Hey everyone, it's finally time to reveal all of the info for Season 4! I know you all have been waiting a long time for me to spill the beans, so with no further delay, LET'S GET RIGHT INTO THIS. So the time is finally here... it's time to finally see the beginnings of Spoiler: click to toggle That's right! We are indeed making the move to the final game in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, Storm 4! I hope that this is pleasing news to all of you! With it will come new characters, stages, game mechanics, and a whole new Naruto League. So, getting into details of our other changes, like DBZ League, Naruto League is also going to be moving to a once a year model. Initially you may think that this is a strange move on our part considering the more simplistic nature of this League in comparison to DBZL. However, you will soon realize that this lack of depth is going to change! First off, I have figured out a way to make the AI smarter, so they will be performing more complex actions than previously seen. Due to this change in the AI however, the handicap system will have to be changed. Caps are still earned in the same way as before, but now the max is two handicap. The reason the handicap system needs to have this change is because now that the AI is smarter, when you give it a large enough handicap that affects it negatively, it will actually overcompensate for that deficit and perform far better than the opponent. With this in mind, it's understandable why we would scrap the old system, as it never seems to make a difference for the team whom is on the losing end of the match. I wanted to avoid setting the AI's competence too high because it caused too much melee aggression in it, and not enough variety of play was seen. The new difficulty and change to the handicap system aren’t the only changes however; the lineup structure will also be improved. Due to the introduction of a new mechanic called Leader Change, the lineups will have to be structured a bit differently. You see, now we will be using a six-man roster! Five being themed characters, and one being a Free Agent. Similar to DBZL, your sixth member will be sat on the inactive roster until you have the choice to swap them back in the break between trimesters, and remember that your inactive player can be either a themed character or your Free Agent. So with this in mind, now every week you must use four members of your roster, and bench the fifth. Here is an example of the new lineup format: Let's say you're Hidden Sand. Your themed roster is comprised of Gaara, Temari, Sasori, PTS Temari, and Kankuro, with the Free Agent and inactive member being Hanzo. The way that lineups work now is that you must choose one character to lead with, and one to two characters to accompany them. There are benefits to choosing specific lead characters, like being able to choose alternate jutsus or ultimate jutsus for them if they have them, and their item palette being shared between the entire team. However, when you choose a lead character, you are unable to use that character again in the lineup for the rest of the match. In this way it is similar to how lineups were constructed in past seasons, only now what used to be that lead character's supports can also participate in the fight as well. If you would like to have your lead character in another costume, include that in parentheses next to the character name. If you want to go default, leave it be. If your lead character happens to have an alternate jutsu or ultimate jutsu that you would like to use, please list them in brackets next to the character. If you'd like to stick with the default ones, just leave that blank. Similarly to the lead character, place their teammates below them with your choice of costume in parentheses. Spoiler: click to toggle The rules for lineups are as follows:
The rules for benching are as follows:
But that's far from being it for all of the changes! We decided to change up the themes of two different teams as well! Hidden Leaf will become Team Kakashi, and Kenjutsu Clan will become Team Minato. I hope you all find these two teams to be welcome additions to the League! Speaking of teams, we will be having a roster reset for the new game. Every team will have to choose their rosters again from the theme priority list below: Spoiler: click to toggle And fear not! With the magic of preset modding, I am able to allow teams to pair characters that could not previously be paired, (Kabuto with Snake Cape Kabuto, Taka Sasuke with Hebi Sasuke, etc.) so your options are less restricted. Rosters will start to be sorted out after captain tryouts have concluded on the 2nd. If you're not a captain and are interested in being one, I would recommend you check out our captain tryouts for Hidden Sand, Hidden Stone, and Team Minato! As for divisions, we're also going to be resetting those as we can't quite rely on past seasons to help us set them. We're still in the process of deciding them, but it won't be long until I'm able to get that info to you all. Another new addition to the League is the ability to customize your item palette in between every trimester! Each character has their own item palette specific to them, and the lead character determines the items that the other characters in the lineup will use when leader changing to them. All four slots in the palette are being used, so the maximum amount of items allowed on the palette is eight! You can set the palette up any way you wish. You're even able to spread the same item across multiple