Smallville Nut
|
A little bald, nerdy guy in protective custody arrives at the Metropolis Courthouse surrounded by armed guards. A multitude of reporters crowd around and try to ask questions as he's ushered into the courthouse. A younger, ominous looking guy (Graham Garrett) watches from a distance. Chloe and Clark are headed to the courthouse to watch the trial. Chloe is hoping it will re-ignite Clark’s journalistic spark. He scoffs and says his reporter days are over. Graham walks out into traffic almost gets hit by delivery truck and Clark saves him. Meanwhile we see the star witness getting settled in a secure room as he waits to testify. Graham, the guy Clark just saved materializes and kills the witness. Graham “fades” into invisibility and watches from the crowd gathering in the hall. *roll opening credits* Martha and Clark walk into the farmhouse to find Lois playing a video game on huge plasma screen TV with stereo sound. Clark asks where it came from and Lois tells him it was being delivered when she arrived. Clark assumes it’s from Lionel. Martha tells him not to jump to conclusions. Clark superspeeds back to Metropolis to see if Chloe can help him track down who sent the expensive electronics. Chloe discovers it was paid for in cash so no name to trace. She suggests that Lex might have sent it. Lois is talking on her headset phone to a senator while doing sit-ups at the farmhouse. Graham materializes over her. She jumps up and warns him she’s a black belt. He introduces himself as Graham and looks around to see where the TV set he sent ended up. She tells him Clark returned it. Lana is anxiously awaiting Lex’s return from Washington DC. He enters the mansion and tells her no one he spoke to knows or could verify Dr. Milton Fine’s existence. He tells her he got a little homesick. Lana asks, “What’s so special about Smallville?” Lex replies, “Oh I don’t know…cows, cornfields, wide-open spaces.” Lana smiles and says, “I missed you too.” “You have no idea,” Lex responds as they embrace and lock lips. Clark slips in sees them, turns around and leaves without making his presence known. Clark beelines it back to Chloe and gets huffy because she didn’t tell him about Lex and Lana. She tells him Lana is free to date whoever she chooses even if it’s a bad choice. Chloe has found out that the star witness was killed in a sealed room with only one way in or out that two guards stationed by it. Mopey boy goes back to sulk in the loft. He stares at Lana’s picture before tossing it to the floor. Graham picks it up and asks, “Let me guess…bad break up?” He tells Clark he sent the TV and asks what else he could give him instead. Clark tells him a simple thanks is fine. Graham insists that he at least take Clark to dinner in Metropolis and Clark agrees. Clark shows up at Graham’s hotel suite that has a very full party going on. Graham introduces Lois as his date. She tells Clark to buzz off because she likes this guy. Graham tells Clark to go check out the balcony. Clark tells him he doesn’t like heights. Graham chuckles and says you’ll like the view. Clark goes. There’s a girl, Gia, waiting for him. Clark says thanks but no and leaves her on the balcony. He runs into Graham as he leaves the party. They talk for a moment and Clark tells him about Lex and Lana. Graham tells him it’s not too late to get her back. (And I, for one, wanted to hurl at the unending Clana. For God's sake writers let it DIE!) Lex is walking down the hall in the mansion talking to Dr. Fine about splicing the genetic virus. He notices the tapestry hanging on the wall moving slightly but doesn’t see anyone. Graham appears and starts choking Lex. Lana walks in and screams for security. Graham vanishes before the security guys rushed in. (Yeah, his security does seem better now...they actually showed up when Lana called for them. ) Lana sits by Lex in the hospital. Clark looks in on them from the hall. Lana comes out to talk with him. She tells him that she walked in on the attack and the guy seemed to vanish into thin air. She described someone that looks like Graham… Lois is dumping a truckload of sugar into a cup of coffee at the Talon when Graham shows up and invites her to a Coldplay concert tonight in Chicago. She teases that she should become a corporate hitman like him if it comes with those kinds of perks. Clark returns to Graham’s hotel suite