The staff has gone over all of the entries and have all reached a decision for each teams coach. Before I get started I want to cover somethings. First and foremost, this is not up for debate. I know that sounds harsh, but it has to be that way. As with any tryouts, the judges decision is final. If not, then things devolve into a mess of arguments. In the end each team can only have one coach and some people will be upset they were not picked. It is natural, after all, if you did not think your build was best, you would not have submitted it. I only ask that you keep in mind that our choices were based on who we felt would do the best job for that team, not who we felt was the only person who would do a good job. On top of that, I urge everyone to remember the actual difference between coach and supporter is a very small gap. A coach is not a dictator. They do not get to force their views into law. Their voice is only as important as everyone else's on the team. The role of a coach is to be a ringleader. They are the ones expected to lead conversation, spur debate, post the agreed upon builds in the Final customization thread. The supporters have just as much say in build making. The point I am making is even if you are not a coach, you should not despair since your voice can and still will be a major factor in your team if you choose it to be. Finally, here is how this will go down. I will go team by team posting each applicants builds in a spoiler tag. Underneath it I will list the staffs general views and then I will post our pick for coach. I will be talking about the builds in a fair but straight forward manner. My goal is not to be hurtful or rude by any means. It is to avoid misunderstanding through sugar coating. Simple and straight forward is the easiest to understand. The rules the applicants were supposed to follow are below for reference:
Rules Declare the team that you wish to apply for. You may apply for any ONE (and ONLY ONE) of these teams. You do not have to have declared for the team that you are looking to coach. You will write out full builds and AI for all five members of your chosen team as if they were going up against a team consisting of: Majuub, Chiaotzu, Teen Gohan, Tabourine and Pilaf. The full builds need to be accompanied by an explanation as to why your builds and lineup are as they are. The potaras can be found here and rules regarding your teams found here. Your builds and explanations will be discussed by the Staff, who will reach an agreement on the next coach for each team.
Super Saiyans
RabidTurles I want to be Super Saiyans Coach, I would try to draft Mid-goku, (Release end-Goku) I would try to draft BROLY, (Release vegeta (Super) With this almighty team, few could rival the super saiyans, even on our worst weeks to Oppose the tryout team of, Majuub, Chioutzu, Teen Gohan, Tambourine and Pilaf i would lead with-
-SSJ BROLY with Broly (in other words default) AI
Defense+3 Attack-1 Power of Rage Master Strike Dendes healing
-Super Trunks Goku AI
Master Strike Quick Fast Attack Power Body Defense+1
-SSJ1 Vegeta 2nd Form Tien AI
Super+2 ki-1 Savior Serious Kibito's Secret Arts Dragon Spirit
-SSJ1 Gohan Frieza AI
Indignation! Ki+1 Fighting Spirit! Savior Master Blast Power of Rage
-Mid Goku Piccolo AI
Eternal Life Quick Fast Attack Serious! Mirage
Why did i make these decisions? (Trades, Builds, Ideal Match-ups) Well the answer is Simple
REASON FOR TRADES!- I want Mid-Goku because he is the Strongest member of the Earth Defenders, and End Goku is the Weakest Member of the Super Saiyans, it would make us even stronger while weakening the competition. The same reason goes to BROLY, only a stronger side, I want to pick up broly and drop Vegeta, i know Vegita is good...but he isn't BROLY good and it would make muscle weaker...ever so. (Keep in mind i would be hurting those teams, but not crippling them after all they both have strong alternates they can take...
REASON FOR BUILDS- Broly is a natural powerhouse, so i decided to make him more Defensive, this will allow him to take more hits, so he can survive until he decides to TRANSFORM!!!!
Super Trunks is slow but powerful so by giving him a huge Brick Wall he can go blow for blow easily in Melee and Defense+1 takes away the minus from power body
Vegeta is a Power B2 this is a fact, so i build him to come in with Savior hopefully fire off an ultimate and throw some good B2s
Gohan is A pure B2 spammer so i made him into what he does best, Spam savior lets him get a Bro's Kamehameha wave out and keep on destroying
And finally Mid-Goku, I made him Melee with no super minuses so he can throw some of them out to, Eternal life gives him Staying power, all together i think he'd be a good finisher
IDEAL MATCHUPS- BROLY vs. Majuub reason. Spammer, needs ki send out someone who wont let him charge
Trunks vs. Chioutzu reason. He's got a Stun b1 annd throws rocks in peoples faces, so i made a near complete melee fighter to stay in his face and brickwall his Stun B1
Vegeta vs. T/Gohan reason. Teen Gohan will kill you, so i sent in our best Character with savior to cut him down to size. and out class him like the Saiyan M****Y he is
Gohan vs. Tambourine reason. SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
Goku vs. Pilaf reason. Mid Goku with Eternal life, Melee build with NO super minuses... Enough Said
i played to Gohan, Trunks and Vegetas Strengths, and covered Broly and Goku's weaknesses to create what i see as a very Deadly Super Saiyan Team
I thought about these builds for Days, as well as the AI's and i think i did my best, so i may not fret if i fail, for i know i did my best
Sincerely, RabidTurles
#Need-That-FRUUUUIT!
While the builds here are not particularly bad, Rabid Turles did not follow the rules. Brolly and Mid-Goku are not now, nor have they ever been on the Super Saiyans. The rules clearly stated that you were to use the characters on the team you were applying for, not add anyone you choose. While this does not make a good first impression, it does not exactly eliminate Rabid from the running. The builds themselves are a good foundation, but lack a in depth knowledge of the Super Saiyan's strengths.
CrimsonFlame End Vegeta Broly AI Defense +2 Attack -1 Eternal Life Rising Fighting Spirit Quick Fast Attack
Adult Gohan Vegeta AI Super +2 Ki -1 Light Body Savior Kibito's Secret Art Fighting Spirit! Indignation!
Mid Vegeta Vegeta AI Ki +1 Rush Blast (3) Unleash Ki Savior Indignation!
