Can't Stay Away
This was an idea I had. I had read one crossover from Steffi where Jonathan and Bo are brothers. Here's another one that's entirely different.
Summary: Twin brothers Bo and Jonathan Duke have a fight that causes twenty years of silence.
********************************************************************
"Jonathan, how could you leave? Do ya have any idea how this'll hurt Uncle Jesse?" Bo Duke said, looking angrily at his brother.

While Bo and Jonathan Duke were twin brothers people could usually tell both of them apart. Jonathan was quiet and stubborn while Bo was hot-tempered and stubborn. Jonathan also didn't get into as much trouble as his brother and cousin, Luke.

"I have to go, Bo. You don't need me here," Jonathan said, his face showing his frustration at his younger brother. Bo was two minutes younger than him, but sometimes it felt like two years.

"I'll tell ya one thing, Jonathan Duke. If ya leave don't ever call me," Bo warned.

"If you feel that way, brother, I won't," Jonathan said calmly, though his stomach felt as if Bo had twisted a knife in his stomach.

Jonathan walked inside the small farmhouse, forbidding the tears that felt like falling. Uncle Jesse, Cooter Davenport, and Luke were sitting there drinking coffee.

"So, did ya tell him, Son?" Uncle Jesse said, placing his old wrinkled hands on Jonathan's broad shoulders.

"Yes. He's told me never to call him if I leave. Uncle Jesse, I don't know what to do if Bo hates me," Jonathan said, his voice revealing his despair.

"Bo will get over it, Son. He knew that you would leave when the time came. That the two of you would have to live your own lives," Jesse said, that voice of reassurance that Jonathan had come to love all his life.

"I'm gonna miss ya, Uncle Jesse," Jonathan said, wrapping his arms around his uncle.

"Let us know where you are, Jonathan," Luke said, clapping his young cousin on the back of the neck.

"I sure will, Cousin. When I'm settled you'll be the first to know," Jonathan said.

Jonathan spent the rest of the day packing his belongings. At dinner Daisy cooked all his favorite foods, while Bo just glared at him and didn't say a word.

The next morning Jonathan put all his belongings into the car he had bought. Luke, Daisy, and Uncle Jesse were all out there to say good-bye. The only one not there was Bo. Bo had refused to say good-bye to his brother, even though Jonathan had looked pained when Jesse told him.

Daisy hugged her cousin good-bye, looking into his deep blue eyes. "Bye, Jonathan. You be sure to tell us where you are," Daisy said, kissing her cousin's cheek.

"I'm going to miss all of you. I'll call you from my hotel tonight," Jonathan said, hugging Uncle Jesse while he said that last statement.

To the chorus of good-byes Jonathan got into the car and drove off abd tried not to look back at his family. On a hill overlooking the Duke farm Bo sat in "The General Lee." He watched his brother leave, knowing that he might never see him again. Jonathan was going away and it was highly unlikely that he would come back.

Jonathan sat down watching NASCAR on TV. His small son, Clark, sat down on the floor playing with a tiny dumptruck. Sunday was NASCAR day. And this was the first weekend Clark had been with him and Martha.

Of course Martha thought NASCAR was just a hobby that Jonathan loved, but it was also a day he could watch his brother do the things he loved. Since he had left Bo had been true to his word and had not called him. Of course Jonathan knew what his brother did without having to call Uncle Jesse.

clark made motor noices with the truck, causing the farmer to look at his son with a smile on his face. He wondered what his Duke relatives would say about this newer member of the family.

Daisy and Luke had come to his wedding a few years back and had seemed happy for their cousin. A new member of the family would probably mend the strife between him and his brother. Jonathan felt homesick for Hazzard, even though he would never had admitted that out loud.

Then he made up his mind. "Martha!" Jonathan called to his wife.

Martha entered the living room wiping her hands on a dishtowel. "What's wrong, Jonathan?" Martha asked, her concern evident in her blue eyes.

"Why don't we invite Bo and Uncle Jesse down here?" Jonathan said

"Really? Jonathan you know how Bo feels about you. He didn't even come to our wedding," Martha said, cupping her husband's face in her hands.

"I know, but Bo's my brother. I haven't seen him or Uncle Jesse since I left Hazzard and I want our son to know about them," Jobnathan said, wacthing Clark toddle over to them. Jonathan picked Clark up and ruffled his dark hair affectionately.