to confront him about attacking Lex. Graham hits Clark with a lamp and discovers he’s not the only one with a secret. Clark goes to see Chloe at the Daily Planet to fill her in on what happened with Graham. She tells Clark it’s probably not the first time Graham has tried to kill. She connects the dots with the witness murder in the “secure” room and speculates that Graham might be number 8 on the FBI’s most wanted list known as The Chameleon. The killer is known for his ability to get in and out of secure rooms with no prints, pictures, or clues left behind. Clark expresses his guilt for saving him and Chloe reminds him it’s not his place to decide if someone worthy of being saved. Anyone one in trouble, no matter how despicable is worthy of being saved. Clark and Chloe briefly discuss his powers and weakness and of course invisible boy is eavesdropping to hear Clark say meteor rocks. ( :shakehead: I guess stupid is a superpower.) Chloe calls Lois to warn her about Graham but doesn’t get an answer. We get a steamy shower scene with Lois in her Talon apartment. She gets that creepy feeling like she’s being watched, gets out, grabs a scrubby brush as a weapon and flings the bathroom door open to find Clark standing on the other side stunned by her nakedness. She jumps back in and slams the door. She comes back out in towel demanding to know why he’s there. She tells him she felt like someone was watching her. Clark detects a heartbeat with superhearing—why he didn’t use x-ray vision instead is a mystery to me—he chases Graham out into the alley behind the Talon just to get smacked in the face with a Kryptonite rock. Lex wakes up in the hospital room and tells Lana he has too much to live for (and I grabbed for the barf bag.) Lex asked her if she told Clark that they were a couple now. Chloe bursts into Talon apartment. She tells Lois Graham is a killer. They run out to find Clark who’s buried in a shallow grave by some construction equipment in the alley. Lana finally leaves Lex along for a few minutes so he can get an update from Dr. Fine. He and Dr. Fine are instant messaging one another about the virus creation. Lana comes back in with special jammies for Lex. Lex hears a thud in the hall as the guard is knock unconscious and sees his door open. He grabs his gun, gets up, and pushes Lana behind him while he starts shooting. He hits the invisible Graham. Lex and Lana head for the door and see blood drops on the floor. Lex raises the gun to shoot again as he gets clobbered in the head. Graham flickers into view and grabs the gun. They run into the hall and Graham follows shooting at Lex and Lana. Clark superspeeds past them to catch the bullet and exits without being seen. He watches from a distance as he hears Lana look lovingly at Lex and say you saved me as she melts into Lex’s embrace. (barf bag time again) Lois comes in to talk with Martha in the farmhouse kitchen. Martha asks how she’s doing after the whole Graham incident. Lois replies, “Well getting swept off my feet by a hit man is just my way of living la vita loco.” Martha comforts her by saying there’s no way she could have known about him. Lois asks Martha why she can’t find the right guy. Martha smiles knowingly and says when she was Lois’s age she dated all the dark and dangerous guys too. She encourages Lois by telling her maybe she has to date the wrong ones in order to find the right one. (Cute scene. Nice foreshadowing.) Clark takes a copy of the paper to Chloe to congratulate her on her first front page by-line. He apologizes for doubting her friendship. (NICE! I’ve been waiting for two seasons to see this scene.) Clark is back in his loft pondering what Chloe said to him and putting his telescope away. Lana comes to see him and tell him about her and Lex’s relationship. He tries to tell her to be careful. She tells him she doesn’t need his protection anymore and reiterates once again that they are through. (And I wonder if the writers actually comprehended Lana's lines and will really let this be the end of Clana. I can only hope.) |

I really liked the ending scene with Clark and Chloe. It was :beg: to see Chloe look at Clark with such a knowing look when he talked about seeing Lex and Lana together since she had been in the same situation. I also liked the conversation between Martha and Lois. It was good foreshadowing as said previously. |