Trunks Trunks AI Attack +2 Defense -1 Light Body Serious! Power Body
End Goku Broly AI Defense +2 Quick Fast Attack Serious! Dende's Healing Quick Charge
The opposition has three viable starters in Chiaotzu, Majuub, and Tambourine. On the other hand, they have just one viable closer in Majuub (Tambourine and Chiaotzu are untested, and Teen Gohan and Pilaf are savior reliant). As Tambourine is the better starter (on his defensive build), I expect him to be first. We have End Vegeta, who overpowered Tambourine in the main season, and this may deter them from this idea. But, End Vegeta is our best player, and the only place to definitely protect End from Teen's spike damage is last - hence, I think they would expect End to be a closer, not a starter. This is the build I expect on Tambourine. Tambourine - Defensive Build Majin Buu AI Defense +3 Attack -1 Eternal Life Serious! In addition to Majuub being the most suitable closer, their belief that End Vegeta will close would further fortify their decision of closing with Majuub (in my opinion). Teen Gohan's the biggest threat in terms of damage potential. The opposition knows we have Adult Gohan (who is also likely to be a mid-gamer), who is capable of large spike-damage through supers and ultimates. I expect Teen will come fourth, which will allow him to have a tag opportunity as well as protect him from Adult - by this, I mean, giving the greatest possibility of Teen coming after Adult. If Adult is fourth. Teen could still come before him if we have the man advantage (which is dangerous due to Adult's ultimate). This is another reason why I think Tambourine would go first - he has the greatest likelihood of giving the opposition a lead as their most capable starter. Pilaf and Chiaotzu would rotate in second and third respectively - I assume Pilaf will be second to hit with Savior's spike damage and maintain a lead for Teen. Chiaotzu is a good close-range melee fighter who capably adds damage with B2s. Pilaf requires time to passively charge as he is an android, I wish to use these to my advantage with my second and third players.
That is what I expect from the opponent and, this is how I shall attempt to counter it: I would start with End Vegeta with this build: End Vegeta Broly AI Defense +2 Attack -1 Eternal Life Rising Fighting Spirit Quick Fast Attack
This is what went up against Tambourine in the main season. I have kept the AI the same as his moveset is very similar to his SSJ 2 moveset (barring Saiyan Soul for Wild Sense) and I am assuming the AI will perform similarly in this form as well. If it doesn't, strong melee (without the consistent inclusion of the barrage move seen in SSJ 2) will still allow him to overpower Tambourine (as I believe End has superior melee). Rising Fighting Spirit is to allow Vegeta to gain momentum and the rest of his build is to allow him to outlast Tambourine. This main season match will be on the opposition's mind as well, and they may try one of two things to avoid a similar result in a Tambourine vs. End fight: 1. They will choose their alternative starter - Chiaotzu - with the hopes to throw us off guard. In this case, I believe End can outclass Chiaotzu - whose fighting style is fairly similar to Tambourine's (melee-heavy with the occasional inclusion of B2s) - with his own melee-volley(B2) combos. Furthermore, I doubt Chiaotzu will be on a defensive+healing build (as previous matches show that this is better suited to Tambourine) and End can gain the edge in survivability. 2. They will start with Tambourine, but have Teen Gohan come second (and hope Adult comes fourth or last in the lineup - as he did in the playoffs) to finish off (arguably) our best player in exchange for a weaker link of their team, and then start damaging our following one or two players to give the opposition a lead. For this scenario, I have...
Adult Gohan coming in second with the following build: Adult Gohan Vegeta AI Super +2 Ki -1 Light Body Savior Kibito's Secret Art Fighting Spirit! Indignation!
Adult Gohan's build is catered towards making his supers damaging while ensuring he uses them continuously. Kibito's Secret Art and Light Body are to allow Adult to use his Full Power Charge B1 while Fighting Spirit! is to alleviate the charge penalty that Ki -1 gives. If Teen is second, I am sure he will have to expend ki to take out End Vegeta, in which case, Adult can come in with an advantage due to Savior. I am hoping he will throw out an ultimate (as he has done fairly regularly - though not as often as one would like) or B2, and use the period of Teen being the ground for his Full Power Charge B1. I hope this initial burst will allow him to gain the upper hand to use his Madans to give us a significant lead in the battle. I do not expect him to come out unscathed due to Teen's spamming capabilities, but, I do expect him to win because of the initial burst. If Teen is not second, I believe Adult is fairly capable of dealing with Pilaf due to his moveset. Pilaf requires the opponent to be nearby for his B2s to hit, and Adult is better at this range due to his cheap and damaging Madans. Furthermore, his consistency in hitting with damaging B2s is more than Pilaf's. In addition, while Pilaf will have to wait for ki, Adult can charge or use his B1; thus, ensuring Adult throws out more B2s. Adult's B2s are also cheaper than Pilaf's and this would give us a significant upper hand. If Adult takes on Teen, I expect him to take the latter out (or atleast reduce him to a level where the next player can finish up) and take out the opposition's greatest threat. If he faces Pilaf, I expect him to open up a significant lead for us.
Third, I will have Mid Vegeta on the following build: Mid Vegeta Vegeta AI Ki +1 Rush Blast (3) Unleash Ki Savior Indignation!
Vegetas have some of the most effective rush blasts, and I hope to increase this effectiveness through Rush Blast (3). I have chosen 'Vegeta AI' as its description says it likes to keep its distance and throw energy blasts. I expect him to come up against Chiaotzu or Tambourine, who are most effective when close - due to their good melee and use of 2-bar moves. When it comes to range, Mid Vegeta's B2s are better and he has powerful rush blasts (amplified by the potara). AIs have shown a tendency to hit with rush blasts to stun before using a beam, and I hope the availability of ki (through Rush Blast (3) and Ki +1) will allow him to do just that. With Savior, I hope for him to hit with high damage (whether it's through rush blasts, B2s, or an ultimate), and gain the time to charge up and get the upper hand of the matchup. Unleash Ki's use is to give him an advantage in any clash he gets into because of his rush B2. I expect Teen Gohan and Majuub to be the Light Body users - and I don't think either of them will be third - hence, rush blast (3) can be used to its full potential (if Mid Vegeta does what the AI description says). If Teen is second, Pilaf has the potential to be third. In this case, the distance I hope to get through the AI will be beneficial as Pilaf's B2s are easy to dodge or hit Pilaf out of if the opponent is far enough.
