FRIDAY

Returning for its ninth season, last season SMALLVILLE was filled with twists and surprises, starting with the disappearance of Lex Luthor. However, someone quickly arrived to take his place – the enticing Tess Mercer. As Tess maneuvered her way through town, she flirted with her old flame Oliver Queen, discovered Clark’s true identity and unleashed a new world of danger. As if that hurdle wasn’t enough for Clark, he also met his greatest match – Doomsday. SMALLVILLE explored the origins of Doomsday, revealing a sympathetic guy named Davis Bloome, who battled an inner demon – the Doomsday character fans have loved to hate for years. When Clark wasn’t busy battling the beast, he was knee-deep in work at the Daily Planet. Last season threw Clark and Lois Lane together – literally across the desk from each other. As Clark’s persona as the cub Planet reporter emerged, so did his feelings for Lois, the fated love of his life. The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen and Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer. Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”), based on the DC Comics characters. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson serve as executive producers, along with James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

So what's everyone's opinion on the move to Fridays?

I don't see the point for it. The new show they want to show can be shown on Friday.

i dont see the point of a season 9..Clark aint that little farm boy anymore and 2
isnt Friday night the night where theyshow shows that are going down the toilet? I mean Friday night is when people go out and have fun, and some religious groups their sabbath begins so they would loose more viewers (unless they have tivo or something)

I think they should change the show from Smallville to something else. John Schneider kind of said the same thing after watching episodes of season six after he got taken out. it's not about a teenage boy and his parents and friends any more. I didn't think about people going out on Fridays and people who won't watch it for religious reasons. I guess that would make them lose more people in their fan base. And they have been losing fans more and more since season five.

Smallville moving to Fridays. Hmmmmm that doesn't effect me much at all. At least I don't think. And if I can't be here on Fridays then I can simply record the show. At least I'll be able to Watch Bones on Thursday night. Since its new Season is beginning and Fringe comes on Thursdays too and I'm into that new show.I"ll probably Dvr Supernatural as well.

I agree with Brittney that the show needs to be called something else. Clark and his friends aren't teens and arent in High School anymore. I think the show needs to be called Metropolis since it is centered in the Metropolis area. And it could be like a spin off for that show. What do you think??

my two cents on this is it doesn't bother me at all if you recall before the CW happened. Angel originally started right after Buffy,it went from Tuesday nights,to Sunday, then Monday, and finally Wednesday I believe.

The way I see the evil Dawn (CW CEO) simply moved it to Friday because.

1. The show will only be on for a year or two assuming Season 10 happens.

2. They gave Vampire Diaries with the 7pm timeslot, because it's a better fit with Supernatural. You got a show about two brother vampires one good the other evil. Followed by a show based on two brothers who are hunters that kill the Supernatural (werewolfs, vampires, demons, etc) The network is going for a bigger ratings and I think it fits well. I just hope that they at least boost the ads for Smallville and Supernatural this time.

I too agree that the name of the show should be change because I assume the show. Will be very similar to Season 8 which is 90% Metropolis and 10% Smallville. There's also been a rumor going around by bloggers that Season 9 and/or 10 will likely be Superman seasons. Which is Clark Kent wearing the costume because at this point there is very little to go on.

Season 8 was a flip of the light switch Clark quit acting like a crybaby. He accepted his destiny, created a secret identity, and matured a lot. The only thing that was left is flying, the glasses, freeze breath (assuming that is one of his original powers),and the suit.

I'm all for a stictly Superman Season because at this point the only thing stopping that. Is having Clark take a step back and keep repeating the same mistakes again. And at this point Clark is about 23 he's a grown man, though if the don't go the Superman route. At least have Clark go back to college to get his degree as much as I enjoy seeing Clark work at the Planet.

It makes no sense for him to rise up as a reporter without a degree. With only 1 year of college experience this show is based around reality. Letting Clark just get the position handed to him isn't right,it's like he just handed in the application and they said 'you're hired'.