"All right, Jonathn. Call them if you wish," Martha said.
********************************************************************
The phone rang in the Duke family kitchen. "I'll get it, Uncle Jesse," Bo Duke said, answering the phone. "Hello?" Bo asked.

"Hello, Bo?" A voice asked, timidly.

"Who is this?" Bo asked.

"It's me, Brother. It's Jonathan," Jonathan's voice said, coming over the phone softly.

Bo's head pounded at the sound of his twin's voice. I hadn't heard this voice in a long time and instantly he didn't know what to say. Bo had been thinking of Jonathan a lot. Wondering if he had been silly to ignore his brother for so long. Well, it was time to find out if he had been.

Bo, Luke, Daisy, and Uncle Jesse all agreed to head out for Smallville the next day. Everyone could tell Bo was nervous about seeing his brother after all these years. It showed with how he drove "The General." He gripped the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles were turning white.

"You all right, cousin?" Luke asked from the passenger seat.

"I must be crazy doing this. Jonathan and I haven't spoken in six years," Bo said confidentially to his cousin. Luke, Bo, and Jonathan had all grown up together so it seemed as if all of them were brothers instead of two being brothers and one their cousin.

"Bo, Jonathan loves you. He wouldn't have asked you to come out and see him if he didn't want to see you," Luke pointed out.

"Yeah, but I told him I never wanted to see him again. What if he hasn't forgiven me for that?" Bo stated nervously.

"Bo, he was more hurt than angry when you said that. He knows you didn't mean that," Luke said, roling his eyes in exasperation. Bo was working himself into a fine state. If Luke knew Jonathan as well as he thought he did Jonathan would be more happy than angry over seeing his twin brother.

"What's his wife, Martha, like? Is she just like him?" Bo asked, changing the subject.

"Bo, Martha is just perfect for Jon. She's sweet and kind. Daisy and me both liked her when we met her two years ago," Luke said, relieved that Bo had changed the subject.

"Did he meet her in college?" Bo asked.

"Yeah. She's the daughter of a lawyer in Metropolis and they both met each other whe Jon was taking an accounting class at Met U," Luke said, silence following these words.

"What exit do I take now, Luke?" Bo asked a few minutes later.

"That one. Just be careful. Jonathan told me they had a meteor strike recently so some of the road is torn up," Luke warned his cousin.

Bo turned on the exit, but not before they heard sirens. Bo looked in his rearview mirror. "Oh great. We leave Hazzard to find another sheriff," Bo moaned, pulling over.

Sheriff Ethan, Smallville's sheriff stepped up to the dodge charger. "What are you strangers doing in Smallville?" Was the first question out of the sheriff's mouth.

"We're visiting my brother who lives around her, Sheriff," Bo answered honestly.

"Oh? Who's your brother?" Sheriff Ethan asked conversationally.

"Jonathan Kent, Sheriff," Luke jumped in before Bo could answer.

Bo looked at his cousin surprised. Kent was the maiden name of Jonathan and Bo's mother. Why would Jonathan pick that name instead of the name Duke?

"Yeah. I know Jonathan Kent. Nice person. Was he expecting you?" Sheriff Ethan asked

'Yes Sir," Bo answered, still feeling shell-shocked.

"Welcome to Smallville. Tell Jonathan I said hello," Sheriff Ethan said, walking back to his car.

Bo started the car, feeling angry at his twin again. "Jonathan Kent?" Bo asked, turning to look at Luke.

"He felt as if you hated him. He thought it would be better if he changed his name. You know how much the both of you loved your mother," Luke said, patting Bo's shoulder.

Bo took a few deep breaths as he tried to control the anger he felt inside. When he was around his brither he'd call him Jonathan Duke. In his opinion his brother had no right to change his name.

Jonathan paced nervously in front of the house, Martha holding Clark in his arms. "Jonathan, relax," Martha said, wondering if Jonathan would even hear her say that.

Jonathan stopped and looked at his wife and son. "I can't relax, Martha. What if Bo is still angry with me. I haven't seen my brother in six years," Jonathan said, his fear reflected in his dark-blue eyes.

