have just about as many high capacity batteries as someone using a hunting rifle would have rounds. These D sized batteries are worth about 500 charges, 350 full charged shots. Thats for a default setup with about 4 cells. I would have more than enough to keep charged, and unlike a hunting rifle, its silent, easy as hell to use (No recoil), has decent range, and best of all, anything metal, like nails or the like, can be used as ammo.

Or with a modified launcher system, it can basically use anything that fits in the slot as ammo.
Furthermore, shiv launchers were a joke. We call them bows. ._.
In any case, a hunting rifle is so loud, with so much recoil, and with limited ammo, its probably
one very impractical "mans man" weapon.

By the way, did you forget that i have a huge ass setup in terms of electricity?

Lastly, if you read it properly, like anyone should. The only thing being hooked up to car batteries in that post is a tesla cannon. An impractical, completely imperfect, giant ass weapon. So no.

My device is not meant for long ranges, simply meant for safety, such as clearing bitch hoes out of the way when I get cornered.

Otherwise, just build an underground bunker that is decked out, and have people guard the entrance. I will have a reasonable amount of space,
along with a good food supply and materials to grow more food if necessary.

I would make a few of those air cannons, and give other people AK-74u's and light machine guns to guard. Also, swords and melee weapons if needed.

A good supply of pillows, a water source that is clean, and doctors that are well trained. Also, beds and blankets.

Eh, eh?

Reynard, methinks you are talking about a railgun. Also, batteries would be a terrible choice of energy storage, you would fry them after the first shot from the monumental current drain. Gotta use high discharge capacitors.

Oh, you've never seen the railguns that I have made.
Theres the ones that need a proper power source, and the hand held ones.
What you said holds true to the big ones. ( The ones that shoot metal rods through
cars. )

The hand held ones work just as well with about any power source i hook them up to.

Another thing, railgun, MAC, they are the same things, but using different output sources, and the like.
Theres 3 types.

-Magnetic Acceleration Launcher.

-Railgun

-Gauss weapon class.

The first is a projectile being propelled by an internal, likely 2-3 cell direct current flow. Also known as a coilgun.
Easy to homemake.

The second is a Alternating current flow. Usually 5-7 cell, with 12 gauge copper/gold wiring around a barrel.
Much higher capacity than a coilgun.

Gauss weapon class = All of the above, and some other subclasses.

Do not be so quick to throw magnetic-launched projectile weapons out of the window. While they still are rather inefficient compared to conventional firearms, if properly built, they can be almost as effective. I have created one myself, and I actually say that I would prefer a magnetic rifle to a conventional one in a Zombie Apocalypse any day for one very simple reason; they use electricity to propel their rounds, not explosives. Meaning that if you have the tools, you can fabricate new ammunition for the weapon. With conventional firearms, the only way you can find more ammunition is to scavenge for it.

Directed energy weapons are even better at sustainability, but the only viable ones available at this progress level are basically long-range fire-starters. And fire is a bad weapon to use against zombies (Unless you are a Pyro or Mars Adept or something) because it relies on the pain and psychological effects of burning, which is obviously not a thing with them. Still better than nothing when you run out of ammunition, I suppose.

Also, you know what? I think if we stay indoors long enough, they'll just rot to death.

OK so, as I said, my creation shoots compressed air, like, REALLY compressed air. This can be
made easily, since air is what powers it. You will just fill it back up with air and it compresses it
itself.

I also say that making a gun that shoots acid in a long line would be pretty magnificent. The way it would work, is
you shoot it and it would act like a water gun and shoot the acid out at high speeds. The trick is that the acid
does not go very EXTREMELY fast through the air, but it will still go fast. The reason it is dangerous is because
the acid will sit on the enemy and kill them. So if you have good aim, and can deal with wind, and "bullet drop"
this would be ideal.

I find that I am thinking of a ton of homemade deadly weapons, however they would be a challenge to make.
Also, I would not find it useful to make it if I was unaware of the apocalypse. A waste of materials and time.

Maybe someday though.