Fourth, I'll have Trunks on: Trunks Trunks AI Attack +2 Defense -1 Light Body Serious! Power Body
I expect Trunks to fight Teen Gohan and, at this point, I expect us to have a considerable lead. Trunks has shown to be fairly aggressive and fairly decent with the use B2s into his melee. Teen Gohan generally gets the time to charge and spam because of his quick melee, that pushes aggressive opponents back. I hope to nullify this with Power Body. Serious! and Attack +2 are to ensure Trunkse gets as much damage in through melee before he gets hit by Teen's damaging B2s (which will be even worse due to his -2 in defence). Teen generally has Master Blast on him, which helps him get enough space (by pushing the opponent back) to; charge, use his 2 bar Kamehameha, or use Unforgivable. I hope to prevent Teen from getting this distance through Light Body. In a nutshell, this build is meant to stick close to Teen (and stop him from getting any space) while dealing as much melee damage as possible. By pitting the stronger part of our lineup against the weaker part of the oppositions, I expect us to have a considerable lead - particularly if Adult Gohan and End Vegeta tagged (as they have shown a tendency to do). I expect Trunks to get a significant amount of damage (bring Teen down to one bar) in before falling to B2s (hence, ridding Teen of his ki). In this scenario, I believe the next in the lineup (preferably End or Adult) can finish it with strong B2s. If there were no tags, the player before Trunks should have dwindled Teen enough to allow Trunks to finish up. If Teen was second, Trunks would probably face Chiaotzu or Pilaf. The former's forte is melee, where Trunks would get the upper hand due to Power Body. The latter requires time to gain ki, which Trunks can use to get damage in if he is aggressive as he has been in Season 4.
Finally, I will have Goku on: End Goku Broly AI Defense +2 Quick Fast Attack Serious! Dende's Healing Quick Charge
I wish for Goku to perform as aggressively as he did against Muscle in the main season and Gohans in the playoffs. He used Gohan AI, but it was largely untested and this is a different transformation. Hence, for what I want out of Broly AI, those matches and "doggedly pursuing and attacking opponent" are the best explanation. Similarly to Teen, I believe Majuub's greatest strength comes from the space he manages to create through melee that allows him to charge and spam. The defence is to reduce the damage of any B2s Goku receives (which will have already fallen due to Super -1). I believe Goku's melee game is as good as or better than Majuub's, hence, I think he can generate enough time to make Dende's Healing worthwhile. Goku has often tried to combat incoming B2s with his Kamehameha, and he has also held the move for too long on many occasions. As the move is relatively costly at 3-3.5 bars, it may lead to him getting damaged and losing the ki required to gain the upper hand in melee. This is especially dangerous against Majuub, who can use any and all distance and time to start charging and spamming. Hence, I have used Quick Charge to minimize this possibility as much as possible - even though B2s are not what I want Goku to do. If End or Adult do come before Goku to take out Teen; I expect them make otMajuub use his ki before they fall to spam. In both scenarios, Goku can immediately get into melee and, if he is aggressive enough, keep Majuub from spamming. As with Trunks, I expect Goku to have taken out a significant portion of Majuub before falling (if he does fall, as he is capable of taking Majuub out). At this point, our remaining player(s) - present due to the tag advantage I expect out of early matchups - should be able to take Majuub out (due to their ki advantage) and give us the win.
Everyone on the staff was impressed at the strong logic and creativity displayed by someone relatively new to the league. While it is unclear if how effect some of these builds will be, the logic behind them is undeniably solid. The level of work put into making these builds was evident.
CrimsonFlame is the new coach of the super saiyans.
Blades
Bluwolfie Tapion (Piccolo AI) Ki+1 1p Launch support 2p Eternal life 4p
With Tapion I used a build that is similar to what they already do with him, going for spamability. I threw eternal life on there as I'll be having him start, I imagine he'll need the survivability. Since I'm not entirely sure who is starting I figured with his high output he'd make a good starter. I went with Piccolo AI because it was difficult to nail down a commonly used AI for him by the Blades in the past and I find it to be quite solid in general.
SSJ Sword Trunks (Piccolo AI) Ki+2 1p Latent energy! 1p Serious! 1p Fighting spirit! 1p Indignation! 1p Savior 1p Quick fast attack 1p
With Trunks I decided to give him Savior to get some early damage hopefully with an ultimate, I opted to give him all of the heath-loss stat buffs to cover all my bases. Ki+2 so he can easily charge right back up and use B2s or whatever he feels like, quick fast attack to further boost his melee. Piccolo AI because the team seems to favor it and as I said, I find it to be quite useful in a general sense.
Cyborg Tao (Tien AI) Attack+1 1p Serious! 1p Fighting spirit! 1p Indignation! 1p Latent energy! 1p Dende's healing 2p
Tao I wasn't entirely sure where to go so I went a similar route as Trunks by boosting his all around stats as he loses health. I was originally going to go with Def+2 but I subbed Attack+1 because he does do a fair bit of melee regardless. Dende's to help keep him on the field, with the focus on his stats I think he'll be prove his usefulness before he's taken down.
Yajirobe (Cell AI) Def+1 1p Unleash Ki 1p Master strike 1p Power body 4p
I'm kind of going out on a limb here with this one. I gave him unleash KI due to the fact he has a rush B2 and a rush ultimate also since he is melee focused. I gave him Cell AI in the hopes that he preforms similarly to Nam, get in their face and beat them up and get out before he takes too much punishment. I gave him master strike and power body to further boost his usefulness in melee. Def+ to counteract the nerf from power body.. I know I'm taking a risk on this one but I'm hoping he uses a lot of melee to make it worth it.
Janemba (Tien AI) Def+2 2p Savior 1p Launch support 2p Dende's healing 2p
Pretty similar build to what has worked for him before, Savior in the hopes he uses an ultimate. Launch for Ki so he can keep up the punishment. Def+2 and Dende's to keep him in the game. Tien for it's hopeful reliance on ultimates.
While the builds are not particularly bad, they also do not play to many of the character's strengths. Several of these builds are all purpose builds that could do well, but not great on almost everyone. Another thing to note is the comment that Blu was not sure where to go with Tao. Tao is not a hard character to figure out with some research. "I don't know, so let's try this" logic is not a very strong argument.
