K-Site is now taking nominations for their annual awards. The link is right there on the home page. Let's get over there and make sure some good Jonathan scenes and lines make the cut!

(I have to say I think it's disgusting that they have a category for best scene involving nudity. I think I'll put down "shirtless Jonathan in 'Resurrection,'" just to be cute. :) )

I loved Michael Rosenbaum's remark on the Season 2 DVD commentary (forgive me if I've already posted it -- I can't remember whether I did or not): "Schneider did 463 push-ups before this scene." :lol

:D LOL! Yeah, ok, you are right, he looks good no matter what. It's just that I have pictures from when he was younger that look even better! (If that is even possible!)

Honestly, I think he looks better now! I think it's the hair -- that '80s hair cracks me up every time I see old pictures of him. I'm always teasing Dukegirl about it when she posts some of those pictures over at K-site.

Just to clarify for voting purposes -- that picture's from "Red," not "Resurrection." That scene's not eligible for a vote this year. Too bad, because you get a much better view in the "Red" scene! But this is the scene you can vote for:

Yeah, he did have some pretty intresting haircuts at times. I don't care much for the "Dukes of Hazzard" hair cuts, but I liked the ones he had in the late 80's. I like him in longer hair. And if he has a beard too, that's even better, IMO. There's a picture of him I really like on the cover of an old muscle magazine - he's wearing hot pink and black spandex. I know that sounds kind of strange, but if you don't pay too much attention to the hair, the body looks really good! Made me blush first time I saw it! (or this one might be more appropriate) (That's bug eyes with the tongue hanging out, incase you can't tell, LOL!) Ok, I did some of both. I thought he looked pretty good. In fact I bought the magazine off Ebay. :D

So, has someone already nominated him for that picture, or scene, from Resurrection? I'd be happy to vote for it, and I'll send all the John fans I know to go vote for it

Hot pink and black spandex???? Suddenly I feel a new appreciation (a deep gratitude, even) for plaid!! :D

Anyway . . .

What they're doing right now is accepting nominations. You can nominate whatever scenes, lines, writers, directors, etc., you want to see on the ballot. Then they'll collect all the responses, see which ones got the most votes, and make up the ballots accordingly, and then they'll hold the actual voting. (Kind of like the Academy Awards.)

As I mentioned earlier, I felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea of a category for "best scene with nudity." I thought the "Slumber" and "Obsession" scenes, which are sure to get the most votes, were a little gratuitous (though they could have been a lot worse, and on another show they probably WOULD have been a lot worse). But I thought it would be neat if we could get "shirtless Jonathan in 'Resurrection'" on the ballot in that category. Number one, it's not gratuitous or explicit; number two, it would provide an alternative for all of us who didn't like those other scenes to vote for; and number three, as Smallvillian perfectly put it, it's "shirtless Jonathan! Woohoo! ;) "

I shamefully admit I didn't see that scene until ya'll mentioned it  I was so angry when Clark *threw* Jonathan into the car, hurt him and walked away, that I changed the channel. That was my limit of bad Clark. Punch every other man in SV but don't you dare touch Jonathan--the man who loved and protected you all these years, mister. Had to turn it and flip back when they kicked Bad Clark's behind. So I had to go find it on the DVD and all I could say was  :spit:  "Hellooooo, Jonathan!"

I agree, bad Clark is way overrated. Sure, he looks cool in his shades, but he's arrogant and hurts people horribly. Almost worse than his throwing Jonathan into the truck is the part where he says, "You're not my father." You can see the shock and heartbreak on Jonathan's face. :( Thank goodness he soon finds out it's the Red K talking and not his son!

(This reminds me -- I've been thinking a shot of Jonathan holding Clark in "Red" right after they break the ring would be a great addition to the "Superdad" page!)

The only thing that's even worth the whole episode is that that was a shamelessly beautiful shot of JS's bod. :oh: I say, hey, the man's a farmer out in the hot sun all sweaty--nothin' wrong with him walking around without a shirt now and then

But on a more serious note-- That hitting scene honestly offended me and I'll tell you why. If that had been Martha, there would have been a riot on the boards but because it was Jonathan it was apparently okay. No it wasn't. Our society says men cannot hit women--and lets be honest, it's because men are for the most part far more able to dominate because of size and strength. Given that standard-*aside* from the fact that that was his father-- Clark was just as much a danger to *Jonathan* as he was to Martha. The fact that it was two men makes no difference to me here. What mattered to me was that one of the two had no way whatsoever to defend himself and was in very real danger in every way that Martha would have been had Clark chosed to strike *her.* I see no difference in Clark hitting either one of the two.

I'll get to work on that pic :)

You make a very good point. If people really thought it through, you'd think that would be enough to make bad Clark a little less popular. But I guess a leather jacket and shades sometimes just make people lose their senses completely.

Of course, I'm not saying I might not be the same way if Jonathan ever showed up in a leather jacket and shades. . . .

(Thanks for putting the picture up. I like the part about the cow patty! :lol )

Thanks :) And yes, Clark hitting Jonathan was just as repulsive to me as Clark hitting Martha. The creators were just too ignorant to see that both were just as bad since they are both his parents and neither one of them could defend themselves against Clark in any way. This wasn't Bubba down the street shoving his father, this was Clark, a boy who could easily have put the man in the hospital and there's nothing Jonathan could have done to stop him. He was just as helpless as any woman would have been against a violent man-- he was more at Clark's mercy since a woman could put up *some* fight against the average man. It put Clark in a horrible light and quite honestly I'm ashamed of the creators for this shortsightedness and the fact that they were making light of this during the commentary, Clark "opening a can of woop-ass." :whatever: as if it was amusing.

They added insult by saying that these were all things Clark felt deep down. They're basically saying our Clark deep down has wanted to physically attack his father to get his way and that "you're not my father and you never were" was also within Clark. Clark loves Jonathan and not even in his darkest corners do I think he doesn't feel that Jonathan is his father. Red is garbage IMO. All they wanted was shock value.

The K-Site Award nominations are up, or most of them, anyway. Unfortunately, shirtless Jonathan didn't make the cut. :( But the good news is that John S. got a nomination for favorite director! :bounce: Truthfully, I haven't made up my mind yet whether to vote for him or Greg Beeman in that category, but I did vote to give John a nomination, since at the very least he deserved to be on the ballot. So glad he made it!

You can look at the nominees at www.kryptonsite.com, but you can't vote yet, except in the leading actor category. Apparently they keep this going all summer.
