Ok I have set up a soapbox :soapbox: for season 5…I would love to read about your thoughts on what you liked & didn’t like about this season as a whole cuz I’m just curious :P: . What would you like to see in season 6 if SV is picked up by the CW network? Give this season a rating w/10 being the best & and 1 being the worst. Will you buy season 5 DVD or any of the SV merchandize (Example: SV mag, episode guide books, trading cards & other related stuff)? Side note: PLEASE remember peeps...this thread is a soapbox and everyone is entitled to their opinion this is not to start debates or conflicts. So please just say your peace & move on, everyone see things differently and everyone opinions should be respected. I just thought it would be therapeutic to have your voices heard about season 5 with all the radical moves this season… :bidea: so peeps about season 5… did ya love it, like it or hate it. |

Protector of Jonathan's Legacy
|
I didn't like the death of Jonathan as he was a true role model and a great character. I didn't like the resurrection of the Clark/Lana storyline. It was pointless and annoying. I didn't like the Lionel/Martha storyline as it seemed disrespectful to Jonathan for Martha to be involved with another man within days of his death. I didn't like the way the writers lacked enough imagination to think up fresh storylines and instead treated us to rehashed old ones or rip-offs from the movies. I didn't like the inclusion of bad language. I didn't like the new sexy, sleezy and immoral overtones to this series. I didn't like the whiney, self obsessed, immature and dim Clark. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next season I would like fresh and imaginative new storylines. Next season I would like them to find a way to bring Jonathan back. Next season I would like Clark to be showing clear signs of his growing maturity and development into Superman. Next season I would like Lana and Lionel to go, they are both well past their usefulness to the series. Next season I would like Smallville to go back to being a family friendly show again with no swearing, sleeze or sex. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rating: 3/10 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No I won't be buying the series on DVD or any other related merchandise. |

The season began very promising even though they made the mistake of putting back Clark and Lana, never bringing up that Lana had murdered someone even if it was in self defense. I like the introduction of the real FOS, Milton Fine, ( who is being nicknamed, SoFine), Mr Kent running for State Senate. Now when season 5 began to lose direction was when they did the biggest blunder of killing Mr Kent, this was pointing out in Supermanhomepage, that the creators lacked and always have lacked the guts to do something risky. Something daring, like really killing off Lana Lang, that in some ways would had brought in more viewers, and had the character served a purpose. But no they went with "safer" rote and got rid of Mr Kent. And how did they handle his death? they had his airheaded son bring back the girlfriend and than he died instead of being like when his mother was on the verge of dying. Than came the lowest of the low, have his wife, become friends with the man who has wanted to destroy them for life. Yes I will be buying the dvd, but not the rest of the merchandise. |

I didn't like the death of pa kent The Clana thing should have never happened. and basically everything that Carrie said. i will not be buying the season 5 dvd i abdicated watching Smallville now.Cause around season 4 i felt like i was being swallowed chewed up and was spit out with the 100th episode. I have no intentions of ever watching Smallville again. I'd rather convert the $800 TT to US dollars and buy X-men 1&2 3 if it comes out by then all the X:-men evolution dvds and the X-men animate series DVD's Mutant Pride. |

Are you guys kidding me? In pretty much all storys Jonathan Kent was killed because of some heart problem. There are a few storys that he live example Lois and Clark Adventures. I was expecting him to die because of his heart. I'll be honest, I was a Clark/Lana fan at the begaining of the season, only because thats how it was in the comics. But now there over, and I'm happy with that. I'm glad that the writers made it happion for real one last time. I do agree with one thing, Clark was a bit obsessed, and immature. But I would have reacted the same way. Over all this season was the best. It had some contunity(spelling?), and a story line with a twist of there own from the comic books/movies. I loved how Lionel came into play during this season to help Clark out. And the part in this last eposide where Clark or Chole says (can't remember who said it) that Jor-El was a good guy, just trying to protect everyone. I loved how they brough Zod into the picture. I'd give this season 10/10. Can't wait until next season, this summer is going to be a long one. The ending was all too exciting. |