NamekPikkon Hello, I would like to start by thanking you for both giving me this opportunity, and indulging my proposal. My name is Robert Sawyer A.K.A. NamekPikkon, and I would like to try out for the coaching position of “The Blades” I have already declared for “The Blades”. Before all else let me assure you despite the fact I suggested builds and cheered for “The Ginyu Force” I hold no longing allegiance to them, and now wish to become a coach, I've been a fan of “Dragon Ball Z League” since the first time “Muscle” won the Tencaichi Bowl. So before I get to the builds, let me state that I saw the thing saying before Season 6 begins you can draft players that fit under the guide-lines of your team. So with that in mind the first thing I would hope to do as Coach would be Draft “Demon King Dabura” and Release “Janemba”. If I was able to do so then this is the Builds, AIs, Costumes, and Order of characters I would create to fight the hand picked team of (Majuub, Chioutzu, Teen Gohan, Tambourine, and Emperor Pilaf’s Machine). To Fight the lead of Majuub- I would lead with- My lead - Cyborg Tao- Battle Control (1 pt. cost), Serious! (1 pt. cost), Combo Master (1 pt. cost), and Power Body (4 pt. cost) in Costume 1 with Broly’s AI My 2nd – Yajirobe- Dende’s Healing Ability (2 pt. cost), Latent Energy! (1 pt. cost), Warriors will (1 pt. cost), Mirage (1 pt. cost) and Defense+2 (2 pt. cost) in Costume 2 with Frieza AI My 3rd – Tapion- Ki+2 Super-1 (1 pt. cost), Aura Charge Green (1 pt. cost), Master Blast (1 pt. cost), Savior (1 pt. cost), Indignation! (1 pt. cost), Power of Rage (2 pt. cost) in Costume 1 with Cell AI My 4th – Trunks (Sword/Base Form) – Savior (1 pt. cost) Exquisite Skills (1 pt. cost) Fighting Spirit! (1 pt. cost) Light body (1 pt. cost) Quick Fast Attack (1 pt. cost) ki+1 (1 pt. cost) and Broly’s Ring (1 pt. cost) in Costume 2 with Tien AI My 5th – Demon King Dabura- Master Blast (1 pt. cost) Unleash Ki (1 pt. cost) Rising fighting spirit (1 pt. cost) and Eternal Life (4 pt. cost) in Costume 2 with Gohan AI (However if I was unable to acquire Dabura I would use Super Janemba with the following set) S/Janemba – Eternal life (4 pt. cost) Perfect Guard (2 pt. cost) and Defense+2 Attack-1 (1 pt. cost) in Costume 1 with Piccolo AI And this build and order follows the idea that the handpicked (Majuub, Chioutzu, Teen Gohan, Tambourine, and Emperor Pilaf’s Machine) team follows this order in other words they follow the way originally listed, if not I would switch the order to match. The Logic behind my build- (I’ll go based of match ups, in other words, I want Cyborg Tao to lead against Majuub, Yajirobe to fight Chioutzu, Tapion to fight Teen Gohan, Trunks to fight Tambourine, and Dabura/Janemba are last resorts for their own individual reasons) Logic for Cyborg Tao vs. Majuub- I see Majuub history to point to one thing and one thing alone…B2 Spam, which is a very powerful style to fight especially for someone like Majuub, But there only dangerous when they can Charge there Ki, because there Ki allows them to do B2s which is their highest asset so my theory is send cyborg Tao in because he has a very fast melee style and quick fire Dodan-pa’s (Combo master and Serious) will allow him to do more damage to Majuub in the melee style, (Power body) makes it less likely for Majuub to knock Tao down and start charging at the cost of Taos defense, but for that very reason I gave him (Battle Control), it allows Tao to refill his Switch gauge faster meaning if he starts taking massive damage its easier for him to leave the fight up to the next guy and come back out again later! (For the theory i propose, Broly AI fits best because it follows the build closer than any other AI, it encourages a strong melee front and occasional b2s, the whole concept i have is it promotes staying in there face, which is exactly what Broly AI does more than any other AI) Logic for Yajirobe vs. Chioutzu – I’ll be the first to say to many people sleep on Chioutzu, but Yajirobe will not, knowing just how much Chioutzu loves Spamming his Stun B1 and then throwing rocks in your face… that’s scary, so for that very reason we have Mr. Bulk himself Yajirobe, its true Yajirobe isn't the most damaging character but he doesn't need to be with (Warriors will, Defense+2 and Latent energy) cutting the damage his opponent does to him and (dende’s healing) restoring the health he losses he’s far from invincible but he’ll still outlast a lot of characters with his natural defense boost and (mirage) to get him up when he’s down Yajirobe should be able to take psychic rock throws and give some damage back with KA-BLAM Slicers, and if worst comes to worst there’s 2 options Tag or Senzu Bean. (The theory i have for Frieza AI, is i've watched the AI tests and i know just how brutal frieza AI is, i figure if Yajirobe's melee isn't up to par ka-blam slicer, and through my studies i've seen exactly what Frieza AI does, and i know im doing a bad job of explaining it but point is i've seen the tests i know it works!) Logic for Tapion vs. Teen Gohan- I’m assuming Teen Gohan is in his SSJ2 form where he has borderline Kid Buu power, and between his high combos in melee and 2 Ki bar Super Kamehameha wave he’s a huge threat, but throw in his max power charge B1 and Father-Son Kamehameha wave and he is a force beyond any other, some would argue he’s the most power player in the league, and that may very well be true, but even still I think Tapion will give him a run for his money with (Ki+2 Super-1 and Master blast), Tapions brave cannon will do maybe 5500 damage but it will only cost 1 Ki bar (halve of what teen gohans Super kamehameha wave cost) and Tapion has a higher charge rate, (Indignation) just makes the forever powerful spams even stronger, (aura charge green) just makes him look cool but (savior) allows spam-ion 5 free brave cannons upon stepping on the field (power of rage) will help him if he gets in a beam struggle between Brave cannon and super kamehameha wave, point is Teen Gohan may be more powerful, but no one out Spams Spam-ion. (The reason behind Tapions Cell AI, Cell AI is described to do a hit and run style, and to take advantages of enemies mistakes, (Im not as familiar with cell AI as i am frieza, or vegeta AI) which i see as what we want tapion to do, against teen gohan my whole strategy is brave cannon, fly away brave cannon, dodge Super kamehameha wave, don't let him come close enough to do melee and DON'T take a Father-Son kamehameha Wave to the face, which is what Cell AI is designed to do) Logic for Trunks (Base form) vs. Tambourine- Well once again another huge threat just like every other opponent so far, Tambourine, the guy who could easily outlast Yajirobe but I believe every set has its weakness even the Tankiest of all builds, one thing that is Very apparent to me is, that Even though Tambourine is a mega tank he can be stomped out somehow, I’m not exactly sure but for that very reason I chose a