Jonathan's Lady

If you could have the character for one episode as the writer, what would you have Jonathan say and do that you've always wished he would? :) |

I really would like to see him punish Clark for doing something stupid that got him into trouble. We haven't really seen Jonathan be a disciplinarian . . . I'd like to see how they kept Clark in line - especially at an early age. :) |

Jonathan's Lady

I know exactly what you're saying. We often see him be the heavy, the one to say no, but we don't see how he backs it up. But we definitely know he must be known to be strict. Pete's reaction to Clark joining the team said a lot. "Remind me again about what your dad said?" "He said no." "Call me when the hurtin' is over." I'd love to see how he dealt with Clark at, say, eight years old. We should definitely have an episode like that! Forget these "1961" episodes. I'm pumped to see Clark being handled pre-puberty ;) |

Don't mess with JS
|
Well, I always said we were a bloodthirsty lot around here -- guess it's even truer than I realized! It's true, though -- Jonathan's always made out to be so strict, but then after a scene like that one between Clark and Pete, J. goes and says something sweet like "I'm happy when you wake up in the morning." Or grounds Clark but then agrees to postpone it. Yeah, real scary guy there! I've never really given much thought to what I'd have Jonathan do and say. I spend more time thinking about what I'd have other people say to him (which must be why I keep writing stories about that kind of thing). But I guess if I had the chance, I'd write some of his missing scenes that I've always wanted to see: namely, waking up after his fight with Clark in "Phoenix," waking up for the first time after his heart attack, and his reunion scene with his family in "Crusade." I'd also write more romantic scenes for him with Martha. That's one thing I have to say for this otherwise subpar season -- we've had a little more romance between those two. But there's plenty of room for more. I also think it would be interesting to write a flashback to the time when they found out they couldn't have children, and show how they both handled it. Oh, and two other things that I'd have him do if I had the chance: 1) Ride his motorcycle (preferably with his favorite redhead on the back) 2) Sing! |
