From K-Site: "Jonathan confronts Clark after Coach Quigley calls to tell him that Clark made the team. 'I was going to tell you,' Clark says. 'When?' Jonathan asks." Uh-oh! :waggle: |

This may sound strange, but it sounds like a repeat of "Hothead." I wouldn't be surprised 9if Clark quits the team again before playing his first game again. |

You're right, JF, it sounds almost EXACTLY like "Hothead." I can't imagine why they're recycling that old plot! I knew about Clark's being on the football team, but I'd hoped he'd have the guts, not to mention the courtesy, to go talk to his father about it instead of letting him find out for himself. So much for being more mature! |

Jonathan's Lady

Well, maybe Jonathan isn't so much upset as just disappointed that Clark didn't say anything about it. I'm going to wager that Clark confesses that he thought Jonathan would be angry and Jonathan probably says he still has some concerns but that Clark is older now and has a better handle on his powers and then adds that he's okay with it but that Clark should have told them what he was doing. Looking back on hothead before we really "knew" Jonathan, I must confess, I thought 'man, chill out. You're so paranoid and mucho strict.' But now knowing Clark a bit better and Jonathan a lot better, I see it totally differently. Clark has shown poor judegment on so many occasions. That doesn't just happen over night. This is something Jonathan had to be aware of as Clark was growing up, and Jonathan was responsible for keeping a lid on all those things to protect Clark--Imagine: "I didn't mean to throw the basketball through the barn wall" with Pete standing there at ten years old. "Oh, that was just an old, weak section of wood," says Jonathan. Do we really believe nothing like that ever happened when Clark getting into this much trouble as a *teenager* who is supposed to know better? I think it's safe to say that Jonathan was scared because he had reason to be and I can't imagine living with the fear that your child could be taken from you or accidently do serious damage to someone else because he wasn't thinking clearly. I don't think the man is given nearly enough credit. |

The part I like is when Clark is assuring his dad that of course he would be careful, responsible, and all the rest of it, and then later he sits there and daydreams about showing off his powers to everyone and, yes, impressing a girl. Teenage boys will be teenage boys! |

Not only that but he does use his powers to push past people and be a hot dog. And Jonathan is supposed to think he's not a little overzealous? |