rather abstract set for a potential Super Saiyan, and that was simply if I do a little of everything something is bound to work!, and since Super Saiyans have a natural Defense Minus I chose to make it 100% sure he would NOT go Super Saiyan, to ensure this I gave him (broly’s ring) (I've also found that Trunks performs better in base form), He will hit the ground with (savior) allowing him an immediate advantage, he could get a no cap melee combo since he has (quick fast attack), and, or, use an ultimate then charge up fast with the help of (ki+1 and Fighting spirit!), and to ensure tambourine isn't that guy that throws rush blasts at a charging enemy from the other side of the map, he has immunity to them thanks to (light body), sure he’ll still take the damage but who cares when you have the ability to keep charging, and thanks to (Exquisite Skills) if he is stunned it wears of and he can take advantage of elongated periods of opponents being stunned. Its not guaranteed to kill Tambourine but if not there’s always Tao, he should still be alive. (Theory for Tien AI, Tien AI has a description of using Ultimates more often than not, and through studying the AI tests, I've uncovered it's a melee AI as well as an Ultimate, or at least it performs like a Melee AI, and that's what i want from Trunks, melee, stun, charge, ultimate, repeat) And finally my logic for Dabura/Janemba vs. Pilaf- Dabura is a powerful B2 set with Eternal life, or if I can’t use him, I can use Janemba to Tank EVERYTHING pilaf throws out with Eternal Life Perfect Guard and Defense+2 Attack-1 he can Take anything and heal damage almost as fast as he takes it, So depending on who my 5th man is depicts a whole different strategy, Dabura i hope to get some powerful B2s and some clean combo's in Max Power, However Janemba, I seek to go blow for blow with Pilaf and Heal off any damage he does. (Dabura holds gohan AI, because it likes it's B2s and Ultimates and the Aggressive streak that becomes apparent in Max power makes him even more of a threat!) (Janemba has Piccolo AI because id want Janemba to go Toe to Toe with pilaf, because i believe he can take any B2 or combo that Pilaf throws out, and deal out even damage (Keep in mind with eternal life even damage does not mean even levels of life), and piccolo AI has a higher tendency to dodge or block than most AI's) These are my reasons for each set, so dear decider Thank you for politely listening to my ideas of how to defeat your hand-picked team, I look forward to the announcement of who will Coach “The Blades” next season, and if it isn't me, then so be it that just means there’s someone who will be even better at the job than me, and I will support that Coach whole-heartedly so once more before I say Good-Day, Thank you so much for listening to my argument and ideas for the Coaching Try-outs, And sorry for the 1,926 word Resume, this just means a lot to me so a gave it everything I had! And that leaves me with no regrets! (Closing statements, I've been a fan for 5 seasons always wishing to be a coach and now that I have a chance, I’m so grateful so thank you Mr. Tryout’s runner) This concludes my Resume for the Try-outs for “The Blades”, and I just wish again to say Thank you so much for this chance, Good Day and God bless -NamekPikkon
NamekPikkon committed the same mistake Rapid did in adding player from another team, however, this is mitigated by the fact that he still made a build for Janemba and planned for the match with him just in case. There was an incredible amount of thought and work put into these builds that is evident to anyone who reads this application. Every build attempts to play to strengths of a character and it is clear that Pikkon did his research. That said, the builds were not perfect by any means. They had sound logic but could use refinement.
This was a close call as both of these builds had merit. In the end we chose NamekPikkon to be the coach of the blades. The effort and research he put into this application tells us that he is willing to pour the same amount of work into his team. We have confidence that more time and effort will further refine his already sound builds.

FCD So, here's my build to face that pretty dangerous team you put against us.
Dodoria (starter) Eternal Life (4) Light Body (1) Rising Fighting Spirit (1) Serious! (1)
Piccolo AI
I want someone who can do right in the face of the opponent, someone who gonan try to stop them from charging. Of course, there's Pilaf, that I know very well like the majority of the oppoenent team, that does not need to charge up. But I know even more Dodoria, I was the coach of that guy way back in the Frieza Henchmen in the begining of the minor league and went to the final with him, I know that with this build, he can put lot of pressure on anyone on the opponent team, something that Pilaf have lot of difficulties to deal with. I want him as a starter to try to get the upper hand right at the beggining. I put him on a tank build, with Eternal Life and light body so he can receive shot, but also put Rising fighting spirit so he can hopefully start the fight with a good shot ( the Ki could help him to do a b2 or a good melee combo ) and serious s there to make sure that if the opponent are able to make him lose life, they could regret it. So, I decided to start the match with lot of pressure on the opponent with someone who could last long by himself with that build, Dodoria.
Salza
High tension (3) Launch support (2) Savior (1) Super +2, ki power down 1 (1)
Krillin AI
If Dodoria gonna be up close, I want someone to dish out the pain with B2, someone who gonna make them pay with lot of energy. Salza is so weird, I saw him being so good in the minor with strike and B2, I know he can do it. So this time, I'll make hime into a b2/ultimate guy. I want him to use quick charging to always put pressure with it, a lil' like Dodoria but with another style of fighting. It could be very effective against guys like Pilaf, Tambourine and Chiaotzu. It's a dangerous choice , but I seriously believe in the fact that Salza could do the job with that against that team.
Android 19
Indomitable fighting spirit (2) Dende's healing(2) Exquisite skill (1) Defense +3, attack down 1 (2)
Piccolo AI
Android 19 is someone in with I put lot of confidence, he was probably the only character in witch Serrayak, marx and I agreed on the majority of the time when it was talk to talk about performence from the guys. With that build, I intend him to dominate the opponent by regenaration, with Indomitable fighting spirit and Dende's healing he gonna gain life and ki even if he does not succeed to grab the opponents. And if they gonna want to take a break, like if Chiaotzu and Majuub want toparalyze him, well, sadly for them, he will be back in fight sooner than later with exquisite skill. So he is one tought machine with hight defense and who can fight for a long time. He could do some serious dammage in the long term .