Martha smiled a warm smile at her handsome husband. "Jonathan, if Bo was angry at you he wouldn't be coming to see you. Also he would want to see his new nephew," Martha said, indicating Clark, who smiled sunnily at his father.

Jonathan grinned back at Clark and tousled his son's raven-black hair. Even though his son couldn't talk much Jonathan loved him. Clark had really expressive eyes and they conveyed the love he had for his new parents.

Jonathan turned his attention away from his son and "The General Lee" and his Uncle Jesse's white pickup turned into the driveway. Jonathan swallowed deeply as Luke and Bo exited the stockcar through the windows. Here goes, Jonathan thought, walking over to his brother's car.

"Jonathan!" Bo exclaimed, running like a shot into his brother's arms. Jonathan felt surprised. He didn't expect his brother to greet him like they had never quarreled.

"Hey, Bo," Jonathan said, looking into his brother's eyes. Bo still looked the same as the last time Jonathan had seen him. He had on his favorite yellow shirt and jeans. His blond hair was still kind of long. In Jonathan's opinion Bo still looked like a big kid.

Bo was looking at his twin brother the exact same way. Jonathan had changed in six years as well. His hair wasn't as long as his any more and he was wearing a blue plaid shirt over a t-shirt and jeans.

"It's great to see you, Brother," Jonathan said, his voice coming out choked.

"It's great to see you too, Jon," Bo said, using an old nickname that all the Duke cousins called Jonathan.

"Hey, Martha!" Daisy's happy voice stopped the two brother's conversation. Jonathan, Bo, Luke, and Uncle Jesse turned to look at the redhead holding a dark-haired boy. The boy buried his face in Martha's neck at the sight of all the strangers.

"Is that my nephew?" Bo asked Jonathan nervously. He thought at first that it might be a kid his brother and sister-in-law was watching for the neighbors.

"Yes. This is Clark," Martha said, proudly introducing her son.

Clark looked up at the man who was before him. In his small mind he looked like his dadddy, except his hair was longer than his daddy's.

"Hey there, Clark! I'm your Uncle Bo," Bo said, taking the little boy in his arms. The boy looked slightly frightened. He didn't look as if he liked being held by someone who looked like his father, but wasn't.

"Bo, Clark can't talk yet. We adopted him a few weeks ago after the meteor shower and he hasn't said a word," Jonathan said, noticing the hurt look on his brother's face.

"Don't worry, Jonathan. This boy will be talkin' in no time," Uncle Jesse said, smiling at Clark like a proud grandfather. Clark, in spite of his nervousness over meeting strangers, appeared to like Uncle Jesse. He smiled back, his smile like that of a small angel's.

"Well, we know one thing; he likes Uncle Jesse," Luke said, causing everyone to laugh.

"Clark likes everyone if he gets to know you," Martha said, after the laughter subsided.

"Are all of y'all hungry?" Jonathan asked, changing the subject.

"Famished. We ate nothin' but beef jerky between Hazzard and here," Bo said, handing Clark back to Martha.

"I cooked one of Jonathan's favorites. He said that all of you liked it too and it should be ready to put on the table," Martha said, heading for the house.

"I'll help you put it on the table, Martha," Daisy said, following Martha into the house leaving the four men alone.

Can't Stay Away
Jonathan, Bo, Jessie and Luke sat on the porch after dinner, talking about old times. "So, Jon, how come you changed your name?" Bo asked, after a few minutes of cordial conversation.

The question took Jonathan slightly aback. At the time it made sense to change his name from Duke" to "Kent."

"You were mad at me, Bo. I thought I did the right thing," Jonathan said, his voice low.

"Oh, come on, Jonathan. What do you take me for? A complete idiot?" Bo snapped, his anger towards his brother in his voice.

"Ya know this is one reason I shouldn't have invited you down here. I can't talk to you when your like this!" Jonathan snapped back.

Both brothers stood, looking ready to belt each other. "Now take it easy, boys. I raised the both of ya better than this," Uncle Jessie said, placing a jamd on Jonathan and Bo's shoulders.

"Your right, Uncle Jessie. I apologize," Jonathan said respectfully.

"I want the both of ya to shake hands," Jessie said sternly.

"I ain't gonna shake his hand, Uncle Jessie!" Bo said angrily.

