That episode was the best. I can't wait until the first episode eather. I want to see how Clark gets out too. And I used to like Lana when she was with Clark, but theres an end for everything, and I'm just glad thats in the past. I was a bit happy to see that Lana was a crazy and out of her mind, I'm starting to get annoyed by her. I did enjoyed the Chole/Clark kiss. I loved the ending! I'd give it a 10/10.

I loved everything except two things 1. Martha and Lois passing out. 2. Lana still being alive, she's such a [censor].

The best part was Chloe kissing Clark,I was rooting for Chloe.Notice how Clark didn't have that BDA look,he was speechless. But also had that "I've got to save everyone" look in his eye.

I really liked this finale  …it had thrills & chills, just down right fun to watch :D . For me it was like reading a Supes comic book because most of it was concentrated on Brainiac/Zod storyline. Although I do have to remember that most SV finales are always very good, even the first couple of episodes into the season as a whole are top notched…but then they lose their way and we get nothing but fillers with shipper droning for the rest of the season. This whole season should have been focusing on the Kryptonian angle instead of Clana central or even the needless killing of Jonathan. His death didn’t make CK any better off at this point. If they had this Kryptonian storyline front & centered of each episode it would have been awesome to finally see Clark's progression to becoming Supes and this finale would have been epic to the show.

My favorite scene was of Lex on the roof top, so menacing & ominous… just how I wanted to see him, looming over metropolis…yeah…yeah I know it ain’t Lex but still a cool scene. I bet when season 6 premiers he’ll probably be back as a wimp saying Lana you gotta love me :shakehead: .

I also loved the Chlark kiss...you gettem girl...

I hate this Martha/Lionel crap…I’m sorry for the poop word but that's what it is to me. I don’t approve & will never stomach this shipper :barf: . It’s a slap in the face to every married woman that love their man unconditionally & to the end. They are writing her as disloyal to her husband and all he did to protect his family. She is being portrayed in my book as dancing on his grave…shame on you writers for her portrayal in all of this. She is stronger than that…make her so. Oh well that’s my little rant for the episode.

Overall an A for giving me thrills & chills…woohooo it tickles :P: …I better enjoy this feeling while I can cuz I got an inkling next season is going to be nothing but Lexana…gag me now >D .

Side note: The New Superman trailer rocked…I’m so hoping it lives up to the hype.

I wish they'd just have Clark tell Lana the truth about Lex becoming the vessel for Zod. I can see why she doesn't trust him, but has Clark ever lied to her when it concerned someone's life? I was kind of wondering why Lana was kissing Lex at the end when all those people were dying below her. I guess we now know who's more important in Queen Lana's life. I'm also glad that Chloe finally kissed Clark. Yay!!!! Also Lex being taken over by Zod, I just thought that he'd get Clark's powers instead. I'm with Knight on the Mionel though. I'm starting to hate that. He's getting chummy with Martha and her husband hasn't been dead a year yet. I know he's on her and Clark's side, but I would make him respect the love she and Jonathan had.

I'm with you. The ending felt so been there, done that. Especially since we had a similar situation with Jor-El's training at the end of S3. Now, the only difference is there is an extreme thread.

This was a pretty good episode. It was a mighty fine cliffhanger. The special effects were good, they showed off a bit, put a little more effort into it than some of the other episodes this season. I loved Chloe kissing Clark, I cheered out loud and so did my sister. That was great, oh and also how he stopped the car that crashed into the "Planet." The cliffies were well done, we now see Clark in the phantom zone (that was totally cool how he got sucked in just like a snap of fingers), Martha and Lois unconcikous on a runaway plane, Chloe and Lionel being harrassed in the angry and chaotic mobs that are well... mobbing Metropolis, and Lex/Zod ready to terrorize, take over, and destroy humanity. Wowie. That was good. I can't wait until september, let me just say that.

That one scene between Clark and Lex was awesome! Lex is certainly finally taking the final leap into the abyss of as the Jedi say it "the dark side of the force." I'm curious to see how Clark can get himself out of the Phantom Zone and how everybody is going to survive. I'd say it would be a 9 out of 10 as episodes go. It was one of the better ones of the season.

Okay, my turn to rant about one thing that I've been saying for a long time: Jor-El is NOT Jor-El - and we saw proof tonight.

How did that dagger suddenly become a bad thing when Jor-El said Clark would have to kill Lex with it? Here's why:

Jor-El is Zod - like I've been saying for a LONG time. He knew Clark wouldn't be able to kill, he knew he'd use it against Fine - it was all a set up. Fine couldn't corrupt the Fortress himself, we saw that the first time he tried releasing Zod; Clark had to be the one to insert the crystal to release Zod.

So, unless there's a BIG goof - which is possible - then the only way that the dagger was the portal for Lex to become Zod was if the Fortress had already been corrupted - and that would have only happened if Zod had been pretending to be Jor-El in the first place; that would explain why he was able to interact with Clark on a personal level ... not as a machine, but as a thinking entity that could manipulate, even from beyond the physical realm.

In short, like I've been saying since the end of Season 2 - Jor-El is Zod - or the writers have committed a MAJOR goof.

Here's what i'm hoping for a Season 6 next fall. In the opening Premeire Zod kills Lana. And everyone else lives except Zod and Fine. And get Clark out of that Phantom Zone.

I wonder if Jor-el knew his son's conflict over killing Lex. Clark is uncapable of killing. Also did anyone get confused when they said twice that Clark is like his father? All I could think of was which one? Jonathan or Jor-el?