Hercule
Dragon power (3) Active heart (1) Combo master (1) Serious! (1)
Trunks AI
Ok, let's face it, Hercule is a pain, more for the coach of his own team that the opponent, sadly. But maybe that, with some work, he can do, at least decent performence, consistently. The majority of the damage that Herc have done over the years have been made by winning clashe, so I'ill put the Dragon power on him to make sure he have the best of chance to win those. With luck, the Active Heart/combo master/Serious! combination gonna make him able to defend himself in melee while regaining enought ki to try a b2. So I'm doing for the sentence that say that the best defence is offence, he could do a job against Pilaf, and maybe against Chiaotzu and Tambourine he coudl stand is own for a moment with that build.
S.Kai :
Savior (1) Indigniation(1) Dende's healing (2) Tension up(2) Fighting spirit (1)
Tien AI
So i pretty mutch put Supreme Kai on a way that he would use a lot of is ki to attack , instead of letting him try to win with is fist. So, having the chance to do an ultimate right when he arrive is a good thing, there's nothign wrong about gaining life to give more time to throw out beams, he will gain Ki faster with Tension Up and will do more damage with is ki with Fighting Spirit. So he will be kind of a glass canon , but with more life than usual. I could have risk Halo, but when facing guys like Majuub, Teen Gohan and Pikkon, you don't want to mess with that and I don't believe the risk would value it face sutch a good team.
So yeah, in the end I use a combination of big strong guy that can put offensive pressure, mixed with peoples attacking with B2, ki and, with luck, ultimate, while trying to make something out of Hercule. I think the combination could work very well, Dodoria and 19 already proved themselve in close combat, S.Kai and Salza had success over their career with B2 on time to time and Herc know how to win clashes. So that's my team to face the one you created.
The main problem with these builds is that they do not do much to evolve the team. With the exception of Herc and some AI changes, most of these characters are trying to fill the same roles they did during season 5 when the team had a very bad season. While it is clear that some steps were taken to effect change, and that is a good thing, it is not enough to drastically alter the teams performance, and lets face it, this team needs to step it up.
Derangel Dodoria Piccolo
Potaras Defense +3 Attack -1 Power Body Light Body
Supreme Kai Majin Buu AI
Potaras Ki +1 Serious Indignation Exquisite Skill Savior Dende's Healing
19 Ginyu AI
Potaras Defense +2 Dende's Dealing Unleash Ki Indignation Light Body
Salza Ginyu AI
Potaras Super +2 Ki -1 Launch's Support Dragon Spirit Savior Serious
Hercule Majin Buu
Potaras Draconic Aura Attack +2 Defense -1 Quick Fast Attack Dragon Power Launch's Support
I'll go character by character at first then at the end talk about the lineup as a whole and why I believe this works.
Dodoria: It was a tough choice deciding who to pit against Majuub. Majuub is generally thought of as a B2/Ult spam character but his melee is just as dangerous, his ki blasts can be quite damaging as well. Dodoria has decent B2s and slow but good damaging melee, I didn't think it would be worth the points to boost either of them, instead I felt he needed a build to simply withstand Majuub's assaults so he can take him down. With that in mind I created a defense build forgoing the usual Eternal Life and instead using Power Body to nullify the flinching effect of Majuub's melee. Light body effectively reduces Majuub's ki barrages to an annoyance instead of a potentially deadly way to stun then follow up with a B2. Defense +2 of course reduces the over-all damage output of all of Majuub's attacks. Most of the time Majuub is on a Ki Charge build which already reduces the strength of his B2s and ultimate, so with Defense +3 Attack -1 it further reduces the punch as well as offsetting the penalty from Power Body. The loss of attack power could hurt but the build should effectively neuter a ton of Majuub's damage output. The AI was a bit of a tough choice but I wanted to go for something a little defense but also with the potential to be aggressive at the right moments. Piccolo AI seemed to fit the bill pretty well.
Supreme Kai: In terms of pure damage output Supreme Kai is fairly average, especially in base form, but with a small ki boost and the right AI I think he could be a rather decent spammer. On top of that he has decent, quick, melee and a stun B1. All of that combined, with the right AI, could make him a very dangerous foe. With that in mind I put together this build. The choice of Majin Buu AI comes from my experience with the AI on characters like Cyborg Tao. Buu AI has shown a tendency for good melee mixed with a lot of B2 and even B1 usage. It's a very potentially interesting mixed AI. Chiaotzu is a rather versatile character, with incredibly fast melee and two B2s that I believe can not be clashed. When Chiaotzu gets on a roll he can dish out damage. I had other uses for defense characters so countering Chiaotzu with a character capable of aggressively throwing back damage combined with a healing transformation and some minor healing seemed like a sound plan. Chiaotzu and Supreme Kai both have a stun B1 so putting Exquisite Skill on Kai helps in both cases. Hitting Chiaotzu with Shockwave will give the AI a little longer to react while at the same time make him come out of stun sooner when hit with Chioatzu's ability. It isn't a huge change but even half a second either way is long enough to throw out a move and potentially decide the outcome of a match.
19: 19 was the first character I put in place and built. I knew he had to go against Teen Gohan. There are two very effective ways at taking out Teen Gohan. The first is simply to take him down so quickly that he has no chance to pull off any big moves. The second way is to nullify that ki in some way. There are four characters in the league ideally suited to the later, 19 is one of them. 19 isn't a terrible character in his own right, but his grab is the important part here. The idea for 19's build is simple: Grab and live long enough to keep doing it. Taking a look at 19's performance and at what the Androids have done with Gero I decided to go with Ginyu AI. AIs of course work different on different people, even taking into account the RNG but Ginyu seemed to be the best place to start. There is no allowed AI that is a sure-fire way to make 19 grab, but Gero's grab rate and his timing along with the follow-up fit perfectly. Indignation aside, the entire build is focused on keeping 19 going. I completely expect Gohan to get off moves, the Defense boost and minor healing should help keep him alive to grab. Like Majuub, Teen Gohan has his moments of tossing out barrages of ki blasts, light body is there to take away the stunning sting of those. Teen Gohan didn't clash often last season and he always lost. In the off chance that there is a clash Unleash Ki should give 19 a slight advantage. I considered Power of Rage but the chance of a clash was too low to use the extra point. Indignation's intention is simply to make 19's B2s stronger as Teen Gohan inevitably does damage. 19 has another potentially nice advantage that could help against Teen Gohan and that is False Courage. With Ginyu being a B1 AI the hope is to see good use of False Courage to aid in 19's attack and defense.