Hope you don't think I'm just a jerk. I loved Pa Kent alot, hes one of my favorite guys on the show. I just knew from the Ploit episode that he was going to be gone sooner or later. I was prepaired for it long ago when the first signs of him having heart problems started. |

One of the biggest mistakes they made was killing Jonathan and the other big mistake was letting Lana live. |

Well he did die in the 100th episode. 100th episode of any show should be like and treated like a season finally. The creators of Smallville did say that they loved John, but they where also taking storys and ideas from the early comics and movies. I do agree Lana most go now. She's serverd her propess already. |

Suz pretty much sums up how I feel about killing Jonathan. And letting lana still live,to me the real lana is Chloe. Each year I leave out a slim of hope, that Al & Miles learned something. And each year i'm sadly mistaken lana hasn't grown up at all. She's known Clark since high school,in Hidden she defended.Clark against Lex now she blames Clark for everything. "I can't see how I could, ever love you" Clark saved her a hundred times, tried to warn her against people who use her. And in the end thats how she shows her gratitude,i'd consider her worse than Zod. If a Season 6 happens, and Clark's still whiney over lana. Then i'm giving up on the show,it's sad to see that the rpgs here. Show more heart and intelligence than the Smallville Writing Staff. |

Here are the big things I didn't like: 1. The Clana (What was the point of bringing them back together? Their dating relationship was covered back at the end of season two and beginning of season three. Why torture all of us with it?) 2. The sexuality (Clark and Lana sleeping together, seductive vampires, the stripper Lois scene in "Exposed," Clark and Hypno-Girl making out in the loft, and Lois in the shower. Most of us hate that. One of the reasons I started watching the show was that no one on it appeared to like that kind of thing, including Clark.) 3. The immaturity of some of the characters (Clark and Lana are the biggest one's when it comes to immaturity. How shallow can you be to beg for sex?) 4. The death of Jonathan Kent (Why take out the character we all love? I would take out the character that serves no purpose. I would say Lana, but everyone takes a backseat to Lana. She's so perfect. No one's as perfect as her. :shakehead: ) 5. The Mionel (It totally disrespects Jonathan to have Lionel flirt with Martha like he does.) 6. Stupid storyplots (Only two or three come to mind. "Thirst," "Tomb," and martha and lionel in that game was kind of lame and "hypnotic" Now what I did like: 1. Chloe helping Clark (She was a good person for Clark to share his secret with. I hope that kiss opens the door to a relationship between Clark and Chloe.) 2.Milton Fine/Brainiac (I don't know about tonight's episode, but I did like him in the beginning of the season. He was perfect for that. I wonder if he's coming back since he has more lives than a cat.) 3. Lionel becoming the good guy (I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I liked Lionel helping Clark.) 4. The storylines they gave Jonathan and Martha (Since they were taking him out it was great that they gave him more of an involvment in the show than they did last season and gave a plot to Martha as well. Well that's all I can think of any more and I'll let you know. |

I liked it to a small degree, but it still felt like more repeition. I didn't like: Clark's lying. Clark's hyprocrisy. Clark and Lana = the most forced relationship on TV if you ask me honestly. The randomness of the episodes. Lack of real character development as usual. Unknowning Lana - this is simply dragging out the plot. Things I did like: The further development of Jor-El. Lionel's role in the series. Jonathon's death (I know most hate it but it was in the vein of the comics/movies). Brainiac. Zod. Aquaman. Cyborg. The Daily Planet. |

