Don't mess with JS
We've finally got a winner for season 2: "Fever." So now it's time to vote on best season 3 performance! Personally, I think this was John's strongest season, in terms of acting as well as storyline. (And judging from the fact that we have 11 nominations -- or 12 if you count "Exile" and "Phoenix" separately -- I think I may not be alone in that opinion!)

I haven't taken the time to write anything about my own pick in previous rounds, but I guess I will now, primarily because I think this was his best performance of the entire series so far. (Also because I have some really boring reading to do for my class, and I don't want to do it. ;) ) I could make a good case for "Exile/Phoenix" or "Talisman" -- or a few others for that matter -- but "Legacy" was the performance that really blew me away. He had to bring out a whole new side of Jonathan -- despair, fear, and greater remorse than we'd ever seen from him before -- and he did it so well it was just haunting. Even though I didn't know what was torturing Jonathan, JS made me ache for the man. I still can't watch even one of his scenes from that episode without starting to get depressed! The scene in the graveyard was especially strong, but the whole performance was just beautifully done.

So that's my pick. Your turn!

What really scared me in that one scene was how he started talking about the event in Exodus. I'd thought that he'd probably felt guilty about Clark running, but to hear the actual words coming out of his mouth was more than a little unnerving.

I like "Legacy." It was a chance to see Jonathan not be himself for once. The part that really unnerved me was to hear Jonathan call Clark Kal-el. That's what made me think Jor-el took over Jonathan's body to begin with.

Just a reminder to get your votes in as soon as you can -- I'd like to start the final round later today. Thanks! ;)

(And when you've done that, give yourself a treat -- head up to the "JS Gallery" thread and take a look at the newest image. Thanks, Oieura! )

My vote goes to Covenant…I think working with special effects is difficult & JS did a believable portrayal of being strangled by this unknown force and still pulled off being concern/ self-giving for his son all in one scene. :coolyo:
