Jonathan's Lady

I've started a "Super dad" page for the C/J moments we all love. Let me know if there are moments that you would like to see there :) |

Can't Stay Away

Just browsed through the site for the first time in quite a while. Great job with the new stuff. And Schneider is a Christian. I knew it! The fanfic I have mulling around in my head has some Christian undertones in it (as it relates to parenting) and this news makes that all much better. OK, so I am not going to post in all the forums, and will address some stuff here, but .... OH MY GOODNESS! He falls off the roof and then says, "Dammit Kal-El." I about fell out of my chair. He went pretty psycho in this episode and I started wondering about his mortality as well. I did like him giving the MB a good butt kicking though. Yay Jonathan! And what the heck is he doing keeping stuff from Clark? I mean important stuff. It sort of all seemed planned by him. But, was it him still? Did Jor-El sort of take over? OK people (addressing Smallville writers here). Don't kill off our dad. We need other dads to see what it is like to be a super-dad. And Jonathan Kent is the perfect role-model for that. **catches breath** OK, that's enough for now. |

OK. Great Super-dad moment I would like to see. At the end of Rosetta when Clark is nearly beside himself after hearing the "...Rule them with strength..." message. Jonathan had quite a moment comforting CK. I don't remember the exact words he used, but this super-dad moment should find a place on the super-dad page. You know, I was browsing through the page some more and came to the "Articles" page. Did you notice that every one of the 3 "Jonathan Articles" lauding Pa Ken was either from a Christian writer or a Christian webpage or publication? Christians sure do appreciate when good family values are shown on TV, especially TV being what it is these days. And, they aren't afraid to promote the shows that they feel are showing the values. Most of the time, fantasy/sci-fi shows get the cold-shoulder or just don't get noticed at all in any other medium besides the fantasy/sci-fi pages. It sort of makes me proud to be a Smallville fan. |

I know what you mean, being a Christian myself!
:) It's great to see a Christian actor being able to bring some of those values to the screen, and his fellow Christians appreciating it. Smallvillian, wonderful job on the new page. You really do great work. I'd like to see a picture from the cave in "Exile" there, except most of the pictures of that scene don't seem to turn out very well -- too much bright light. Perhaps one from the fight in "Phoenix" would do instead. But you know what I'm getting at -- Superdad will sacrifice anything to save his son. (Although after last night, I'm almost tempted to wish that he hadn't . . . :( ) |

Thanks! And roman, you so took the words out of my mouth. Leave our poor dad alone. Or at least leave him no worse for wear in the end. Sheesh. I think everyone fell out of their chair ehrn he said "Kal-el." It was the collective thud heard 'round the world. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark, I tell you. |

That it was. It's strange -- I remember having three distinct reactions in that one split second: 1) "Oh, my, Jonathan lost his temper." 2) "My gosh, he swore!" 3) "WHAT did he just say??? EEEEEK!" (This last word out loud, inadvertently.) Anyway, to get back on topic -- I see you got the Exile picture up! Thanks! How about one from the barn scene in "Metamorphosis," where he tells Clark that his feelings are what make him human? Can't think of a caption, but I love that scene. And I'll try to think of some more picture requests to keep you busy. :) You do spoil us so -- I keep worrying that you're going to rebel one of these days against our constant demands! (By the way, which episode does the picture come from where they're talking in the kitchen?) |

I've thought of some more picture ideas: the scene in "Rogue" where Jonathan is in jail, and Clark confesses to lying, and instead of bawling him out, Jonathan touches his hand through the glass (so to speak) and is very gentle with him. And the scene in "Whisper" where he helps Clark train his hearing (something along the lines of "Super dads help their kids develop their talents," perhaps!). I like the one you put up from "Slumber." That scene was almost all that made that episode worth watching, in my opinion. |

Done. I couldn't find a good image of that one scene but I'll keep looking. I did use one from Rogue though :) |

You do good work, my friend! I especially like the way the two "Whisper" images are superimposed on each other. |

That page is great! I love it! But I think that pic where Jonathan is holding Clark after he was shot has an aww factor of at least 10 if not more! :p |

Thank you :D There was no good shot of them together in that scene and it looses the effect to have only one of them present so I said "Gosh darn it, I'll make them both be there!" lol. So I took the shot of Clark listening carefully and then took the shot of Jonathan whispering, cropped it and turned *that* image black and white so that the two images would be distinct as they faded into one another. Weew ;) |

The fact that John Schneider is a Christian is what I like about the show. I actually have said that if they take Jonathan Kent out I am not going to bother watching the rest of the seasons. Clark is nothing without his terrific dad and mom. Jonathan has Christian values inbedded in his character that I am all for. |

You know, I worried I was the only one that felt that way. I don't believe I could watch the rest if Jonthan died. There would just be this whole dynamic missing that to me is just as important as Lex and Clark. Not to mention that I am just not good with angst and would be just be so upset. |

Pretty please, may we have a picture from tonight's episode on the Superdad page? I know the healing scene was the big one, but you know what I really liked? Jonathan and Martha sleeping on the floor with Clark afterwards. That just made me turn to mush inside, sentimental sap that I am. But use whichever picture you like -- you're the site boss! I just really think we need at least one. |
