Just what it sounds like: "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," except with John Schneider! Thanks to roman for the idea.

So I'll start with my all-time favorite actor, and one whom John reminds me of in many ways (and one who has the same initials!). How many degrees between John Schneider and Jimmy Stewart?

I just found the answer to my own question! Jimmy Stewart was in "Shenandoah" with Denver Pyle, who was, of course, Uncle Jesse on "Dukes."

Hmm, maybe I made that one too easy. Can anyone think of a harder one?

I've never done this before, and I'm stupid, so...Am I to assume we pick another person/topic and see how we can relate it to John. (Sorry, it's just been one of those days when my brain won't work )

You pick a person (an actor) that seems to be totally unrelated to John and see if you can find any common movies, TV shows, or co stars, etc. that tie the two together. Is that correct?

Hey Renee - how about one of John's favorites - John Wayne.

Dawn, it's more like finding a chain of people that eventually leads to John (right?) I've only played a couple of times lol. I so do not know enough John Wayne stuff to do this lol unless he happened to do something with Johnny Cash. Johnn Cash was on Dr. Quinn and so was John S. lol. Wait? I thought JW and Jimmy did a movie. If so, we could follow that chain again lol

I thought of a loop though...

John worked with Jane Seamore on Dr. Quinn
Jane Seamore and Chris Reeve did "Somewhere in Time"
Chris Reeve plays Dr. Swann on Smallville (and was the original Superman)
John plays young Superman's dad on Smallville lol

That's true, Dawn! (One of these days I want to see that remake!) But the way the game is played is to try to connect two actors in six steps or less. For some reason, it started as a game where you're supposed to pick any actor and try to link him or her with Kevin Bacon. But it's mutated to where you can try to link any two actors.

For example, connecting Martin Short and John . . . .

Martin Short was in a musical version of "The Goodbye Girl" with Bernadette Peters
Bernadette was in the revival of "Annie Get Your Gun" with Tom Wopat
Tom was in "Dukes" with John

(I used plays and TV here, but there are various versions of the game. Some people use only movies, for example.)

The only thing I'm not sure of is how you count the links. Different websites seem to give different explanations. Can someone tell me, would you count Martin -- Bernadette -- Tom -- John as three degrees or four?

Okay, John Wayne -- let me think about that one. . . .

Edited to add: Whoops, I think you and I posted at the same time, Smallvillian! :D

Okay, got one:

John Wayne -- Katharine Hepburn ("Rooster Cogburn and the Lady")
Katharine Hepburn -- Christopher Reeve ("A Matter of Gravity" on Broadway -- thanks to Wayne for mentioning that in the General forum!)
Christopher Reeve -- John Schneider ("Smallville")

Can anyone think of a shorter chain between the two of them?

I've always played the Kevin Bacon Game with movies. But, yeah, there are versions where it is played with ANY entertainment medium.

And to answer another question, the first link is a degree of one. Hence:

John Wayne -- Katharine Hepburn ("Rooster Cogburn and the Lady")
Katharine Hepburn -- Christopher Reeve ("A Matter of Gravity" on Broadway -- thanks to Wayne for mentioning that in the General forum!)
Christopher Reeve -- John Schneider ("Smallville")

Is a 3rd degree link.

I played the Kevin Bacon game by walkie talkie driving all the way from Minneapolis to Columbus, OH while driving to a gaming convention. That's over 10 hours of Bacon goodness. We had to stay within range of the other carload of friends that was driving with us, but it sure passed the time.

By the way, I am well aware that I don't have a life!

Can we count movies that haven't been released yet? Because I just found one that would work great.

Oh, what the heck. The movie will be out pretty soon, I think. And we're pretty much making up our own rules, anyway!

Mandy Moore -- Michael Rosenbaum ("Racing Stripes") -- John Schneider ("Smallville")

(Hey, roman, your car game sounds kind of fun. Much more interesting than the alphabet game!)

Well....that wasn't exactly the one I was thinking about...but it'll work!

The one I was thinking of was

Mandy Moore--Julie Andrews (The Princess Diaries)
Julie Andrews--Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins)
Dick Van Dyke--John Schneider (Diagnosis Murder.)
