So I was reading this little thread a few moments, talking about Youtube comments/feedback in general, and since this is a forum who basically started because of youtube, I think that this would be an interesting topic to discuss. First, let's talk about the chain of events on why I wanted to make this topic. So, while I was surfing this site named reddit, I'm sure you've herddit (kill me), I found this topic on TotalBiscuits subreddit. It talked about him ignoring his subreddit, or so I assume, because he removed his comment a few moments later when TotalBiscuit didn't ignore that particular topic. You can read that comment here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Cynicalbrit/comments/1xrx27/in_light_of_tb_abandonning_his_own_subreddit/cfe3rgc So, this skyrocketed to the /bestof subreddit, in which eventually some other big-name youtube-celebrities came together like it was the second coming of The Avengers: Catvideos strike back. You can read that here: http://www.reddit.com/r/bestof/comments/1xs45h/realtotalbiscuit_total_biscuit_of_youtube_fame/ And that takes me back to this topic, after we traveled around the internet and explored the mountains of *insert generic tolkien name here*. Honestly though, just reading those statements already made me bummed out. It really gave me some newfound respect to the people who actually have to deal with this on a day-to-day business. So I was wondering, for the people on this site that have/had a youtube channel, how much do comments affect you? And for the people who regularly made youtube comments, what's your opinion on this issue? Edited by Huzzahfortimelines, Feb 13 2014, 03:39 PM.

Well I'm not really that popular so my comment section is pretty clear But on saturday when I uploaded the budokai tag team championship pre-week (the new name for the minors) I didn't know my mic was going to be that crap since before it was pretty awesome (got a new one today as a result) and of course the comment section was just 'GET A NEW MIC!' or 'I'M GONNA MUTE THIS BECAUSE OF STATIC!' so yeah that was fun . I do understand why they said it but didn't have to spam it, just one comment about it is fine, don't go ballistic and say how crap it is cuz I know how crap it is already without you telling me. Constructive criticism is fine I don't mind that, but if its something that has been said before don't bother saying it again. Or say pretty hateful things to the person, if you don't like him or whatever just leave and never comment don't bother saying how stupid he is. Just dislike it and never go on it again. Simple really, hell angry joe talked a bit about this topic slightly when doing his top 10 controversies video when he mentioned aneeta sarkeezy or whatever it is and saying how she kept getting death/ rape threats because of her views on video games which I find really sickening. Although if you are as big as say angry joe or total biscuit you don't really look at the comments do you since you got like a million views and you don't have time to read every comment but when you're a small channel though its more hurtful as a result since you want to see what people think about you. my fan base on youtube, as small as it currently is, is really good, pretty much just positive comments, and on occasion debating a point I made in a video, which I embrace, since I love a good debate, and I can't recall a bad debate that's happened on one of my videos, although back when I first started making youtube videos I did get the occasional "stop pretending to be mature, you stupid kid" and the like, probably because my balls had yet to drop, but then they did... so that problem kinda solved itself, and I haven't gotten any comments like that since, honestly though, the more popular you are the more likely it is that you're gonna have hatters and trolls in your comment section, because people will get jealous of your success, but at that point you'll know you have a large audience so you probably won't care that much, but it's true that when you're starting out and generally getting more negative comments then positive comments it can be very discouraging, in some cases it's just as bad to be getting no comments at all, I went on a long LPing hiatus once for that very reason, but in hindsight that was silly because the best way to grow an audience really is to just be consistent with your uploads, but I'm getting sidetracked so I'll just leave this off here.