The Keeper of All Things Chloe
WOW!!! That was a kick @$$ episode, I mean i think the writers finally got their heads outta their lower end for once.

Was it just me or did Lana walk by the luthor limo and chloe being ripped apart by the menacing crowd of men? I found it cool that Lionel was trying to save chloe when during the end of season 3 he tried to blow her to kingdom come. People say that they've wussed lionel out, but i don't see it. I see it as humanizing him to be lex's conscious.

Now I've been wondering, since we saw all tall dark and baldy as Zod, would Black kryptonite work to remove it from lex and if so would that also remove that little bit of humanity left in him to make him his true dark self and would he remember clark's powers. Man if i were the writers i would have wrote a line in that lex says to lana along the lines of that clark is just like me or something to push clark's secret out to lana just cause i want her to know for some odd reason.

and fine flying the plane...that was odd. I WANNA KNOW WHATS GOING ON WITH MARTHA AND LOIS!!! And chloe, please don't kill her, please please please please...I kinda got that feeling when she told clark the same thing his daddy did, you can't save everyone. but see what makes superman great and the legends great is that he lives off of the goodness of people and never truly wants to believe that someone is can be completely evil, he always feels that there is goodness inside.

And the Chlark kiss (tho i am a femslash writer) was AWESOME!!!!!!!

MLL, I completely agree with you. I KNEW something wasn't right when things didn't go as planned with the dagger, and I think when they said they were refering to Clark as being like his dad, I think it was a Jonathan reference because, maybe I'm mistaken, but wasn't Jor-El...not so nice on Krypton? So Clark wouldn't be like him.

I'm growing a soft side for Lionel. I don't if it's because he's not been really evil lately or keep Clark's secret or what but I'm really starting to like him. Then when Lex threw him against the windshield of the vehicle, I SOOOO THOUGHT he was dead. Because his face was so..deathly startled or whatever. But then he rolled over. I was gasping at that.

My favorite scene was when Chloe kissed Clark. I was hoping she'd said 'I love you Clark.' or something but she didn't. I have a feeling she'll be dying soon...which will make me really sad.

I didn't care for the Martha or Lois scenes except when Lois and were talking about Lionel and that Lois believes Martha is denying it for Clark's sake...heh.

And Lana...she can just go off somewhere. I give the episode a 10/10. My fave finale so far.

Gotta Love That Good Old Smallville Feeling <3
Ok wow...

I thought it was amazing..

The only damper was Lana and how ticked off I got from her! How dare she say "I don't know how I could have ever loved you" to Clark...I wanted to kill her.. but that's beside the point..

It was a very very dark episode, lol which was cool in a way, I can't wait until September to see how Clark get's out and saves everyone lol...

You know..that scene between Lex and Clark in the barn before he turned into Zod..you know that was an amazingly well done scene and the dialogue was excellent but you know what..when Lex told Clark that he just tried to make the friendship work because he wanted everything Clark ever had...and said you're family, your loyal girl..etc..and then told him "at least I walked away with the thing you loved the most"...something about that like was so brilliant, yet it gave me such a sick sad feeling I mean we knew that side of Lex was always there somewhat and it was coming now more than ever, but It was like Lex did a complete 180 right then and there

Great finale, however not my favorite yet :p

Where to begin?

I really wanted to love this episode, but I didn't. I did like it. It moved along nicely with good action. It just wasn't outstanding. I thought the ending with Clark in the phantom zone left a lotto be desired. Overall I liked it, but the ending just sucked.

Excellent acting tonight! Tom Welling and John Glover were absolutely fantastic together. Tom's ability to convey emotions with his eyes has improved ten-fold over the season. Michael Rosenbaum's acting was great. He sold mechanical evil fairly well.

Lois and Martha good chemistry together too. Lois has just the right amount of sass and insecurity to make her charming and vulnerable.

Although I like the darker side of Lana, the basic character flaws are still there which make her about as interesting as a paper doll. When she declared her undying loyalty to Lex all I could think was you're getting exactly what you deserve. As a viewer I have no empathy for her character. She's whiney, selfish, and doesn't think twice about betraying the people who care for her.

The Clark and Chloe kiss was nice. It wasn't overdone and let us see that despite her efforts to control her feelings and try to maintain a friendship-only relationship with Clark, she still loves him. Our hearts ache for her as she bravely kisses him even though she knows the feelings won't be returned.

I don't like the hot/cold feelings Martha is displaying toward Lionel. She was pretty clear a couple episodes ago when she told Lionel they would never be more than friends and last night she was acting like she might consider something more. Perhaps it's just inconsistent script writing, but they need to cool their jets with this shipper idea. There is no way Martha would consider dating anyone this soon after Jonathan's death particularly Lionel.

Overall the special effects were good. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of a "superfight" between Lex and Clark, but it was decent. I thought the rioting scenes were a little over the top, but menacing Lex staring down on it all was pretty spectacular. I can't say I'm dying to know the outcome. Season 3 cliffhanger was much better than this.

Perhaps I'll watch it next year, perhaps not. The elements that made Smallville unique for the first 3 seasons have disappeared turning it into an ordinary show filled with same eye-candy, sex-filled soap-opera style writing that you can watch on just about any channel. I was really hoping for a strong ending and a return to the quality of the first 3 seasons, sadly I don't think it's gonna happen.

House, Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy and CSI do a much better job of holding my attention than Smallville at the moment.