Salza: Salza is like Supreme Kai in some ways. His damage output is fairly average, though it seems like his melee might be a little slower. Salza also lacks Supreme Kai's healing transformation. One thing Salza does have over Supreme Kai though is the B1 Finish Sign. People don't take much notice of this little B1 but it increases melee and super move power. I don't know the exact increase Finish Sign gives, but I've found guides saying it starts at +25% additional B2/Ult damage and is stack-able all the way up to +50%. On top of that it has no negative effects once it goes away, which only happens once a B2 or Ultimate is thrown out. Naturally I got very intrigued and spent some time thinking about how to use that to my advantage. Then it dawned on me, Tambourine. You didn't specify if this was defense Tambourine or the more recent Ki Charge Tambourine so I put together a build to potentially deal with them both. Salza's B2s may have average damage but with the +2 super boost even against Defense +3 Attack -1 they're going to hurt not to mention when they're bolstered by an additional 25% of the base damage. For some fun math: A B2 that does 8000 base will do 10k with Super +2 and 12000 when combined with one use of Finish Sign. Even when taking Defense +3 into account we're talking about somewhere close to a full life bar. The big downside to this build is the negative to Salza's charge rate. Launch's Support will mostly take care of that but Salza can't survive on B2s alone, so that last point is used to give his melee some help. Going against a less potentially defensive character Super +1 could work but against Tambourine I wanted crazy high damage output per move.
Hercule: Hercule oh Hercule. Hercule was challenging. The free Draconic Aura gives him a lot of new options, but the one that stood out in my mind was turning him into a melee demon. His melee isn't strong, but it's fast and he loves to try it, all the time. Hercule's present bomb and his ultimate are also really good moves. This train of thought lead me to my old favorite, Majin Buu AI. As discussed before it is a potentially aggressive AI that likes to mix it up. The little ball of evil Pilaf has some damaging B2s. With his Android charge style Hercule can't stop Pilaf from gaining Ki but he can beat him down. Any clashes should go in Herc's favor and when he does want to charge Launch's Support will support that. The over-all goal of this build is just to beat up Pilaf quickly and effectively.
The enemy line-up played significantly into my builds and line-up as well. Chiaotzu at second can be dangerous but much less so than if Teen Gohan or Tambourine were there. Teen Gohan at 3rd allows a good split of my defensive builds and the over-all character choice creates the need for variety and strong versatile builds. Dodoria makes a great opener and his build also works for taking care of Chiaozu's melee and taking the bite out of his B2s. Making it up to Teen Gohan still gives Dodoria a chance and gives me a huge lead, on top of that Dodoria would still have the chance to inflict damage on Gohan before going down. Dodoria doesn't have an amazing tag rate, but it's not impossible to consider that he would tag at some point and let someone else help. Supreme Kai's tag rate is terrible but even surviving Chiaotzu will give him a shot at hurting Teen Gohan or maybe even hitting him quickly enough and often enough to take him down. Tambourine could be a challenge for him, but again at that point the lead is big enough that Supreme Kai going down isn't that big of a worry. 19 going against Tambourine isn't a bad thing as no matter what common build he is under Tambourine really likes his ki. 19's grabs take care of that problem and his defense helps keep him alive. A high defense + Eternal Life Tambourine could whittle 19 down, but not without taking some sever damage in the process. Getting through Tambourine presents 19 with a character that makes his grabs useless, that is bad. However grabbing Pilaf often does still stop whatever Pilaf is doing. On top of that 19 has a good tag rate so there is a decent chance he will bail prior to going down. This brings us to Salza and his pure damage build. Depending on how well he survives Tambourine, Pilaf could be a good challenge. I don't doubt Salza's ability to take down Pilaf though, combined with Salza being another character with a good tag rate. Putting 19 and Salza next to each other with their decent tag potential also helps them play off each other. Of course the other characters also have good tag rates (especially Tambourine) so my team being able to stand against a character further down the line helps that. Moving up the line has other problems but with these builds the hope is that the enemy will take heavy damage before taking out their opponent. Theoretically my set up should also help against random tag ins, but those are fairly hard to account for.
It is obvious an insane amount of work went into this application. The logic is solid and every well explained. More importantly, these builds have the potential to greatly improve the team. We are skeptical if the results will be enough to make a complete comeback, but it is a very solid start and the logic behind it is more important to the tryouts then the actual results.
TheNew-Mrs.Cold Android 19 vs. Majuub (Because if 19 can grab him it with drain his energy, and neutralize his spamming) (Melee/Grab) Recoome AI
Defense+1 Dendes Healing Power of Rage vanishing +1 Master throw
Hercule vs. Chioutzu (Because hercule needs to be in the match, but you dont want him to fight Tambourine or Teen Gohan, so it seems Chioutzu is his best Opponent) (any and everything to make herc not suck) Frieza AI
Mirage Ki+1 Power Body Master Blast
Supreme Kai vs. Teen Gohan (Because Teen Gohan is there strongest member, so it only makes sense to use Supreme Kai, you dont want to you a weak character against Teen Gohan, you need to fight fire with fire) (B2 Spam) Vegeta AI
Ki+2 super-1 Master Blast Power of Rage Indignition! Fighting Spirit! Savior
Dodoria vs. Tambourine (Tambourine is a tank, so is Dodoria soso just see who is able to survive, supreme kai needs to fight Gohan and 19 needs to fight Majuub so Dodoria is the next best option) (Tank) Piccolo AI
Kibito's secret arts Defense+3 attack-1 Dendes Healing Latent energy
Salza vs. Pilaf (With Supreme Kai, 19, and Dodoria already in tough fights i cant really hope for them to still be around with that in mind they dont need to be, Salza is just as Strong.....well he doesn't suck) (melee,no minus to super) Gohan AI
Quick fast Attack Unleash ki Attack+2 defense-1 Savior Perfect Guard Exquisite Skills
that's my idea on how to do the tryout battle!
