Krikey! I almost forgot to do one. Okay, here we go:

What moment made Jonathan one of your favorites, made you think for the first time, "Wow, he's great"?

Whoa, wait a minute! You haven't answered last week's question yet! And here I've been waiting and waiting to see what you were going to say to Jonathan. If you answer that one, I'll answer this one! :D

I think I totally flipped for Jonathan when he ran out of the storm cellar after Nixon. Anyone can be all talk, like many tv dads-- but when he ran out there with that look on his face, not willing to chance letting him get away, I think that was the first time I saw an any TV character such devotion and love for his family that if he had to face hell, fire, and brimstone, he was going to do it and do it without complaint. I was just wowed. Liked him a lot all along but that's what really got me.

I'd have to think on that one, but one of those times was probably in "Red." Everything he says and does in that episode is that of a concerned father. Especially at the end when he smashes the ring and Clark collapses. Jonathan just takes Clark in his arms and holds him like he's a little boy. I found out that a lot of parents, no matter how old you are, will still think of you as little.

I started watching in season 2 (though I think I'd caught one or two scenes in season 1 while channel-surfing) and liked Jonathan best right from the beginning. But the moment when I added him to my list of all-time favorite fictional characters was in "Exile," when he said he'd do anything for his son. He'd had to risk his life for Clark before, but that had to be the scariest moment ever, speaking to some extraterrestrial voice coming out of nowhere and agreeing to do what it wanted, without even knowing yet what that was. But he didn't hesitate for a second.

The odd thing is, that happened for me before I even got to see "Exile"! My VCR messed up and I missed it the first time it aired. But I caught that moment right at the beginning of "Phoenix," when they were showing the "Previously on 'Smallville'" clips. I watched that one little part quite a few times to tide me over till I actually got to watch the entire scene! :D

I was hooked right from the pilot. It wasn't just the major things, but all those little things that made up the whole. Even in Hothead when most saw him as an overbearing father not letting his son play football, you had to understand his reasons why.

He wasn't being an ass, he was protecting the son he held most dear, and didn't want to lose over a trivial game. He was proud of Clark, but he didn't put that pride before his responsibilities as a dad. :)

There are too many small but meaningful moments to list, and all need adding to what everyone else has already said ;) :D

Yeah :) Like I said, I liked him * a lot* from the beginning, the hand on the shoulder, always talking eye to eye, and not too busy to give his undivided attention. I thought he was an awsome character but like I said, when he ran out into that twister without a second thought, my mouth fell open at the pure intesity of his love for his family in that moment. That was my big "wow" moment. :o