slots to increase the chances of a character using it! However, along with this comes certain restrictions. Some items are stronger than others, so they are limited in quantity across a palette. Additionally, the maximum amount of one item you can use is three, although for some items the limit is lower. The only other rule when it comes to the customization is that every slot must be filled. Now, below there will be a list of all of the available items for use, along with descriptions and quantity restrictions. Item List I hope these items add a whole new layer of customization for you all, and remember that item palette customization is only done every trimester, so it is not a weekly thing you have to deal with setting for your team. Yet another addition that I know people wanted to see was the ability to change your character's support type! Well, this is indeed going to be possible now as well! Every trimester, you have the choice of switching characters between these seven support types: Support Types So one of the other really important additions to the League for this season is something I think you'll all be looking forward to! After thinking on it for a while and wondering how I would go about adding depth to the League, I came up with a bit of a crazy idea: what if I replicated DBZL's potara system within Storm 4 and tried to see how well it would work for Naruto League? Now of course at the time this idea was very simple and barebones, with just stat based options to go off of, and the rest of the staff and I didn't view it as anything more than just a far out idea for a while. After all, the only way to do it would be through modding everything meticulously by hand myself and devoting a lot of time to it. So once the other appropriate tests were done, that's exactly what I did. I spent months on this project, trying to find out how to change certain stats, balancing them, testing them fervently to make sure they worked well in the Naruto League environment, modding the actual stat changes in for every single character multiple times, and before I was even done with the project, here I was wanting to expand on the idea even more! I wanted to create other miscellaneous options that people could use as well! So as crazy as I was about this idea, I knew that it would take a lot of my time and effort for something that might not even work. However, despite knowing that, I continued to do it anyway. And now I'm happy to present an entirely new system to Naruto League: the Scroll system! These scrolls can be used to boost your characters' stats in many different ways, and if I was to list them all here then that would make this thread pretty long, so if you want to learn about them all individually, check out THIS thread! Even if I don't go over what they all do individually here, I would still like to talk about the build structure for them. So, we are also going to be operating off of a point based system, but unlike DBZ League's seven point limit, we will be using a five point limit! This is because we have less scrolls in general, and even though I was limited in what I could do, I still managed to crank out 25 different scrolls! It is also worth mentioning that each scroll has its own limit on how many characters it can be shared between in a week's lineup. Some are more restricted in usage than others. So, to give you an example of what a build looks like in Naruto League, here you go: Spoiler: click to toggle And together your lineup would look like this: Spoiler: click to toggle Make sure to place lineup order first, and builds second. This is of course just an example, but it is something that you can do as long as you're under five points. I really hope that you're excited for this new system, and since we're introducing it, we figured it would also be a nice idea to incorporate a Boost Store! The Boost Store works pretty much just like how the one in Dragon Ball Z League, but instead of using Zenni, we are using Ryo! It's really no different, just a cosmetic change. If you'd like to check out what the Boost Store has to offer, head on over to THIS thread. And speaking of Ryo, we are also going to be adopting the Free Agent bidding system. This means that we will no longer be using theme as priority for Free Agents! I will keep you all updated on the bidding and let you know when the first week of bidding for stages and songs will begin! After that of course we'll get to the FA bidding, and once that's over, we will be moving into preseason! But of course, in the meantime we will have our captaincy tryouts starting up today and will last for a week, then followed by roster drafting, then followed by the three bidding weeks, and then finally preseason and regular season! Thank you all so much for your patience, and I hope you all enjoyed the information given in this update! : ) |

I just had a thought. How would a character reach elite status in this new system? Also shouldn't the Shinobi Acadmey post be edited? Edited by ShadowSoldier, Apr 27 2016, 12:34 PM.

Unfortunately we're not sure. The entire stats system is going to have to be reworked. Also, yes it should, but I'm holding off on that for that moment because I've exhausted myself so far. I'll get around to it by the time the preseason starts at the latest. For now, you can find all of the info you need here.

You know what I love about the new additions to the league(scrolls,ai changes) is that so far it makes the fights more intense. It feels like I'm watching op characters fighting op characters |
