The first three games I had a huge problem with, but not really at the fault of the games. I'm color blind and that just caused some problems at a few instances lets say. 4 is definitely one of my favorites, but I honestly never beat it just because it was so hard. I have even been playing it recently on an emulator and I still can't beat the thing, but I'm getting there. Symphony of the Night I really loved, it was just amazing. Bloodlines might be my absolute favorite. I'm really interested in playing Lords of Shadow, the first one not the new second one I hear is trash. |

I used to have Simon's quest on my Wii's virtual console, and I was convinced that the "What a terrible night to have a curse" thing actually did something. It doesn't. So...... THE FUCK KONAMI?!? |

The first Castlevania, Castlevania III, and Rondo of Blood/Dracula X are my favorites. Once the series got to the Metroidvania style I wasn't really digging it anymore. Lords of Shadow is terrible imo. I tried playing it, but I just couldn't get into it. I hear the same thing from others as well. |

I have seen some stuff from Rondo of Blood and Dracula X, but I don't really know the differences between them. I know Dracula X was a remake of some type of the Japanese version of Rondo of Blood, and Rondo of blood came out in the west later on PSP, but I don't know how they are different in gameplay/story or which I should try out, if either. Lords of Shadow interests me. I like God of War style games, and I think I would enjoy one in the Castlevania setting. The story sounds pretty good from what I know about it as well. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Lots of people say that they either fell out of love with Castlevania once metroidvania became a thing, but I know people that say they got into it because of them and they really love all the modern handheld games that do the SotN thing with the backtracking and the leveling up and the items and stuff. The only one like that I have played that was in that style was SotN and as I said, I loved that game. Also, I am wondering the appeal of 1 and 3, is it just nostalgia or do they hold up still? I legitimately cannot play the games so I don't really know. The only one that works enough with my eyes that I could even consider playing would be 2 because of the more washed out color pallet (I've seen many screenshots). But from what I hear about 2, its the worst thing ever made by mankind and I should stay as far away as possible. Edited by Grey, Mar 2 2014, 08:16 PM.

Well, I haven't played Lord of Shadows, but from what I heard is that it doesn't really have it's own identity. The combat is a sub-par God of War clone. The boss fights are a sub-par Shadow of the Colossus knock off. It doesn't really do anything to call it's own. |

I've played the demo and I had fun hitting werewolves with the combat cross. I can understand some people have different tastes, but I like these things. |

Lords of Shadow is a great one... Screw the DLC, but the main game is my personal favourite in teh series... It reignited my love for the series(Its actually one of my top 5 of all time.) Ill let you know once Ive finished and uploaded my lp of LOS2. first game is up if you're interested. Oh and classic, I can safely tell you I hated God of War because of how it felt in combat when I first played it... Just so you know, LoS didnt feel anything like it.
