"Come with me now or your father DIES!" Wow, did anyone think "Jor-El" sounded like General Zod at that point? Heh, same actor, after all. :D |

"COME to me Kal-El" Sounded very much like "KNEEL before Zod." Yeah. Very bad stuff. "She served her purpose. As has Jonathan Kent." **ZAP** Bad Jor-El. Bad. Bad! :censored: I did like the shield symbol surrounding Clark at the end, though. |

I still maintain that Jor-El is being mis-understood. I am NOT happy with his treatment of Jonathan and Clark, but I think when it is all said and done (series finale :( ) That we are going to be singing a different tune. |

Jonathan's Lady

All I could think was "Holy crap! Someone scarier than Lionel!!" I don't know who's been in the spoiler folder but I've been arguing for days that I didn't think JE was good---but oh know, he was just "misunderstood." Riiiiggghhhht. That's why he killed a girl and only didn't kill Jonathan to get Clark!! :censored: |

I really don't think TPTB are going to mess with the mythos to that extreme. Jor-El has never been a bad guy. But then, Pete has never been black and Chloe has never existed, so I could be wrong. |

But I heard there was an incarnation where JE was bad and wanted Clark to rule but Jonathan stopped him. He used and killed that girl. He played Clark's fears and promised him *his mother.* |

Never heard of that one. If that is the case, then Smallville may be following that line. :ahh: |

Jonathan's Lady

That's what I've heard mentioned several times. I think it's mentioned in the JE thread in the spoiler folder too. The stuff about the girl and all, I was talking about SV not the storyline, just to be clear. |

Jonathan has served his purpose?? DIE, JOR-EL, DIE!!! I hope the season 4 premiere has Clark finding the source of the voice and bashing it to a pulp.
 I must say I'm awfully surprised they took that direction with Jor-El, though, even after your warnings, Smallvillian. Maybe you guys are right about their following that one obscure comic-book storyline (does anyone know more about it? I'd like to hear more). Maybe that's why the show's creators were saying that no one would guess where they were gong with this? Perhaps they want to establish that all Clark got from Krypton that was of any value was his powers, and that everything really worth knowing, such as ethics and morals, he learned from Jonathan and Martha? I'd be fine with that. :) But still, it's surprising. Sheesh, no wonder Jonathan's been depressed and doubting himself. I'd feel pretty bad too if that was what I'd had to promise. But he DID have to promise it -- and he has suffered horribly for it -- and he did try as hard as he could to break the promise. (No wonder there was a "rift" between him and Martha. That makes sense now. You really couldn't blame her at all. But I don't think they're going in the direction of "permanent rift.") So now what's going to happen to him?? I really don't think he's dead -- but what if he's in a coma for a long time? What if he wakes up with amnesia or something stupid and soap-opera-ish like that? What if the electric shock REALLY did a number on his heart this time? What if I'm wrong and Martha still can't forgive him? And how in the world are they going to get Clark out of the wall? :( |

I'm still trying to figure out why Jonathan had to make a deal with Jor-el after all. I mean, that was not the only way he could bring Clark home. I know this is gonna sound mean, but Martha and Clark both have a right to be pretty pissed at Jonathan. I mean, he made a major choice about Clark's life that wasn't his to make! They we're talking about Clark like he was a piece of property that they were fighting for ownership of. That wasn't right. I don't think Jonathan had the right to promise that. This deal has been bugging me all season. I guess coz I don't see why Jonathan thought it was his only option to get Clark back. |

But remember the sequence of events? JE: "Will you sacrifice anything . . .?" Jonathan: "Yes! For my son I'll do anything." JE blasts him. And only THEN, in a scene we don't see, does Jonathan learn what he's actually promised to do. All he got beforehand was a yes-or-no question that he had to answer in a split second. I'll bet he thought he was sacrificing his own life, or at any rate something that would directly affect only him. Still, Clark doesn't know that. I wonder if he felt betrayed by Jonathan? We saw Kara accuse J. of betrayal, and then we didn't get another J/C conversation until the cave. Big omission, in my opinion. I'd like to have gotten some idea of what Clark was thinking about this particular event. Of course, remembering just how bad he'd been in Metropolis, he would probably realize that drastic measures had been called for. (And by the way, how exactly was Jonathan supposed to "return" Clark to JE? It's not like the cave had a library drop slot!) |

heh funny, Roman! I meant why did Jonathan feel going to make a deal with Jor-el was his only option? That made no sense to me from Exile. I would think Clark did feel betrayed by Jonathan. And from his POV, I wouldn't blame him. No, I'm not bashing Jonathan at all. I'm just not at all thrilled with the deal he made. It wasn't his place to offer Clark to Jor-el like some object. That choice should have been up to Clark. That is also why I think Jor-el is evil for forcing Clark to go to him by threatening to kill Jonathan. Face it, SV's version of Jor-el is evil. |

But how else was he going to get Clark back? The only other option I can see was green kryptonite, and Clark would expect that and be miles away before Jonathan could finish pulling it out of his pocket. |

I was going to say the same thing. It was either use the old kryptonite standby which would be a little boring for fans and expected by Clark OR have some mysterious deal that gives Jonathan some kick@ss superpowers, gives the fans an awesome fight scene, and gives the LJLS a collective heart-attack (no pun intended). |

The green K is exactly what I was talking about. Yeah, I know what you're saying about that being redundant for the fans and all, and the fight was cool, but still. It just wasn't logical. Then again, this is Smallville! heh. I guess I should learn by now, Smallville and logic don't mix! ;) |
