Okay everyone, here we are, with the results of our most recent captain tryouts! Thank you for all of your applications, and I hope that no matter the result that you continue to support the team you tried out for. Hidden Stone and Hidden Sand are both great teams with a lot of potential, so I wanted to make sure that I chose the candidate that was the most suited for each position. Alright, so here we go...
Hidden Sand's new captain is...
Spoiler: click to toggle Ravemass!
And Hidden Stone's new captain is...
Spoiler: click to toggle Kaio!
Congratulations to both new captains! I hope you do well by your teams in the coming seasons! This is a well thought out application that lives up to the standards that we have set. Please use this as a reference for any tryouts that may come up in the future:
Spoiler: click to toggle Hi there, this is Kaio, current coach of the Majins, and I would like to make my way into Naruto League finally by applying for the coaching position of the Hidden Stone team. To start, I'll take a look at my opposing team and what I think their lineup would look like.
Opposing Team:
Itachi [Ay] [Temari]
Ay [Tsunade] [Temari]
Temari [Tsunade]
Bench: Han
My reason for believing that this would be my opponent’s line up is that Itachi has also been a great character and one of the deadliest due to his ability to move in quickly with his transforming into crows dash move, allowing him to really control the battlefield. With how impressive Itachi is, I would assume he’d open to try and give his team an advantage by taking out a player or two by himself. Next is Ay, a powerful close combat character that would be dangerous for characters that rely on long distance for their strategy. Temari would be 3rd because her long range tactics are devastating to a lot of characters, giving them little to no chance to recover from her windy onslaught and giving them an incredibly hard time to get in close. Finally, Tsunade would bring up the rear because of her insane close combat power which makes her a dangerous and ideal closer. The reason I chose Ay and Temari as the first support characters and then Tsunade and Temari as the 2nd ones is because I wanted the main fighter to always have a close combat type support and a long range support so that they had the option of using whichever style was best for the situation. I figure Han would be benched because Stone seems to be a team more based around close combat fighters from what I’ve seen and they would want to capitalize on that with characters that don’t need to be close like Itachi and Temari, while Ay and Tsunade are probably more capable of fighting off the other characters up close than Han is.
2nd Tsuchikage / Mu [Roshi] [Deidara]
Roshi [Han] [Deidara]
Deidara [Han]
Bench: Ohnoki
Looking at the opposing team, I thought the best person to go up against Itachi would be the 2nd Tsuchikage, Mu. My reasoning for this is that after doing some research, Mu seems to be a mid-range type of character, with jutsus that work up close and from mid-range, while also being good at melee. Because of Itachi’s ability to move along the field quickly, I thought Mu would be the best to try and deal with Itachi no matter what distance he was at. I also gave him Roshi and Deidara as his supports so that he could try and capitalize on Itachi being close with Roshi’s support or punish Itachi for being far with Deidara’s. I chose Roshi to come in next against Ay because they’re both close combat fighters but I’ve noticed that Roshi really likes to dodge and be maneuverable. Against a powerful character like Ay, I think this ability to dodge is HUGE and can really give him the advantage and capitalizing on Ay’s fighting style. I chose Deidara to go up against Temari because in all honestly, it seems like a lot of my close combat fighters would have trouble trying to rush Temari and fight her up close so I’d rather try and beat her at her own game with my own ranged fighter Deidara. My ultimate hope is for Deidara to throw Temari off with his ranged attacks and while she’s dealing with that, use the ranged attacks as distractions to move in close and take her out with his melee which also seems to be fairly good. Finally I have Han, a solid close combat fighter who I think can go at least toe-to-toe with another close combat fighter in Tsunade. I also chose to bench Ohnoki because I don’t think he’d be able to handle the speed or raw power of the opposing team and would do better sitting this one out. Builds:
Second Tsuchikage (Muu) Chakra +2 Ultimate -1 (1) Chakra Saver (2) Ultimate Dash (2) My reasoning for Mu’s build is that I want him to be a friggin’ spam master with his chakra. I want him to just give Itachi 0 chances to do anything and constantly spam his jutsus out, while also making sure he can get rid of any distance between the 2 fighters with the ultimate dash.
Roshi Chakra +1 (1) Body Flicker (1) Awakened Fury (3)
While Roshi seems to be mostly close combat, I think he likes to charge up a lot and use his jutsu to move around quickly, so chakra +1 on him and body flicker will both help with that. With Awakened Fury, Roshi is already a heavy hitter and with the ability to charge faster thanks to Charka +1, I think he’ll be a monster in awakening which he’ll be able to get to easier with Charka +1.
Deidara Defense +2 Attack -1(1) Chakra Saver (2) Shuriken Master (2)
Deidara is going to be fighting from range a lot, so I want to make sure when he uses his ranged weapons that he’ll be dealing more damage, especially with the Defense +2 Attack -1 hurting his melee combos, this should help even things out. Chakra Saver will also help him be able to throw out more of his long range jutsus to try and hold off the opponent.
Han Attack +2 Defense -1 (1) Ultimate Chakra Saver (2) Berserker (2)
From what I’ve seen and remember, Han is a friggin close combat monster and likes to use his ultimate jutsu. Because of this, it only makes sense to throw Attack +2 Def -1 and Ultimate Chakra Saver on him to make sure that he keeps up the offensive while in battle and hopefully throw out multiple ultimates. Berserker on him will make sure that while he’s applying the pressure it’ll be dangerous for the opponent to guard and force them to use their substitutions up quickly in fear of being guard crushed.
Well…that I think is everything pretty much covered, I thank you for your time and look forward to another great season of Naruto League!
Have a nice day everyone, and once again, congratulations to our new captains!
