So, good news. Michael Arndt, the writer of Toy Story 3, is getting in on this. I mean, Toy Story 3 was a pretty great movie, and it was written with the people who grew up with the first two movies in mind. Because if you watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2 when you were a kid, you watched Toy Story 3. Don't lie. (I personally saw it with my nieces and my brother). I think he's an excellent choice to write this.

Expectations are rising, even if only a little bit.

I've got to agree, I'm rather excited about Michael Arndt writing the story. I mean, I lvoed Toy Story 3 and I'll admit it, I teared up twice during that damn movie...I also enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine and he's going to be working on the 2nd Hunger Games movie. So I trust the writer....the big thing next is who's directing the movie.

If only they would do a HBO type series instead of a movie, you could do so much with the Star Wars Universe and not have to fit it into 3-6 hours. I mean i would love to see a Dexteresk' series involving a Bounty Hunter.

They've been talking about doing a Star Wars TV series for a few years now. And now that Disney owns them, there's a good chance that it might find it's home on ABC. I believe it was supposed to be about the events between Episodes III and IV and a good amount of Boba Fett stuff, so there's that.

I don't mind the fact that disney bought the rights to Star Wars, it can't possibly do more harm to the franchise than Lucas himself has managed to do. What I do have a slight problem however is the releasedate. The only way 2015 release is possible if a) they cut corners and rush it, making it a worse movie or b) if they already had a finished script, which they just need to touch up. Making movies is hard work, and surprisingly large amount of time making it is spent in pre- and post-production. So I'm really hoping for option b), or maybe for the postponement of the release date to maybe summer or winter of 2016.

What I am really happy about is that the movie is supposed to be Episode VII, which means they'll leave whatever has happened alone, but also have to take it into account, or place the movie so far into the future that nothing that's happened in Episodes I-IV really even matters. I'd love to see none of the characters, or even their offspring in the new movie. Keep the overall setting, but give us a new story.

Yeah, I'm really damn glad that Abrams is in charge of Episode VII, he now controls the Alpha (Star Trek) and Omega (Star Wars) of Sci-Fi stuff.

since it's going to be episode VII I think it's going to be a plot after the defeat of the empire...
What are your ideas?