Jessie was saved from answering when Daisy, Martha, and Clark came out onto the porch.

"Look who wants to say good night to Daddy," Martha said, placing Clark in Jonathan's arms.

Clark's blue eyes looked sleepily at his father. Jonathan smiled as he ruffled Clark's hair and hugged him tight. "I'll see you in the morning, Son," Jonathan said, before handing him back to Martha.

Martha went into the house. Jessie placed his hand on Jonathan's shoulder. "You love that boy, don't ya, Jon?" Jessie asked.

"Yep. Considering the fact that Martha and myself can never have children," Jonathan said, turning to look at his uncle.

The men and Daisy were quiet. they had never thought about Jonathan and Martha not being able to have children. That thought just didn't cross their minds. And, by the look on Bo's face, he looked a little guilty, for the way he had talked to his brother.

Can't Stay Away
Bo was trying to fix "The General's" carburator when Jonathan came outside, Clark in his arms.

"Hey, Bo! Do you want to watch Clark for me while I run to get some feed for the cows?" Jonathan asked his brother, holding Clark out to him.

"Can't Martha do it?" Bo asked, lowering "The General's" hood.

"She would, but she's gone to the store. She says taking Clark with her would be a bad idea since he likes cookies and would grab them," Jonathan explained.

Bo grinned in spite of himself. "Sounds like what you and I used to do when Mama tried to take us to the store," Bo said.

Jonathan's famous half-grin spread on his face. "So will you do it?" Jonathan asked, still holding out Clark to him.

"Sure, Brother," Bo said, taking the three-year-old in his arms. Clark's lip trembled slightly and he tried to reach for his father.

"You be good for Uncle Bo, Clark. I'll see you in an hour. Thanks, Bo," Jonathan said, ruffling Clark's raven-black hair and walking over to his pickup.

"You're welcome, Jon," Bo mumbled under his breath as his brother sped off.

Bo looked down at his nephew. He still didn't appear to like strangers that much. Clark looked frightened. "It's all right, Clark. I know I look like your daddy, but I'm your uncle," Bo said, sitting down on the hood of "The General." He sat Clark on his knee and gently rubbed his back.

Bo wasn't sure how to babysit for a boy. He liked kids, but he had never been around any kids this age. Especially a kid that couldn't talk to him. Then he thought of a good idea. He'd take Clark for a ride in "The General!"

He put Clark in the passenger seat and buckled him up. Then Bo entered through the window and turned on the ignition. He then put his foot on the gas and sped off. In a matter of minutes Clark was squealing with glee as Bo made a few sharp u-turns.

Bo was having as much fun as Clark that he failed to notice Jonathan's pickup returning. The next thing he heard was, "Bo, pull over!"

Bo looked over into the angry eyes of his twin. He gulped and killed the ignition. Clark was laughing. Jonathan stalked over to "The General," his face angry.

"BEAUREGARD JAMES DUKE, DON'T YOU EVER STOP TO THINK? YOU COULD HAVE KILLED MY SON WITH YOUR RECKLESS DRIVING!!!!" Jonathan roared in a tone of voice Bo had never heard.

Bo flinced at his brother's anger. "Jonathan, I'm sorry. Clark was frightened when you left. I thought he would enjoy a ride," Bo said, knowing that his excuse sounded feeble and lame to his brother.

"Bo, I know how you drive. Clark's so little. I don't want him hurt if you drive like a NASCAR driver out here," Jonathan said, trying hard not to get angry.

"Jonathan, he actually liked it. He was laughing," Bo pointed out, as Jonathan took Clark out of "The General."

Jonathan looked at Bo and then his son. Clark was smiling happily and his face was flushed with excitement. Jonathan hugged his son tight. "When you're around my son, drive slower," Jonathan said, walking back to the pickup.

Jonathan's words didn't leave Bo a chance to argue. Not that Bo would want to argue. Jonathan was right. Like always.

Can't Stay Away
Five years later...

Clark Kent and his best friend, Pete Ross got off of the bus as it stopped in front of the Kent farm. Clark was excited. His Uncle Bo, Uncle Luke, Uncle Jessie, and Aunt Daisy were coming for a visit. Clark always liked it when he visited them, but this was the first time in five years that they had come to Smallville to visit.

