Question:

In the first Superman movie, Superman flies around Earth so fast that it begins turning in the opposite direction. This somehow turns back time [... ] How much energy would someone flying around the Earth have to exert in order to reverse the Earth's rotation?

Someone recently blew my mind by telling me I’d been misinterpreting that scene all my life. I like their take on it way better:
Superman wasn't exerting a force on the Earth. He was just flying fast enough to go back in time. (Faster than light, I guess? Comic book physics.) The Earth changed direction because we were watching time run backward as he traveled. It didn't actually have anything to do with the direction he was flying.
Now that I see it, it makes a lot more sense. I mean, as much sense as a red-cape-and-outside-underwear time traveler can make.
A discussion of the reversal of the Earth’s spin—and what that even means—will have to wait for another article.

Goku, on the other hand, has never shown the capacity to do this, and that is why Goku is naturally slower.
Actually, based on what Gamer brought up, Goku and Superman move at the same speed. How do I know this? In the show, Krillian states that in order for Gohan to see the fight between Yamcha and a Saibaman, he'd have to try and detect their energy, because they move too fast to see. This means that the fight between those two was faster than the speed of light, as light determines images. Now, considering that-in the show-speed is relative to one's power level, and Goku's power by the end of Z was much greater than those power levels, he should be able to move just as fast as Superman.

Not to mention that Superman reaches top-speed while flying, while Goku can go from 0 to Light-Speed with a single punch.

Yet goku never goes back in time... well, kinda-sorta at the end of GT but no one understood what that scene was about anyway.

That has to do with the logic of each groups respective creator. Superman was meant to go back in time, and he did. However, if the speed of light worked like it does in reality in DBZ, than the Z-fighters would just keep going back in time, and that would be kind of odd.

However, IF Superman could go back in time... Goku has a problem...

If we are looking at speed we have to remember that superman can move SO FAST that he can dodge automatic fire while standing still, simply by moving his FREAKING ATOMS.... anyway this leads me to my main point.

I think, and follow me on this one, that Goku doesn't stand a chance. I wish it weren't so, and I hope I am wrong, but thats the way I see it. I get this opinion from looking at their characters, Goku was designed to fight, Superman to be a hero.

If a character is designed to fight, there has to be a kind of even playing field between good and evil, if not slightly tipped in evil's favor. Yes there were things like the Vegeta v 19 fight where hero dominated villains, but that was a bring-up from Goku getting sick and would lead to a "WTF" Moment when 18 and 17 come out to play.

Superman, on the other hand, is godlike. I am not saying Superman has never lost, that he has no weakness, or anything like that, I will admit he is far from it in fact, but aside from fatal, yes fatal, flaws, he has next to none. I might not be 100% on my DBZ lore, but as far as I know saiyans don't have a kryptonite like the kryptonians do. When Goku loses to anyone it is because they are stronger than him, or because his morality gets in the way.

An example

That is kind of like chaos control for shadow, in that it isn't the best thing to do in the middle of a fight.

This will be the end of the world. It's even on December 21st. Check the site for some stuff they put up about it.

As far as I can tell this we'll be a pretty even fight, I was worried about the whole kryptonite thing but then I remembered that DoomsDay killed Superman with just brute strength. And Darkside was also able to nearly kill Supes the same way. So If Goku can get to SS3 or 4 then I think he could win.

Being a big comic book / anime fan I think it's time I put my opinion in for the Goku vs. Superman fight. Both men are super powered aliens with...surprisingly similar origins. (What with being the last of their race, barely escaping extinction by being sent to the far away planet of Earth and raised by good people.) Superman has so many abilities, the most popular and common (I'm not including his 1930s 1 issue, oh we need to come up with something, powers) being super strength, flight, super speed, invulnerability, heat vision, ice breath, super breath, and X-ray vision. Goku also has flight, super strength a high durability, and all his ki based attacks. Now I think it'll be a close fight, and both fighters have their strengths and weaknesses but I have to say my winner is.....Superman.

I will put my work here: I believe that while Goku is the much more experienced fighter and has actually trained in formal martial arts, Superman should be able to shrug off a good amount of the hits and Superman has faced off against experienced fighter in his time and has held his own. I think Superman is faster than Goku, but Goku does have the instantaneous transmission (Teleportation) ability to give him a bit of an edge. With all of this though I think Superman is a better strategist when in the middle of the fight.

In the comics or the shows, Superman is able to figure out the weaknesses and faults in his enemies, helping him gain the upper hand in a fight. Goku usually just transforms to another level of SS and hopes that's strong enough. Even looking back at the series, 90% of the time, Goku is only able to kick the crap out of the bad guy is cause of training super hardcore beforehand. Saiyan Saga, months training with King Kai before Nappa and Vegeta appear. Frieza Saga, 100x gravity training during the whole space trip to Namek to beat up Frieza. Android Saga, is warned by Trunks and given heart medicine to beat the androids. Cell Saga, year in the hyperbolic time chamber. So Goku is great for a fight...when he has time to figure out what to train for and has time to do it. I just don't think if Goku and Superman suddenly met, that Goku would be able to hold his own against Superman.

Another thing is that a good chunk of Goku's attacks take time to power up. The Kamehameha can be quick fired, but when it isn't that's enough time for Superman to super speed out of the way. Spirit Bomb? Anything strong enough to take down Superman would take waaaaaaaaay too long to power up and since it's just Goku vs. Superman, Goku wouldn't have anyone to distract Superman long enough to power up the Spirit Bomb.

Last little thing: Superman can hold his breath super long in space and survive in outer space. As seen in the comics, he can fly from Mars to Earth easily just while holding his breath. Superman could throw Goku into space and just pummel him there till he died.

So in conclusion: The Kryptonian wins.