Gotta Love That Good Old Smallville Feeling <3
|
Season 5...Season 5..Season 5... I remember last year watching season 4 thinking..man this whole witch thing..i dont think it can get much worse...well season 5 proved me wrong. I have yet to see the finale, and i am sure it was great, but as a whole season 5 just didnt do it for me. I am forever puzzled at how they could dare advertise this season as "Everything you've waited to see" I would take Lana and the witches over this seasons crap anyday. Don't get me wrong..this season i would said had about 8-10 solid episodes in my opinion, but it just wasn't enough. What I didn't like The Killing of one of my favorite most beloved characters, not to mention the only level headed character on the show..Jonathan Kent Clark and Lana and the whole sex angle this season took on. NO ONE CARES ABOUT THAT. One of the main reasons i fell in love with Smallville was because it wasnt like every other teen show with that. Don't get me wrong Smallville isn't like every other show now but that angle that took up a ridiculous amount of the season was not only not wanted by me but very unnecessary. All the filler episodes in the middle. I look back to season 1..and season 1 had sooo many freak of the week episodes but you know what, they were all great in my opinion, i dont care what there is to say you can throw "Metamorphises" with bugboy at me anyday over some of the season 5 episodes, because you know what, no matter how stupid some of the freak of the weeks may have been, all the episodes had that certain good feeling about them. They all had so much depth even in the beginnning. Between the quotes from season 1...certain scenes with songs in them, much of season 1 just tugs at the heart strings in my opinion...somewhere along the line now in season 5 smallville lost that certain special "thing" it had. That special feeling that no matter how fillerish some old episodes may have been they were still good. The last few episodes of season 5 i have to say i was pleased with. I know I talked a lot of earlier seasons and did mostly comparing, but it's just to get my point across lol I would give this season a 4/10 Yes ill buy the DVD's, don't know about the other stuff yet Here's to hoping season 6 will redeem the show and bring back some of that special unique something that smallville had. |

I did like: -When Clark protected Chloe on the fortress, it showed how much he cares for her and the fact that now he knows she knows his secret it has broght them closer than ever. -When Clark and Lana got together and there was a hope that they would last this time, since there would be no secrets and no lies. I enjoyed it when it lasted, it was nice to see Clark so happy with the woman he loves at the moment. -I liked seeing the soft and vulerable part of Louis in Aqua. -I liked seein a good and full of love Lex on Lexmas. -I liked the graveyard scene the snow made it look so much more sad, on episode 100th. :sob: -Loved Chloe seeing her mom -Chloe showing what a great friend she is and how much she loves Clark. -Arrival -Mortal -Hidden -Splinter -Lexmas -Reckoning I did not like: -Lana beging for sex (how pathetic) -Clark having sex with Lana under his parents roof. -The whole night club thing on "Exposed" is so not smallville. - Hated: - Fanatic, boring - Vengance,(except for the Chloe/Clark scene on the alley.) - Thirts ridiculos - Tomb - Exposed - Hipnotic why show more flesh??? Chlark being such a moron some times. Martha and Lionel... give me a break, we all know that is not Martha. I used to watch more than once an episode, but now I just watch it and dont care to see it again, I rather go to season 2 and go to the old good times. Im really desapointed with the turn they have given to the show, they need to get new writters with more original ideas and to keep the caracters consistency. I will be buying the dvd because I have all the other seasons, but not because I think is worth it. Hope next season gets better, you can always hope... :wall: |

Okay, I'm going to give my review of the season ... what I've known and heard. What I liked: The only thing I really liked about this season was Jonathan. He was a tremendous asset to Clark's character. What I didn't like: Everything else. Killing Jonathan, Clark sleeping with Lana, Chloe being turned into a Girl Friday, Lana, Lex getting superpowers, the Lionel is good thing (I will never buy that), Martha betraying Jonathan by befriending the man who threatened and blackmailed her family for years, Lana, Clark's idiocy growing in leaps and bounds, the horrible destruction of an American icon. I didn't buy Season 4 DVD - and I most certainly will NOT be even considering Season 5 DVD. If they have a Season 6 after this fiasco ... I shudder to think of what other things they'll be doing to destroy such a wonderful role model. |
