"Tempest" won round 1 -- now it's time for round 2. Rules same as before: Vote for best performance from JS in an episode, not for best storyline. And if you have any trouble getting your vote through, make sure you PM me. (Note to Jonathan Fan: I forgot to tell you earlier how much I loved your description of "Lineage" in the nomination thread. "You see that Jonathan is not perfect. He looks great in red plaid though." Really, how could anyone sum it up any better than that? ;) That was great.) |

Oh, but I liked Lineage, and the way he confronted Bryce in Fever, and Nixon in Vortex....this is so darn tough! oh and then there was the confrontation with Clark's grandpa in Redux... |

One episode I like watching a lot (besides "Rosetta") is "Red." Not because Clark is bad. The Jonathan scenes are well writte. You could just see how much the man is hurting over his son's behavior and how much it was hurting him to shine that meteor rock on him to bring him back. |

I had to stick with Vortex. Everything in it with Jonathan was Emmy worthy, IMO. When Nixon is taunting him and finally says that Clark isn't even human, you can see the angry tears shining in his eyes until he just can't take it any more and decks the guy. The pure anger and coldness about him as he stalked closer and Nixon scooted away after falling--I would have been *running." Then take a look at his face just before the cell phone rings--after Nixon says "Clark doesn't belong to you. He belongs to the world." Jonathan is about to have a nervous breakdown when Nixon turns to answer the phone. It's his worst nightmare. The world would know about Clark and destroy him. Then later when he cries when telling the story about almost taking Clark to a hospital... :beg: I shall have to make caps! |

I'll have to agree with the caps there. They just say it all. It's like Jonathan's emotions about hearing that his son wasn't even human and that he belongs to the world was all out and it was hurting him. Nixon was a creep with no tact at all and he didn't care that he was ripping jonathan's heart out with those mean statements. |

Yep and after he showed mercy, the creep was going to kill him. Needless to say, I didn't shed a tear when Lex blew the guy away! |

Just had to add this one: Posted Image Reminds me of the line "The original Superman" in your avatar, Smallvillian. ;) Actually, though, that's the one thing I've never understood about "Vortex." (I mean, aside from the fact that Martha is worried to death about her missing husband but Lana still manages to make their conversation all about her. ) Just a minute before this, Jonathan had been lying there barely able to move -- and still pinned under something, I think. How on earth was he supposed to be able to do this?? |

Well, I think it's one of those "bear protecting its young" moments--like the mother who lifts a car off her kid or more recently the kids who lifted the van off their dad. Before, it was just his life on the line but whatever else he knew about what Nixon planned, he knew exposure to Kryptonite would kill Clark and we all know that if anything could cause a surge of unbelievable adrenaline in Jonathan, it would be Clark's literal life being threatened. :) |

*sings* He believes he can FLYYYYYYY* I voted for Exodus. Mainly because of the Jonathan scenes toward the end. It wasn't the best Father/son moment but it was AWESOME performance. I still get the shivers and the misty-eyes when I see it. It's almost scary. |

Yes, come to think of it, adrenaline must run in the family!
:D Make sure you get your vote in if you haven't already -- we've got a three-way tie for first! And you're right about "Exodus," Livvie (though I voted for "Fever" myself). He did an amazing job there. That line, "And how is our baby?" and then turning away from Clark afterwards . . . oh, man! :bawl: |
