DTS has a scan up of a new "Sci-Fi" article about "Smallville." There's not a whole lot new there, but I mention it because of two tiny little tidbits of information about the Kents -- namely, that they're still having money troubles (no surprise there) and that Clark will be pushing them to accept him as an adult.

Might I suggest that if Clark wants to be accepted as an adult, he try acting like an adult?

Amen!

I always wondered how the Kents were so well off in Exodus and in the three months Clark was gone, it went banrupt. They were running the farm LONG before Clark came along.

I think the Kents wee in debt before "Exodus." Remember when Clark came down and the Kents were paying their bills and Lex wanted to help them in the first season. In the second season what Jonathan says about the electric bill in "Heat" and when Martha's father comes to town in "Redux." It always struck me that the Kents weren't rich and had to watch everything in the show money-wise.

Yes, but in Exodus (or Calling?) Clark says "Why is this happening now when things were going so well. The new baby's coming. The farm's out of debt. Things are going well with Lana."

In "Rush" the Kents also say they can finally start saving for Clark's college so I would say they were doing well before Clark left :)

It is kind of strange. I guess Jonathan was younger and stronger in those days -- although he certainly wasn't any slouch in seasons 1 and 2. But also, he'd gotten used to relying on Clark. Didn't he say once that Clark saved them the cost of five or six farmhands? Maybe they were doing well but not well enough to hire all the help they needed.
