- Ravenrock Castle
-
Built just off the end bank of the Starsong River, Ravenrock sits at an elevated point within over the river. A solid mass of architecture Ravenrock extends its halls into the stone hill that it sits upon with layers of halls and rooms buried deep beneath the surface. Three towers line the exterior with a clear view in all directions for several miles and every raise hall is layered with wide windows and murder holes that can hold any number of archers. The Keep has two gates, one in the front and one behind, both of which can only be accessed by stone ramps that stem off of two narrow rods leading into the Keep proper. Around the exterior of the grounds is a thick wall poised below the keep itself, allowing for bows to reach enemies outside from the separate heights simultaneously. Entrance into the castle is possible from either the Iron Gate (South) or the Raven Gate (East) with the former leading into a Hail Town and the latter at the end of the Borrow Road. Ravenrock, while carrying the ancestral name of the Blackthorne lands, is not the original home of the House. The ancestral lands were stripped from the House by the Dragon Dynasty and given over to the Lannisters with little rhyme or reason, leaving the once suitably larger Blackthornes as a mere shadow of their former power. - Iron Town
-
A mining community, Iron Town is set between Ravenrock and the Starsong River. As the largest settlement in the domain it is both the safest and most prosperous community boasting a large degree of trade from both land and river routes. The Angel Road leads into the town proper from the West (passing Ravenrock) and the end bank of the river sits on the town's southwesstern edge attracting vessels from The Fingers. Set against a mountainous backdrop Iron Town has a queer degree of weather, mixed with long dry seasons and long wet seasons, but the atmosphere is either always one or the other. The people of Hail Town are strong, thick, and resilient, living in difficult conditions and managing their lives without much suspense. Iron Town predates Ravenrock, but before the establishment of the castle and the arrival of the Blackthornes the town was a small village that existed in poverty and fear from the Clans. The noble family is loved by the people for their contributions to the community and from turning their home from a perilous peasantry into a bustling town safe from such incursions. - Stonefall Ruin
-
An old, abandoned castle, Stonefall (as named by the annals of history) is an ancient stronghold left by the First Men. Rumored to be a meeting hall for the Men an the Children of the Forest, Stonefall boasts an impressive foundation high above the Starsong and is easily one of the most defensible structures in the region. Only empty halls remain, though no one has entered the ancient grounds for thousands of years, leaving it unexplored and unkempt. On occasion bandits make their home inside the upper layers but many of the passageways and halls remain lost beneath the surface. - Ravens Watch
-
Originally built as an extension of Stonefall (now the Blackthorne's Eastern Domain) Ravens Watch sits high atop the mountainous rock face, giving sight to a large portion of the lands surrounding the Fever River and the Saltspear. Ravens Watch is not so much a defensible structure as it as a resting point and post, built with a shaky architecture that houses an Eeyrie and an early warning pyre that can be seen for several leagues in any direction; the fire acts as a warning for both Ravenrock and as longer train for Starsong. A long, narrow road (called the Angel Road) leads up the side of Cloud Peak (the highest peak in the mountain range) and is the only way to reach the tower's entrance, albeit there are several hidden paths that connect to the road and provide travelers respites on their journey. Ravens Watch is the primary home of the Bloodthorn Rangers, a group of wilderness savvy individuals that live and serve House Blackthorn as guides and in the act of guerrilla warfare. On the sixteenth name day of any Blackthorn, they are taken to the top of Ravens Watch and left to the Rangers for a months time where they are instructed in their ways and left to watch over the domain in a very literal manner.