Sadly, This is an illegal build Android 19 is not allowed to have Racoome AI or master grab due to his grab stealing life. A link to the rules for each character was put into the rules for this tryout so anyone doing their research would have known this.
In the end, we choose Deragnel for coach of team Derp. Whether or not his builds are perfect right now is not the issue. They are a solid start and if Derangel puts the same amount of work into the team as he did the application, this will only improve.
Rugrats
PvtCryan502 Transformation on: My build (btw: This is also the lineup in order): Cell Jr.: Broly Ai Defense +1(1) Power Body(4) Serious(1) Unleash Ki(1) Cell Jr:I made this build to focus on him being a melee tank. Defense +1 and power body will make sure that he can tank in melee which is what he was built to be in due to Broly ai. Serious was put in to make him more dangerous as the foes chipped away at him. Now he doesn't have a healing potara as he is made to be in melee which will sap and waste whatever health he had gotten back. Goten/Trunks Goten: Tien Ai Trunks: Trunks Ai Ki+1 (1,Goten) Attack +1 (1, Trunks) Power of Rage(2) Dende's Healing(2) Quick Fast Attack(1) Fighting Spirit(1) Goten/Trunks: Goten is made with charge so that he can benefit from it if fusion failed. Trunks has a bonus to attack since he could benefit if they don't fuse. If they did then Gotenks is based on what I saw in the Gauntlet. Power of Rage will win the clashes which can tip the balance of a match in anyone's failure. Dende's Healing is added to make sure Gotenks was on the field for longer to do more damage. Fighting spirit is added to make the character have the ablity to charge more then do supers for which Gotenks or any of them have strong b2s. Chi-Chi: Chaotzu ai Ki +2, Super -1(1) Dragon Spirit (2) Tension Up(2) Unleash Ki(1) Indignation(1) Chi-Chi: She has never been good at anything other than spamming so this build is to make her spam like mad. Ki +2, Super -1 and Tension Up are made to boost her charge rate, and I think you can think of the results. Unleash Ki is put in to make sure she can win clashes which the Rugrats have been known to win. Indignation was added to level her super's damage i the end so she can do some damage. Dragon spirit is interesting since Chi-Chi's supers are b1s and this is potara was added to help her get her b1 so she can use her supers. GT Goku (SSJ 1) : Tien ai Super +1(1) Launch's Support(2) Dragon Power(3) Savior(1) GT Goku: He has good melee but he was fantastic in season 4 since he did some great last stands and did a lot of damage. Super+1 is to make his supers better. Launch's Support is to help his ki charge which is okay. Savior is a tricky choice but since he's a closer I think it's a good choice for him to have that max-power. Dragon power is to make sure he has a great advatage in any clash and win them since they are great to have on your side in a fight.
There is absolutely no effort made to analyse and counter the opposing team in this application. Everything done is done to play to players strengths regardless of who they are fighting. As we have seen thought this season, this is not an effective strategy to make it to the Bowl, and it is certainly not what we want to see from a tryout application. To be an effective coach, you have to understand your team, your opponents, and tailor your builds with both things in mind. In addition there is almost no change or innovation from the builds they ended season 5 with. Looking at these builds, there is little reason to think the team would improve.
BlackPegasus So before i do anyhing else let me state that yes i am new to the forums, however i am far from new to DBZ league, infact i've been around since Season 3, and i know alot about builds AIs, because until recently i owned the game! I want to tryout for the Rugrats, because i fell in love with the Team, because im not exactly tall, and when i saw a team like rugrats it inspired me and i can't help but, try my best to make Rugrats stronger and maybe even win the Tenkaichi bowl, I wanna show everyone SIZE DOESNT MATTER, HEART DOES! now that im done ranting let me show you the Builds Gt goku (Hopes-Melee, don't let Majuub Charge) Gohan AI - Combo Master Quick fast Attack Master Strike Kibito's Secret Arts Dragon Heart Saibaman (Explode, Tag, Explode, (Battle control to tag and help of Goku's Kibito Secret Arts) Tien AI - Super+1 Master Blast Savior Battle Control Power of Rage Vanishing+1 Goten (Hopes- SPAM, SPAM, SPAM) Frieza AI - Ki+2 Super-1 Ultimate Aura Charge 3 Master Blast Savior Indignition! Power of Rage Cell Jr. (Hopes- Tank Hits, Guard B2's and Blast Ultimates) Cell AI - Eternal Life Perfect Guard Defense+2 Attack-1 Trunks (Hopes- to be a mixed fighter, a jack of all traits, as Squee said) Majin Buu AI - Unleash Ki Light Body Persistant Threat Fighting Spirit! Latent Energy! Serious! Indignition! Lineup- 1st. Gt. Goku vs. Majuub 2nd. Saibaman vs. Chioutzu 3rd. Trunks vs. Teen Gohan 4th. Cell Jr. vs. Tambourine 5th. Goten vs. Pilaf I know there's no guarantee my strategy would work, or that the lineups would even go the right way, but i know that the Rugrats are a strong team, and i hope to make them even stronger, even if someone else is the coach, i'll be working non-stop alongside him or her to make the little ones a force like none other, because....... SIZE DOESN'T MATTER, HEART DOES!!! -NegroPegasus
This is not a very acceptable application because it has no explanation behind any of the builds. We do not know the logic used to arrive here and thus, we cannot judge Back's ability to be a coach. We are not looking for a build that wins. We are looking for strong logic and effort that can develop a build that wins in time. This is impossible to determine with an application like this.
None of us knew what to do with this team. None of us were comfortable giving the coaching position to either applicant when they put so little effort into making or explaining their builds. In light of this, we have decided to hold another tryout for the Rugrats team. Both of these applicants are welcome to submit a new entry along with anyone else who wants to. That includes anyone who tried out for other teams but did not make it. You have one week to PM your builds and explanations to Rebel like last time and the staff will re-assess then.
