There is also proof that we have beaten the speed of light and our theoretical understanding of the universe is wrong. God dammit Einstein-appa! We DO have evidence that somebody existed 2000 years ago, not that his name was Jesus. The nametag on his uniform said Steve okay? So I'm going to assume he was called Steve. Regardless of any of this... we're all going to hell in one person's opinion or another

The universe seems neither benign nor hostile, merely indifferent. -Carl Sagan

Firstly I'd like to point out that the Jewish bible is called the Torah and only consists of the first 5 book, not the entire Old Testament. And the "Do unto others as you would have done upon yourself" came into existence long before the Jewish religion and Jesus. Whether or not people truly lived by this and whether or not Jesus changed this is unclear or subjective. The most intelligent person ever is way too broad of a title because, as people have previously stated, people are "intelligent" in their own ways. For me, however, I chose other, that person being Tȟatȟáŋka Íyotake (Sitting Bull) or Tecumseh. |

um, sorta. while events of supernatural status are as of now unknown, the bible does have quite a bit of truth in it, geographical landmarks, cities, culture, it's all in there if you look for it. |

Several events in it are proven to have happened. No where near all,and rarely in the manor it says. But several of them did in fact happen. This is Fact. How much of it is mythological BS like every other religion at the time and how much of it is real isn't quite known yet though. |

I'm sure it has some things right, but it also says the world was made in 6 days... |

Actually most Christians believe that many things in the old testament are just symbolism or something like that. Very few actaully believe that the world was created in 6 days and those who do aren't exactly thought of as smart by the rest of them. Edited by ClassicGamer102, May 7 2012, 09:37 PM.

I know not all Christians believe all of it. I was just saying I wouldn't call the bible "historically accurate". |

Up until about the 17th / 18th Century, Christianity was considered mostly symbolic. In fact, we were all very big on symbolism in general (See: Brother's Grimm's stories and the morals/symbolism in them). I'm not sure when it changed (I blame the McMericans), but we started to take the bible VERY literally for some reason, when we never had before. |
