Thoughts on "Unsafe" (SPOILERS)

Okay, guys, I'm bored and wanted to talk about something, so here's what I came up with. (Well, not really bored -- I have a million things to do, I just don't feel like doing them. :D )

This is for those who know what "Unsafe's" going to be about --

What do you think Jonathan's role will be in all this? (Assuming he actually has one. ) We know Clark's on red K again, though it's not his fault. And we know it turns him nasty, and that poor Jonathan has often borne the brunt of his nastiness. Do you suppose he'll find out that Clark's on red K while it's going on? (We know he at least knows afterwards, thanks to "Pariah" spoilers.) And do you think he might have to try to deal with it again, and possibly even get hurt again?

And if this marriage thing turns out to be real and not a dream or fantasy, do you suppose Clark will tell his parents or try to hide it?

To my mind, bringing bad Clark back is such a slap in the face to Jonathan, and to Martha as well, after all they've already endured because of him. But I guess anything's all right as long as it rakes in the ratings, or even just looks like it might. :wall:

What p****s me off is the fact that after everything that happens, Clark is still defending Alicia to his father.

Clark: But, Dad, she's misunderstood.

Jonathan: She uses red kryptonite on my son to get him to marry her - and you're telling me she's misunderstood?! What the hell is the matter with you, Clark?!

I hope if that's the case, then Jon really nails Clark's ungratful little butt to the wall and sets him straight.

Are those lines from the actual script? Or lines you're hoping to hear? (I'd like to see it myself, but I'm afraid Jonathan hasn't been doing much butt-nailing lately. :( )

It's what I'd like to see - I wish those were actual lines from the show.

I can kind of see how Clark could feel bad for Alica she sees Clark as her "boyfriend". And Clark is partly to blame for how she acted in Obsession. She over heard him say that he felt he could have a real relationship with her. And then when she starts to show affection to Clark. He starts to pull away when it was his idea to date her.

He knows Alica's background she grew up with this teleport power as a kid.She didn't have any friends because she was afraid they would think she was a freak. Clark feels responsible for anyone affected by the meteor shower. Because if he had not come down that day everyone would be normal.

And like any girl Alica wants to find that special someone, who she thinks is Clark. And the only reason why she attacked lana was because she was jealous. And felt Clark was still trying to hold onto lana so by getting lana out of the way she though. That Clark would see she would see that she (Alica) was the right girl for him.

Though i'm curious how she finds out about Red Kryptonite ,and manages to use it on him.

So, you're saying it's okay for her to try to kill her father, and Clark and Lana - and then basically drugging Clark to marry her and sleep with him?

If she loved Clark at all she wouldn't be drugging him. I don't like Lana, but I don't like Alicia either. She tried to sleeep with him in "Obsession," she put her father in the hospital because he warned Clark about her, she used Kryptonite on Clark when he tried to put her in the lead-lined room, and she tried to kill Lana. like I said I don't like Lana, but even Lana doesn't deserve that much abuse from the evil Barbie doll. But now she's going to hurt Jonathan and Martha. Putting red K on the kid? That sounds mean. At least you can't blame Clark for getting in contact with it.

No i'm not saying Alicia is little miss innocent just that i'm curious, how she finds out about Clark. And I don't want her to hurt Clark's family and friends because of it.But you have to admit it's a bit of Clark's fault too. He lead her to believe they had a relationship.

First he goes "I think I can have a relationship with her" and then changes his mind saying he doesn't want to be with Alicia. If he had been honest to Alicia from the start she wouldn't have gone bad.

Well, he didn't know at the time she was psychotic - a little agressive, but not dangerous. He was right to pull back when he found out about what she did to her father - he was not misleading her.

Oh right I forgot about that hurting her father happened before Clark pulled away from her.

I also think it's a slap in the face to Jonathan and Martha in another way -- they've set an example of what a strong, loving marriage looks like for going on four seasons now, and now G&M are supposedly going to show their son getting married in this degrading, ratings-grabbing way. It really seems like "anything goes" this season, and everything they used to say they were in favor of -- a strong father figure, parents who give their son wise guidance, etc. -- has been tossed to the side in favor of gimmicks.

That is so true Renee…it's like the values they have taught their son means nothing…they are just pushing the parents right out of the picture.

They made it out that Red K is like a drug for Clark & I think Clark is strong enough “now” to fight its influences on him…or it shouldn’t have that much prevalence over him any more…at this point he should be able to resist its effects.
He has been able to control all his positive abilities; he should have already "learned from experience" how to control this weakness even when someone else is holding the Red-K.

It's all a ratings ploy & I think it really diminishes the Supes mythos…

I see the "marriage" thing in two different directions on the show. For starters it can seem like a slap in the face to Jonathan and Martha Kent. But you have to realize that no marriage is perfect no matter how it's shown on tv.

off the small screen arugement/fights tend to happen or real problems are faced during the first year of marriage. I also believe that marriage shouldn't happen unless you really love the other person. But you have to remember Clark isn't completely the perfect superhero. Just like when he becomes Superman he will makes some bad choices, because he thinks it will help the greater good.

I see the marriage issue on "Unsafe" as a classic look at the whole "teenage marriage" problem. How do people deal with it and does it last in the end it was done on One Tree Hill. And it looks like it doesn't last for Nathan and Haley on the show since the last episode.

But this marriage has some very unique (and uniquely repulsive) characteristics to it -- it's a Vegas wedding to a girl Clark barely knows, a girl who has attacked and hurt people. To show someone like Clark Kent, with the values he's been taught, doing something like this, even while he's under the influence of a mind-altering substance -- that just strikes me as a cheap stunt.

I actually can't wait for this episode- to get the darn thing out of the way! It's bugging me just thinking about it, so I say lets get it over with before I have a lil temper tantrum

I so don't want to see my Clarkie doing this, and I so think the Kents would go nuts, which there has been no mention of...unless of course it's still not real, in which case they wouldn't go so nuts... :scratchhead:

Clarkie? Okay, now that's really a weird nickname for him, but I do have to believe that he really is going to go BDA on us.

If it really happens (I persist in hoping it's all a dream), do you think he'll tell his parents or keep it secret? I'm not sure what I want him to do -- that would be a horrible thing to hear from your kid, and they've already been through so much. But on the other hand, all this "keep it a secret so that no one will get hurt" that all of them are always doing usually ends up hurting everybody worse in the end!
