Call me crazy -- I very well may be -- but I find myself liking Jason and Lana together! (Except for the fact that they get too much screentime.) They certainly have more chemistry than Clark and Lana, and the new pairing seems to have done some good things for Kristin's acting, just as working with Erica has done for Tom. I didn't think either of them was bad before, but I just think they do better in the romantic scenes with different partners.

But here's one weird side effect of that: Now that Kristin is doing so well working opposite JA, it makes her other scenes look not so great by comparison! Her acting seemed really uneven last night, something I've never noticed before. For instance, what was up with her in that scene where she saw herself in the mirror? Half the time she just had a blank-eyed expression, and the other half she was doing these strange silent-movie-heroine gestures with her hands. The editing wasn't too great in that scene either; maybe that was part of the problem.

Or maybe I'm just over-analyzing and need to get a life. Wouldn't be the first time.

I'm glad Clark has great parents like John and Martha teaching Clark whats Right and Wrong but I still think Clark knows what he's doing when he joined the football team it's only gonna last for one year til graduation if somebody comes to Clark with a million dollar football contract he'll turn it down he just wanted to join in the football team for once in his life so he won't ever regret never joining the team everyone in his School will remember Clark as a somebody thats what Clark wants after he graduates.

horrible episode...just horrible...

I'll agree with Renee that Jason and Lana aren't too bad together but they do get way too much screen time.

*shudder* horrible *shudder* I can't say much else for it.

The bit at the end with Chloe was a good touch though, kudos to A Mack for great acting...

horrible...

Smallville Tigress... On the Prowl! *GROWL*
Well, I kinda knew from the preview last week that this ep was gonna suck and I was right. I mean it had a few good parts but overall, LAME! I swear with the football thing I thought I was watching Hothead again...

Another half nude shower scene, and it wasn't even with any main charatcters. Looking at next weeks trailer I was wondering if they are gonna change the name of the show to Sexville. Altho Showerville that someone metioned is a good one too. And on a side note, if they are tainting the water with Kryptonite, won't it make Clark sick if he drinks it??? I thought I saw him drink some or was I seeing things? (If you guys know from spoilers don't tell me. I'm still spoiler free!)

Jason and Lana? Yeah, they are okay together, but who cares? I sure don't. They bore me. I agree, they get waaaay too much screen time.

The Lana/Abby kiss wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but, still coulda done without it.

I did enjoy the dunk tank scene tho! Yay for Wet Clark! :p Altho, I was a lil annoyed to see the jealousy from Chloe. Didn't we have enough of that in season 2 between her and Lana??

Overall, I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Um, Dunk tank Clark I loved

The rest wasn't as bad as I expected after reading some of the reviews, but it wasn't great either. I like the new Lana/Jason thing, but there seemed more of that than there was Clark!

Excuse me *bangs head on desk* BUT isn't this show about Clark Kent? Are we not supposed to see him DO tihngs with his gifts, not be the sideplot ?

I liked the ending, Chloe/AM was great, altho I would have thought she would have given up on the BDA by now!

The FOTW was just lame. I KNOW amateurs can come up with better bad guys/bad gals than that, so what the heck are the WB team doing???!!!!!

Wet Clark was still too hot tho :thud:

Jonathan's Lady
Dawn, that's exactly what I never understood-- this idea that Lana and company need just as much attention as Clark. That's one of the many things "Memoria" got right. Lana, Chloe, and Pete were just plain not needed so they were not there. It doesn't take much to figure out. The other characters are there to serve Clark's story. The show is supposed to be about Clark.

This lady wrote an episode about Lana. Throw in some stuff about Clark just to have him there but it was *about* Lana far more than it ever had anything to do with Clark and I didn't sign on for Lanaville. I wasn't crazy about Truth but it got that part right--the main conflict was how Chloe might use her ability to "out" Clark. How did all this beauty sucking affect Clark at all? And anyone who says the football storyline was as centric as the beauty one must not have seen the show I did.

Lost is the show on ABC at the same time as Smallville. I have not seen it.
My complaint with Jason and Lana is too much screen time. I hate to admit it, but Lana and Lex have a lot of chemistry. It will be interesting to see if they will get paired this season.

Lex's "Lana deserves the best" line made me sick. I agree that Lex is the best, but for Lana...she so does not deserve to be with someone that interesting.

Yes. Lost is the show on ABC at the same time. Honestly, besides Lost and America's Next Top Model, Smallville really doesn't have much competition in that time slot. The WB has a gold mine timeslot and they are killing it by allowing Smallville to decend into the abyss that Charmed has fallen into.

The reviews for Lost have been good and those for Smallville haven't and so I'm worried about more people switching...I mean, I'm even considering it.