"Clark, man, slow down!" Pete gasped from behind him, wiping the sweat off his dark face.

Clark slwoed down and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, Pete. I guess I'm just excited. Uncle Bo and Uncle Luke's a lot of fun. I bet theyll take us in "The General Lee for a drive," Clark said.

"What you tell me about them I can see why you like them," Pete said, switching his backpack to his left shoulder.

Before Clark could answer he saw the cars. Uncle Jessie's white pickup, Aunt Daisy's jeep with the Dixie logo and, best of all, Uncle Luke and Uncle Bo's stockcar, "The General Lee."

"Yes!" Clark shouted, rushing towards the house. Even though Clark was excited he had to think of Pete and not use his superspeed. Even though they all knew about their nephews abilities Pete did not.

Clark opened the door, forgetting to shut it. "UNCLE BO!!!!" Clark shouted, racing like a shot into his uncle's strong arms

"How ya doin,' Clark?" Bo Duke asked, looking his excited nephew in the eyes.

"Fine. Hi, Uncle Luke. Hi, Aunt Daisy. Hi Uncle Jessie!" Clark shouted the last name as he went to give his great-uncle a hug.

"You've grown, Clark," Jessie said, tousling Clark's dark hair.

Clark heard Pete cough slightly behind him. "Sorry, Pete. Pete, this is my great-uncle Jessie," Clark introduced Pete, trying not to laugh.

"Great-Uncle Jessie? What's with this great uncle stuff, you young whippersnapper? I ain't that great!" Uncle Jessie protested, trying to sound stren.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Uncle Jessie," Pete said, ducking his head shyly.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Pete," Uncle Jessie said.

Clark spent the next few minutes introducing everyone else. "This is my Aunt Daisy. Ain't she pretty, Pete?" Clark said. Everyone in the room tried not to laugh at that statement.

"Hi," Pete said shyly, shaking Daisy's hand.

"Nice to meet ya, Honey," Daisy said, in her warm way. The way it looked to Clark it looked as if Pete blushed. The only one who ever called him honey was his mother. Pete was so flustered he realized that he was still shaking Daisy's hand. He dropped it as if it were a hot potato.

"Hey, guys, what about us? I know Aunt Daisy's pretty, but you haven't said hi to your poor old uncles," Luke asked, his voice full of amusement. Clark rushed over to Luke and hugged him.

"Pete, this is my Uncle Luke," Clark introduced.

"So you're the one who drives "The General Lee?" I thought the General Lee was a person in history," Pete asked, his infatuation over Daisy obviously passed.

"Nope. That would be Mr. Daytona over there," Luke said, turning to Uncle Bo, trying not to laugh at Pete's innocent question.

"Hi, Pete," Bo said in his friendly manner.

"You're right, man. He does look like your dad," Pete said, handing Clark a five dollar bill.

"Yeah. Except his hair is longer than my dad's." Clark said, putting the money in his pocket.

"So, who's General Lee?" Pete asked, looking confused.

"It's a car, Pete. And no your uncles can't take you for a ride in it, Clark," Jonathan said, his voice stern.

"Please, Dad? Please, Uncle Bo?" Clark begged, a puppy-dog look in his eyes.

"Remember the last time you got in the car with these two? The car was rarely on the ground!" Jonathan said, a look of shock on his face.

"Clark, I thought you were afraid of heights?" Pete asked, causing Clark to elbow him in the ribs.

"Dad, there are no hills or lakes in Smallville, except Crater Lake. Please, Dad? Can't we take Pete home?" Clark begged.

Jonathan and Martha looked at each other. "All right. I just know I'm going to regret this. Bo, could you and luke take the boys to Pete's house?" Jonathan asked, grudgingly.

"Sure, Jon," Luke said, standing up.

"And, Bo. Drive carefully on this road," Jonathan reminded him as his brother walked out the door.

"Yes, big brother," Bo said, rolling his eyes as he walked out the door.

"I hope i'm not making a mistake," Jonathan said to no one in particular.

"Don't worry so much, Jonathan. I'm sure the boys will drive carefully," Martha said, kissing her husband's cheek. Jonathan hoped Martha was right. Clark wouldn't get hurt if they crashed, but Pete was another matter entirely.
