I'm feeling pretty freaked out right about now!! What did Jonathan promise that was MORE than his health? I was so sure all along that was all it was. If this is going to lead to alien possession, I think I'm going to be sick. (I literally let out a screech when Jonathan said, "Kal-El," and scared my dad half to death! I don't think he believed me when I said it was just something I saw on TV -- he kept asking if I was all right!) |

Jonathan's Lady

That's what I think he promised. :bawl: I think that's why doctor Swan said "if that's how you feel..." when Clark said he wouldn't let his father die. I think Swan knows what Jorel is waiting for and while we think Jonathan is upset because of his health, it's a bait and switch and he's really upset that he gave Jor-el the right to be Clark's living father but plainly Jor-el told Jonathan it would be much later. :( Logically it's the only thing of value Jonathan would have to offer. |

Well, let's try to be upbeat about this. Trying . . . TRYING . . . T-R-Y-I-N-G . . . nuts, it's not going very well. What I mean, though, is that if that does happen to Jonathan, I KNOW Clark's going to find a way to defeat it. He has to. Surely they wouldn't let Jonathan go for two more seasons (or however many they're planning) as the Voice of Jor-El. The thought is too icky for words. Besides, the neighbors would surely catch on before long. By the way, the Jonathan-related scenes from last night's trailer that I posted about in the spoiler section here -- Jonathan sitting on the couch, and Clark walking towards him -- didn't happen here, so they're probably in an upcoming episode. (Unless they cut them but used them in the promo anyway, which seems highly unlikely.) And I'm not entirely sure that they used Clark's line from the trailer, "Dad, what's happening to you?" It would have been a perfect fit, though. I'll have to check again -- maybe they did use it and I missed it. |

Smallville Tigress... On the Prowl! *GROWL*

Yeah, Clark said it to him in the barn after he caught him talking to the key. If they do go the Jor-El takes over Jonathan's body, I hope it's only a temp thing!!! |

I started thinking last night -- maybe it's not possession after all. I mean, it's weird enough just having the dead alien's voice come out of the cave wall, but it sort of makes sense according to the show's logic (in a convoluted kind of way). But I can't think how, even on this show, they could have him possess Jonathan's body. But if it's not possession . . . then what? Something else caught my attention last night. Clark said to Jonathan, "I thought you sacrificed your health." He didn't say "your life." Did the writer word it that way to leave the option open that it WAS his life, after all? It would fit with all that dialogue about facing his mortality. But even if that's it, I'm SURE Clark will find a way to defeat it. I'm convinced that's what the series finale title, "Covenant," refers to. Jonathan made one for Clark, now Clark is going to make one for Jonathan. |