Someone needs to light a fire of urgency under Al & Miles :fuming::flamed: !! They are too comfortable, so comfortable that they think they can just throw us a stale bone to knaw on until next week and we'll be happy. :shakehead:

I don't wanna see Lanaville either. And the foorball thing, didn't we already do this storyline in Season 1??

Oh, I don't watch much TV other than SV so I didn't know about that other show.

It was better than I thought it was going to be. I liked the Clark and Lois scenes and I liked the Clark and Jonathan scene when they play football.
There should have been more Lex, less Lana and Jason, and the FOTW could have been better.

Hear, hear. That's what gets me -- "American Idol" killed their ratings last season, but they insist on thinking it was the "darkness" that did it, so now that they have no competition, they go and mess the show up! If the ratings fall again, what are they going to blame it on this time? The fans that stuck with the show got used to really serious, deep storylines, and now they yank them away (leaving a bunch of loose ends dangling, I might add) and feed us a bunch of silly, hormone-drenched FOTW episodes!

I'm sticking with the show unless it gets really, terribly, unrecognizably bad. I have a feeling (naive, maybe) that we'll eventually get past all the weirdness and actually get somewhere with the storyline. But I wonder how many will be willing to wait it out.

I'll ride it out as far as I can. My mom has given me the ok to continue with Smallville. But if they get ANY worse than they have been, my mom won't HAVE to tell me not to watch it anymore, I'll just stop.

I'm holding out for "Run" because that's the only one I've seen that looks worth anything. "Facade" was barely worth a hill of beans.

Well I doubt I'll ever switch off, but I do have to cringe at the writing lately! Why oh why let people loose with episodes when its obvious the fans intensely disliked there last two efforts???

i didn'#t like it very much to be honest the only bit i did like was the end scene where we get to see clark all wet :p i like lois and the way lois and clark looked at each other at the end. I just thought this episode had nothing special i like the freak of the week episodes but i thought this was just stupid. I really enjoyed the first two episodes though :)

gotta say again how hot clark looked in the water tank that smile is to die for ;)

A Mild mannered historian...
For those of you who don't know it, I'm a huge genre fan. I pretty much love all things science fiction. It was pretty much a natural progression for me to go from comic books to science fiction and I did so whole-heartedly.

Anyway, the reason I'm telling you all this is because the other day I caught an episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and it got me thinking about "Smallville".

Now, I'm sure you're all asking how an episode of DS9 got me thinking about Smallville when the shows basically have absolutely NOTHING in common. Well here's how: As DS9 went on to it's last three seasons, the show itself got more and more complex. The characters started to take on a life of their own. Suddenly, by the final season, there were at least 22 main characters and numerous sub-plots all tied to the main plot. But somehow, this show each week provided some of the best entertainment of any of the Star Trek television shows. Unlike those other shows with all their glitzy sfx and planet hopping, DS9 was more character-driven. I tuned in each week not to see what cool special effect would happen this week, I turned in to visit with some people that I'd grown to really care about. But, I digress. One of the things that DS9 did to create this all-too-believable world was to shift focus from week to week. You were aware of the other characters and what they were up to; but the focus for each week was on only one or two particular ones. This allowed the viewer to not only get to know them better, but, as a result, you cared about them more.

I'm seeing Smallville sort of where DS9 was at the beginning of it's fourth season. They had all these characters that they were trying to give equal time to and the result was a jumbled mess where you didn't really get a feeling for what was going on overall. They either kept jumping back and forth between five or six sub-plots and not giving any time to the main plot or they came up with some reason to have almost all the characters together in one place to avoid jumping around. It nearly killed the show. If the writers hadn't gone in this direction to concentrate on a single sub-plot per episode, I think it probably would have failed soon after it's fourth season. I see "Smallville" trying to juggle too many sub-plots at once and not giving the time necessary to really tell the story they're there to tell. I think the writers need to step back and look the show overall and decide where they're going with each character and each sub-plot. Then, if that sub-plot needs to be eliminated, do so in a single episode focusing on that character or characters. I think, in the end, this would allow the writers to actually focus on the stories at hand and not give us slop like we have had this season so far.

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as too critical but it's only because I care about these characters and this show and I would hate to see it cancelled before they're able to tell the story they're there to tell.

Argh! Wayne I never knew you were into Star Trek too! Now you've really set me off! I was talking to someone about the very same thing the other day! I was, and always will be a huge DS9 fan, and I saw exactly the same problem in Smallville as you- too much going on, and not enough time to tell it.

I thought when they started with episodes like Shattered and Memoria that they were seeing the light and giving characters episodes of their own. After all they were very Lexcentric, but no. This season is so rushed that I feel like I've just sat down and the episode is over without really telling me anything.

I WANT to see the Kents discuss what happened. Are they worried JE will try something again? How did they explain where Clark was all summer, and how he returned? I want all those scenes between the characters we simply can't get by trying to cram them ALL into each and every episode.

The question is, will the producers get the message in time that something is going very wrong?
