Don't mess with JS

I'm told that Tom Welling said this in a recent "Smallville" magazine interview: "SM: When he's back as himself at the end of Crusade, do you think things have resolved themselves? "Tom: Mom and Dad ask him if he remembers right off the bat, and he says that he doesn't, but what we find out later is that he remembers exactly what happened, and in season four you'll find that what happens greatly affects something later down the line. He does remember and he does try to learn from his experience, but he does also try to save everybody else the pain of letting them know what happened when he turned that way." Looking at this from the point of view of the Kent parents, as I usually do, that's a bad, BAD idea. Doesn't Clark realize yet what happens when Kent family members keep secrets from each other? Shouldn't that outweigh the possibility of causing some pain in the short term? MORE character regression for Clark. Plus, if this is the case, they really should have had Tom act more like he was keeping a secret. It's the Martha's secret pregnancy storyline all over again. It seems to me that they're just trying to shove Jonathan and Martha -- perhaps especially Jonathan -- further and further in the background. Here he's supposedly going through this trauma and they don't even get a clue till, what, season's end? Aren't they supposed to know him rather well? |

I'm not surprised Clark is after all a BDA and in the magazine there's a rumor. That there's a possible Lex and Lana romance in the future. Like I said the writers are obsessed with "nobody" (thats how I will refer her in the future). I wish nobody would walk off a cliff, and fall onto a bunch of sharp rocks. |

Jonathan's Lady

Well, it may not be trauma. It may just be something he feels they're better off not knowing. Maybe he remembers what it was like to be devoid of compassion and what it was like to be without love for them--possibly being taught to see them as no more than tools to be used as JE saw them. Jonathan had just gotten out of the hospital and all so I can see his not seeing the benefit it sharing such things with them...He would perhaps see it as a failing on his part. He could be ashamed for not being able to fight it and be the son he was raised to be. |

Hmm -- good theory. If that were the reasoning behind it, that could work rather well. (Plus we could get a lovely big emotional family scene out of it, if he finally ended up confessing memories and feelings like that to his parents. :P: ) I still wish they'd let Tom act like he has something on his mind, though, besides just his reactions to the week-by-week circumstances on the show. Clark seems awfully "business as usual" to me this season. |

Maybe Jonathan does indeed know that Clark is keeping something from that time from them, only he's afraid to hear it come from his son;s mouth and therefore doesn't press the issue. That wouldn't be normal for Jonathan...but then again NOTHING has been normal this season anyway. |
