Hey guys, I'm here to announce something that the staff have created today. It's become painfully obvious that the draft so far hasn't gone as we had anticipated. And we foresee that everyone is going to just hold onto as much Zeni as possible and just bid everything on who they want. Which is very.... uninteresting. We have come to realize that we just haven't given enough interesting things to bid on. So without further ado, I'm ready to announce the Dragon Ball Z League Boost Store! What it basically is, is a store run by myself and the rest of the staff where you spend your unused Zeni that you are left with after the draft has completely finished. Right now, this is just a preliminary list of things you can purchase, and we may try to find other ways to get Zeni... but don't count on it! As a final note, these things will be available for purchase publicly, but you guys will USE these boosts when you put up your builds in your final customization threads. So that everything is a surprise!

Free Potaras

So, the first thing we have been playing around with are free potaras! These would be limited to one per player per match and wouldn't count towards your 7 points for that character. These are all one-time use, and the same one cannot be used on the same character two weeks in a row. For instance, if Jeice has Super +3 (Super +2 Ki-1, and Super +1) one week, he cannot have a free Super +1 the next. Please remember that this does take up one of your 7 customization slots. Potora rules for characters are still in effect. The store does not allow you to put potaras on characters that are not allowed to use them. However, these free potaras will bypass potara limits. For instance, if you have Dragon Power on Krillin and Yamcha, you may use the Dragon Power boost on Chiaotzu and Goku so that everyone has Dragon Power that week.
Potara NameCost
Broly's Ring1 Zeni
Rising Fighting Spirit1 Zeni
Aura Change (Any color or type)1 Zeni
Exquisite Skill2 Zeni
Kibito's Secret Art3 Zeni
Unleash Ki2 Zeni
Power of Rage3 Zeni
Dragon Power 5 Zeni
Serious!3 Zeni
Indignation!3 Zeni
Fighting Spirit!3 Zeni
Latent Energy!2 Zeni
Ki +14 Zeni
Defense +13 Zeni
Super +14 Zeni
Attack +14 Zeni
Draconic Aura4 Zeni
Style of the Strong10 Zeni

Other boosts

Immediately "rotate" your free agent regardless of what week it is - 2 Zeni
- This boost would also enable you to trade out someone who was already rotated out as if it was a week where you could do so normally. For example, if you are the Earth's Defenders, and you have Mid Vegeta (Your free agent), Goku, Tien, Krillin, and Yamcha in as fighters and Chiaotzu swapped out. You may choose to use this boost to swap Krillin out and Chiaotzu in as fighters.

Trade a player's bench with another player's - 5 Zeni
- This boost would enable you to essentially count one player's bench for another player's bench. Very similarly to how we are handling benching for Free Agents. If you were to have benched Krillin the previous week for his bench slot, and choose to use this boost, you may choose to bench Krillin again and count it towards Goku's bench slot. So in essence you would have to bench Krillin 4 times (3 for his normal benches, and 1 for Goku) and Goku only twice. Obviously, this thing is extremely powerful, so we have made it rather expensive and are restricting it to once per team. Meaning, you may only buy one, so use it wisely.

Trade out a map (only available if you are playing at home)- 2 Zeni
- This boost would allow you to pull the rug out from under your opponent and swap to a completely different map. If you choose to use this, you may ONLY choose maps from the map bidding pool. Meaning you cannot use this boost to change your map to mountain road or the tournament stage.

Now, please do not actually try to purchase things here. I will be making another thread where teams can purchase these boosts.

Please note, that these boosts are specifically designed to only be used during the season. You cannot use any of these boosts during the playoffs.

Whelp...lemme edit this post XD

I understand boosting the less fortunate teams from last season to make things more balanced and fair, but rewarding players for losing and doing poorly is just...well, like you said, "Weird". If you want to make this more like a sports league and teams with earnings, no one in real life gives teams more money because they lost five games in a row. If you want to give more base Zeni for losing, a sympathy donation so to speak, fine, but there should be awards for players and/or teams who stand out. Earning Zeni for an Elite player, or the most damaging team/player or highest B2 connection rate, etc etc. I mean, everyone wants to win, but if you know you're in the playoffs and are locked in a certain division (like, say someone literally can't get out of South Kai), what's to stop them from saying "Eff it, we're in/out of playoffs and have nothing else to fight for, let's try to get as much Zeni as possible for next season by experimenting bizarre builds that probably won't work- so we can still make it look like we're trying while grubbing all we can". I know that sounds...really pessimistic, but 'balancing the challenge' is not always fair. True, gifting money to the strong teams isn't fair either, which is why I suggest the above. Have FAIR goals to strive for that aren't tied to a win/loss for the weak.

Zeni will never carry over to the next season for just the reason you stated. I understand it feels good to be rewarded for doing well, and I'm not the kind of guy who thinks everyone needs to feel like a winner just for trying, but look at the likely outcome of what you are suggesting. Teams that do well, earn more Zeni to be more powerful. Follow that to it's logical conclusion. The team that is already winning, is going to win even more and make even harder for teams that are struggling. Late season comebacks will be almost impossibly hard because the team ahead of you is even stronger now. 4 or 5 teams will pull so far ahead of the pack that the close playoff races of the past few seasons will be a thing of the past. Now you will have strong teams getting even stronger with more zeni while weaker teams stop trying because they feel like they have no chance.

Not necessarily, depending on the awards. There were plenty of times a weaker team or team that lost out damaged the team they lost to. There were tines the biggest spammer was from a weaker team, etc etc. Especially teams who make use of their Zeni match after match could outperform a stronger team, shouldn't that be rewarded instead of pebalized? Are only losing teams going to get Zeni to "lessen the blow of the loss"?

I understand what you want to avoid but surely there's a way to make it a little more fair to everyone, not just the weaker teams

That seems fair in theory, but would it really be fun when you're staring down a team with inflated stats just because they lost before? What if everyone decides to burn all their Zeni on the Super Saiyans or something because of their previous season record?

I will say this, the staff has already decided that any additional ways to earn zeni will be up to public vote. After bidding is done, we will work heavily with you guys to come up with ideas. Once we are convinced that such ideas do not pose a serious risk to the balance of the league (For example, I am cautious about what Dimen suggests, but I am not convinced it would tear the league apart) It will be up to the public to vote on it.

Right, so we may have borked things a bit when it comes to KSA. The staff still feels the same about B1 potaras and Healing characters. So, in order to make sure things don't get too rediculous.... Specifically with Yajirobe and others like that... We are modifying the rule of

"All of these potaras in this circumstance bypass any customization limitations we have"

because well... we have to. Now it will read

On a side note, the scenario of Gotenks having boosts has come up. In this circumstance, the Staff has decided to not allow him to have any boosts because Gotenks is already pretty crazy, and the free potaras will allow potential abuse in the future. So, after conferring with the current coach of the Rugrats, we have decided that in any week that both Trunks and Goten is in, and either of them have boosts, then transformations will be turned off.

Boost store update: Trade a player's bench with another player's - 5 Zeni will now only be able to be used once per team.

Hm, I guess that is fair. Although with the stipulation of "once per player", I don't see how it would make that big of a difference.

The staff feels that being able to guarantee that your two best characters to be in 13 of the 15 weeks was a tad too powerful for the cost. Instead of increasing the cost to 10, we chose to only allow it to be used once per team instead. So, you can buy this boost and use it to not only to catch your opponent off guard by being able to bench the same character twice in a row, but make sure your best character only needs to be benched twice. At this point in time, the staff feels that is powerful enough for 5 Zeni.