At least Dean Cain's Clark Kent graduated from College, and had to prove himself. In order for Perry White to hire him,and my other issue is: when are they going to bring Perry back? We need to see how Perry finds himself in the Daily Planet as the Chief Editor before the show ends.

But a lot of things in "Smallville" reminds me of something you might see on "Supernatural." I don't watch "Supernatural," but I have seen the commercials. I still don'tt see the point to the change. It just seems to me that it's a little unnecessary.

I have a feeling Season 10 will be a Superman Season a few months before Season 8 ended. I made the prediction on Kryptonsite that in Season 9 Clark would be wearing some kind of suit and sure enough. Clark is wearing a super suit listening to the interviews by Peterson. I seriously doubt they can keep from breaking the one rule they have left: no tights.

This season they claim to have Clark finally come out of denial about being in love with Lois. He falls for Lois and Lois falls for the Blur,he'll be in the shadows with the iconic symbol as his calling card. After he's saved the day in secret plus along the way this season he'll figure out a way to start wearing glasses. With all that planned for Season 9's arch, and their confident about a Season 10.

How could they not make it a half or full Superman Season there's just too little left tog o on. I say have Season 10 be a full or good chunk of it be Superman in the tights and end it at that. Because I don't see (or want) a Season 11 they only got Tom to get a 9 and 10 contract. By letting him direct more and have a producer credit, there's no way they can afford to have a Season 11.

7th Heaven was evidence of that after their 10 year they were only able to do it.By cutting the casts pay checks in half and they aren't like Smallville. Where you've got a set budget and CGI/Special Effects budget. So Season 10 would definately be the final Season if this season isn't the last.

I'm excited about a new Smallville Season. As always, I'm a huge fan of the show and never dissapointed with any of the shows. They always have an excellant cast and Writers. And like Mano says, I hope if they have a Season Ten, that it'll show Clark becoming Superman. Because then we pretty much know the rest of the story.

As for Supernatural goes, Like Smallville in my opinion Those two are two of the best shows on Television. Supernatural is Awesome and I love Jensen and Jared!

I'm kind of hoping that this is the last season. After 8 years it's not as exciting as it once was and a lot of the cast has moved on that was there in the beginning. Even Lana and Lex are gone. I was glad to see Lana go, but it makes me wonder what else could they have Clark go through on his journey to become Superman?

At least I can find out about the fall schedule online. I will probably watch Bones and Supernatural on Thursday and record Fringe since it comes on same time as Supernatural does. And watching Smallville should't be a problem at all. I should record Ghost Whisperer on Scifi though:)

The fall schedule for me will be slightly different i'll be checking out Heros on Mondays.Vampire Diaries and Supernatural on Thurdays, Smallville on Fridays, and download Dexter. Sometime during the week whenever it's available online after it's Sunday broadcast (I don't have showtime). I already have the first episode downloaded with 11 more to go (the premiere episode of Dexter was leaked online.i'm dying to find out how Dexter survives his automobile accident from being sleep deprived.)

On the issue with Smallville's late release at the near end of September I agree with Craig for once. CEO Dawn has it set up for Vampire Diaries to be aired twice after it's Sept 10th premiere. Both Friday and Sunday night and at this point CW has already started airring. Smallville on Friday nights so people will be use to the change so why not have Smallville start September 11th instead of the 25th.

Because in the past Supernatural has always started it's premieres at the same as Smallville. So it would make more sense to have Smallville start the day after Supernatural does.

Dad says if a Show changes it's time around too much, it could be in danger of canceling. I hope not. I think Smallville is an awesome show and one of the best in tv (Supernatural is one of the best to). So I at least want to see two more seasons.

I can't wait for new episodes of Bones, Fringe, and Supernatural to come on to as well. And House is always good to. Lately, me and my family have been enjoying NCIS.
